Posted May 5, 2019 So I have a 120gb boot SSD however the files on the drive add up to roughly 60gb but windows explorer tells me that I only have 8.25GB free of 110GB. A WinDirStat run tells me I'm using 67 GB and I don't know what the issue is and where my space has gone. If someone could help me that would be great. Posted May 5, 2019 Screenshot? If you go to "settings", and then "storage", and then click on the drive, what does it tell you? I only see your reply if you @ me. Posted May 5, 2019 Drive size/formatting is wrong. Lots of small files in large pages. I had a glass of wine. So the name of the setting escapes me this second. But having 4k instead of say 256bit block sizes means every file could take up 4x to 8x the size it needs, as the min file size for a block would be 4k. Formatting will *delete all data!* but it may be your block size is wrong for the SSD. https://www.cocosenor.com/articles/computer/4-ways-to-format-ssd-drive-and-allocation-unit-size-for-it.html This tool may help: https://www.disk-partition.com/windows-10/ssd-alignment-windows-10-3889.html Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1061195-ssd-space-disappearing/#findComment-12540949 Share on other sites
