Help required to get multiple audio inputs working

Currently, I have the creative pebble. It utilizes 1 USB and the green port (audio-out) on the back of my computer.

However, there are times when I want to use my earphones for gaming and I don't want to disturb anyone else. Is there a way for me to also plug it to the back of the PC and then toggle the sound output from the volume controls? I tried plugging it to the mic port, and no sound comes out. I think that's because only the sound will work.

Currently, what I'm doing is plugging the earphones to the front panel connector, but it's only plugged into the headphones port and I think there is hence no mic input for that. If it matters, I'm using a 3.5mm extension because my earphones are not long enough to reach my PC.

Thanks!

What sound card does your computer have?

Any modern variant of Realtek HD Audio should support outputting audio through any of the ports on the computer, front or back. When you connect a device it should pop up and ask what that device you just connected was.

For example I do a lot of DJing and I have a set a 4.1 speakers plugged into the back and a set of headphones plugged into the front of my case and the Realtek has no problems sending the master sound out to the speakers and the cue (headphone output) to the front panel as independent channels.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

I don't have a sound card, just onboard audio.

Maybe you can help me out a little bit here. There's currently 3 outputs to toggle from at the volume controls.

1) Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)

2) Dell U2415 (AMD High Definition Audio Device)

3) Realtek Digital Output (High Definition Audio Device)

The funny thing is only 1 gives me sound. The other 2 do not provide any sound at all. And for 1, it works as an either / or. Meaning, if I have the extension plugged in to the front of my case, then no sound comes out through my speakers at all. I have to pull out the extension before I can use my speakers. Hence, my dilemma.

Run the Realtek audio console, open settings and there's a tick box where you can enable simultaneous output. I don't remember the exact same.

Dude, thanks so much! You just solved a problem I've been having for the longest time ever.

Another quick question though. If I want to enable the mic as well on my earphones, do I have to get a splitter? Or can I just plug it into one port but get the mic working as well?

Does the mic have a separate jack?

You would typically need a splitter as most motherboards keep the mic and audio output separate.
