OK, so a notebook (connected to a domain, registry keys for remote desktop set, windows 10 Pro updated with "no other updates available", used to be able to remote desktop into it.  It's setup for it, it used to work, I even granted permissions for myself (despite already having access to it), disabled access, and re-enabled access, attempted to connect from a win 10 machine, win 7 machine, windows server 2012 r2, windows server... can't remember version offhand--but all get the standard "pc not online, pc not found, pc not setup for remote desktop"--but the pc is pingable with it's network name, even remote desktop to it's ip address gets the same error.  Restarted PC 5 times.  Still nothing.

Any ideas?  I'm almost thinking Microsoft broke something with remote desktop with some update. Or dell managed to break something with an update of theirs when combined with some microsoft one.  They broke remote desktop features in one update making menus of rdweb programs take up to a minute to open (later fixed) so it wouldn't surprise me.

OK... found the fix... maybe... just left in case someone was curious.

Rechecked for updates, (found some new one apparently--maybe that did it?)

Restarted

Disabled remote access

Reenabled remote access

Worked

Which is odd... I'm almost wondering if the disabling/re-enabling again might have reset the information (maybe in conjunction with the restart/update) as it was done before and did nothing.
