I bought the MSI B450-A pro and it supports up to 3466 DDR4 memory. I was looking to buy some G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB 3600DDR4 and wanted to know if it would boot to the bios for me to under clock it. I also want to know how to under clock it for max performance while still being compatible. This is my first build so over/under clocking is still very foreign to me. for reference i bought the ryzen 7 2700x

You would want to set your memory to 3466 and not any higher.

but is it possible for me to do that? it comes out of the box at 3600 so can i down clock it

Iirc all ddr4 memory starts at 2133 MHz, and it can go up to the listed MHz shown, in your case, 3600

I lurk

so what your saying is if i stick it in the build i can go into the bios and change the clock speed without an issue?

There a several ways you can do it.  One way: set XMP/DOCP and then select a slower speed in BIOS.  Another way: set everything manually.  Look up on YouTube how to overclock RAM and the steps are the same you'll just be going the other way.

AMD Ryzen 5800XFractal Design S36 360 AIO w/6 Corsair SP120L fans  |  Asus Crosshair VII WiFi X470  |  G.SKILL TridentZ 4400CL19 2x8GB @ 3800MHz 14-14-14-14-30  |  EVGA 3080 FTW3 Hybrid  |  Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe 500GB - Boot Drive  |  Samsung 850 EVO SSD 1TB - Game Drive  |  Seagate 1TB HDD - Media Drive  |  EVGA 650 G3 PSU | Thermaltake Core P3 Case

If what I said above is true, yes. Post a topic question on if ddr4 ram comes at 2133 put of the box, or search it up, for verification though

Your motherboard won't explicitly stop the 3600 from working, but reaching that frequency out of the box is not guaranteed.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.
