Posted May 30, 2019 So today I will be picking up a new SSD at Micro Center. I want to get the 1TB WD Blue but i don't see it on their website (they sell WD Blues SSDs in 2.5 inch). So my question is, Would you trust a Micro Center brand M.2 SSD in terms of reliability? (This is just in case they do not have the WD Blue.) Posted May 30, 2019 I use exclusively inland SSDs at work. They're cheap but have been reliable. Haven't tried their M.2 SSDs yet. One thing to point out is that the most of the WD blue SSDs are SATA based SSDs, the inland drives are NVME. Check first that your system supports NVME. NVME is much faster, but the performance of the inland NVME drives aren't really that impressive. Look around for mydigitalSSD's or siliconpower's higher end drives, they're not much more than the inland NVME but are substantially faster. If you can't find them, just go for the inland NVME. It'll be plenty fast for basically anything Donate your unused computer resources for cancer and other research. Posted May 30, 2019 If you need a 2.5" SSD specifically for the form factor you can also grab that Inland for $90 or the Sandisk for $110 (same price as the WD Blue you're looking at): https://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?Ntk=all&sortby=pricelow&N=4294945779+4294820270+667&myStore=null Also, NVMe isn't much faster in actual use, so get what fits your budget or needs. So my PC case it the PC-011 dynamic which has terrible 2.5 inch ssd support. I am wanting to get the M.2 form factor. I have a 2.5 inch inland ssd and its pretty slow so I don't doubt what you're saying.
