hello everyone,

i recently have had big trouble with my wifi. It simpely doesn't work for the needs i demand. My wifi range is very poor it can't even reach upstairs. my download speed is about 340kp/s and that's through a cable. and i can't play youtube videos on 1080p whilst laying on bed. i logged in the my router and made two domains one which has 2.4ghz and one with 5.0ghz. But i can't even connect to my 2.4ghz network when i'm in de addic. I recently called my provider and they come to help but they only fixed the TV which also didn't have acces to internet whilst it 5 meter away from the router. The router isn't even that old i think we had it now for like 2-3 years.

is it better to just buy a good router one which isn't from the provider, I was thinking about a asus one. Or what should i do?

Thanks in advance

To reach another stairs, you can get a wifi repeater, it is more efficient than having another router.

well i currently game on the second floor with a cabel it's connect to a TPlink box which is plugged into the wall. but soon i will be moving to the 3rd floor (addic). but the signal currently doesn't reach it so i can't watch youtube videos there or just general surfing on the internet won't work, the wifi doesn't pop-up on my ipad. the but is a repeater worth when the signal can barely reach the second floor.

Normally you put one in each floor or in every 2 or 3 rooms.

Put it somewhere where the signal starting to fade, use your phone to lookup the signal.

So in a 3 stories house you will need 2 or 3 repeater.

New routers won't help, even the best one will only manage to have good signal in the second floor.

If you have an old router lying around you can use it too as a repeater.

i currently have no router laying around haha, my provider takes them with them when they place a new one, which repeaters would you recomend? and do i need to change something in the settings from my current settings if i want to place a repeater?

Go to TPlink and choose one.

It's in the "range extender" menu.

You don't need to change anything in the router, you only need to supply the password to the extender and it will automatically repeat the signal.

Do you get this speed when plugged in via cable?

What's your wifi speed within 6 feet of the router?

hey thanks for your reply. The wifi speed within 6 feet is 186 mbps download speed and is 25 mbps upload speed. i'm currently waiting on my laptop to have some battery since it's the only portable device i can take and plug right into the router without the extension box.

okay this is wierd! i plugged my laptop directly into the router and may download speed is only 62.69 mbps and my upload is the same (25mbps). so basically my wifi has a better download speed then a cable.
