Has this ISO ever worked for you and has now stopped working or has

it never worked to begin with?

Because according to my Google-Fu VBOX_E_IPRT_ERROR is an import

error and is often caused by corrupt ISO images or settings which

do not match with the ISO. If this ISO is new it might be corrupted.

Have you tried out other ISOs? If so, did they work, and if they

did are they still?

NOTE: I have never tried Virtualbox, the above is just Googling,

so I'm not sure how much help I can be, but I thought I'd give it

a shot. ;)

Its a new ISO that I downloaded straight from the debian site. I will try re-downloading it, hopefully it wont take too long.

Make sure in your settings for the VM that the OS is set for am64 debian.... Otherwise it kinda won't work so well, but yeah, download the image again just to be sure

Haha, no problem, though as said I'm definitely not very well versed

in VirtualBox. There's usually a checksum listed somewhere next to the

download which should allow you to verify that the file has arrived

intact on your machine when the download has finished.

(i.e. download the file, checksum it, then compare against the checksum

listed on the website)

It booted into the ISO and it is stuck here after hitting "Graphical Install":

Try enabling EFI under the system tab or PAE under the processor tab, PAE will probably not do anything, but it might depending on 32/64 bit on both machines. Also, try the normal installer, it's just as simple. Just not so pretty

You mean it just freezes? Have you tried the other options? Is VT-x

working properly (if it's not, you might actually just be experiencing

very slow progress instead of an actual hang-up, I have had that when

disabling VT-x in QEMU, the VM becomes ridiculously slow).

Also, you could try out another distro to see if the problem is Debian-

specific (maybe also different architectures than 64bit). You could

start with Ubuntu or Mint or something like that, or even better, a

distro that's not based on Debian (try distrowatch.org for finding

something like that, I don't have anything in my head at the moment

besides Arch and Gentoo, which might be a bit hardcore).

Sorry, bit busy today. That problem is actually caused by booting in EFI.... So yeah, my bad. I didn't expect it to throw that up though... You can sort of manually jig the installation from here.... Although... Linux stuff.... It's easier to change VB settings by a long way

Hm, that's a list of the storage devices the UEFI shell has found. I have

never done this, but according to what I've read you should be able to

mount the device which is your ISO and then load its bootloader (not sure

if it will work with an install medium, but you never know, but the UEFI

shell is capable of loading bootloaders in theory AFAIK).

The Arch Wiki has a few words about the UEFI shell, though I'm not sure of

how much help they will be.

I talked to my dad (Who is the one that uses the VM workstation I have for his work) and he said it might be a problem with windows 8 and its permissions. He said he will set up the VM on his system and transfer it to my PC.

Thanks for your help, I will read that wiki page :)
