I know that on OLED(this includes AMOLED) when using a black wallpaper, it turns off the pixel completley, giving a better black color, but also saves battery. How about on LCD, does using black have any impact on power consumption, or does it just all use the same amount of energy whether you have a black wallpaper or a bright white wallpaper. Not talking about brightness levels.

OLED pixels can individually turn off (giving away no colour),whereas LCD displays filter the colours emitted by the backlight.The backlight itself never turns off,the filter changes to only allows certain colours to pass through it,thus an OLED display will,obviously, use less energy.

 

When it comes to bright white, OLEDs still consume more power than LCDs though.

 

And yes,using a black image on an LCD does reduce power consumption by a little bit.

It does,but not by too much.Some LCD displays(older ones) even use more energy to display back.But it isn't a big difference.
