GPU cooling with CPU Dual tower

Hi guys,

I was thinking about removing stock cooler from my Zotac GTX 1080ti mini and using dual tower cpu heatsink on my GPU. I wanted to know can I cover the remaining part of the GPU with thermal pads and put heatsink on parts like vram and few other IC. Would that create any problems of over heating or thermal throttle. I have attached image for the parts that I want to cover with thermal pad. The CPU heatsink fits perfectly on the GPU. I am going to use this small heatsink for vram. The reason to cover most of the parts is to avoid heatsink to touch other parts and avoid short circuit.Screenshot_20190408-112746__01__01.jpg.666f1337e60d97b7b5ede8bcdaae98f2.jpgScreenshot_20190408-112746__01.jpg.75fca701c26ffecbb00aa09442a69528.jpgIMG-20190422-WA0004.jpg.44dd9ec873792924956c188a30621f93.jpgIMG-20190422-WA0003.jpg.042bcd2b6d9af642c76bb0bacb8a4b75.jpgae_1555600922190.thumb.jpg.249a3d391511dd3f8e3408d4d4c421db.jpg

its fine, go ahead.

Thanks for the reply,

Puting thermal pads all over will not create problem right?

And does cooling vram play major role in dropping the tems and performance?

Hi guys

I have applied the cooler but the issue is GPU is crashing after reaching 50°-51° C. Is it because the fan control of GPU is not there? Can you help me here with it.

Thanks in advance.

Those extra heatsinks, should not have thermal pads underneath them. They are supposed to be applied with some sort of thermal adhesive, and NOT thermal pads. I'd say, you're just insulating the parts that are covered, they way you've done it. You also are going to have little airflow over the surface mounted components, because you're using a tower cooler and not a downdraft cooler.

Not strictly helpful, but it also looks totally terrible!
