So I recently upgraded my motherboard and added a new GPU (didn't have a dedicated one earlier) and when I hooked the GPU up with my monitor, I got no output, the motherboard VGA port worked fine, and I checked in device manager and I didn't see my card there either. I can't install drivers because the installer would say no AMD hardware was detected. And I did install my GPU in the motherboard properly. So what can I do?

Here's what I've tried so far:

Disabling integrated graphics from device manager

Uninstalling integrated graphics from device manager

Changing some settings in bios which looked something like PEG/PCI OR PEG/IGD and stuff.(I am still not sure which one I should select)

Spec

Core2 quad q8300

Zebronics g41 D2 mobo

4gb DDR2

MSI Radeon R7 240 2gb DDR3(don't ask why this one...)

PSU that came with my case: 500w

Windows 7( tried in windows 10 too)

not sure if your bios has the functionality, but can you see devices installed on your mobo within your bios?

i assume you bought the card second hand, maybe it was already broken?

The card is brand new, believe it not it's still available in my country! No I don't think my bios has that functionality :(

Can you return it to the shop for a new one or RMA it via MSI?

Got the replacement still the same problem...

Then it could be a broken slot on your motherboard - can’t really think of anything else...

can you boot up with the iGPU ? Does the card show in device manager ?

Nope still doesn't show in my device manager, and could it be the PSU it's pretty old. And the GPU fans do still spin so the pcie slot could still be broken?

What PSU do you have exactly ? If the fans spin then the slot is not broken - could indeed be PSU related

As I said earlier the PSU came with my case and neither of those are from any reputable brand, just a local manufacturer.

I mean considering the GPU doesn’t need any power from the psu, but takes it from the mobo it shouldn’t be that of an issue but still possible.

do you have different PC you could try the GPU in ? (A friend or relative ?)

That's the problem I don't have anybody to check it with. Thanks for your time though, I really appreciate it!
