So my custom built pc was running fine and then all of a sudden, it just wouldn't boot anymore. After pressing the power button, it turns on but the screen is black and I don't see anything and nothing happens. The keyboard/mouse doesn't seem to get any power as the lights are not on.

I tried unplugging the outlet for a few hours and plugging it back in. I tried taking out the cmos battery for a few hours. I tried even doing a clear/reset cmos with the jumper (not entirely sure I did it right). I tried taking out the 4 memory sticks and only putting 2 back in (in different slots). None of these seemed to help. I noticed on the display screen on my mobo after turning it on, after running through a few numbers, the last thing that is displayed is 63 and it just stays on that.

Any ideas on what I can do?

So wait, do you see POST when you turn on computer ?  Can you get into BIOS ?  What OS are you using.  More info would help us figure out whats going on.

In the manual for the motherboard, it states "63 - 68 CPU DXE initialization is started"

However a google search seems to suggest it is a problem with loading into the RAM. It might be a mish mash of settings related to the speed of the RAM. As I understand it at least.

What seems to get it working is to start with only one RAM stick, and when it works, add them one by one.

If you have overclocked your RAM, try turning that off.

I have windows 10. And no I can't even get into bios. Literally, the computer powers on but nothing shows up on the screen and it looks like no power to USB devices. I overclocked my cpu but not ram. I figured taking out the cmos battery for a couple hours and putting it back in would reset any over clocking settings but that didn't seem to work. I'll try checking the ram one by one.

Here is my full specs.

So I tried cycling out the different sticks of ram and only using 1 stick at a time (and even different slots) but still no luck. I noticed that there is a solid yellow light (I think it is the dram led) - see the attached pic. My manual said there might be a memory issue so I clicked the memory ok switch and it cycled through and tested itself and restarted itself but still didn't fix the issue.

Did all my ram go bad at once? I tried doing a flashback with the bios but it didn't seem to update. Any other thoughts?

4 bad ram sticks at once. I don't think so.

There is something else going on here.

Did you manage to reset the BIOS?

If not, there is a guide to that here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/787870/Asus-X99-A.html?page=37

Should be the one for your motherboard.

How much have you overclocked the CPU?, what I am fishing for here is, does the CPU and the case generally run hot?

If that is the case, something could have taken damage on the board, especially if your motherboard is "old".
