Since I solved the case issue I think this should be moved to New Builds and Planning. I don't think I can do that.

After a lot of configuring, I have settled on the components below. I've been working on putting together a low power capable SFF NAS for like 4 years, and have finally succeeded. Problem I always ran into was lack of 4 x 3.5" and 1 x 5.25" bays in a Mini-ITX case.


Here is my build


APU : Ryzen 5 PRO 2400GE w/RX Vega 11
RAM : 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2933

Still deciding on a PCIe to SATA or M.2 to SATA for the optical. I'm thinking a M.2 to SATA would be best so I still have the PCIe slot.

swap for a Ryzen 3 2200G. its an HTPC. a 2200G is more than enough, cheaper and honestly better for your usecase.

here is a build with suggested changes in case for lots of expandbility. 

 

note only 4 HDDs over Sata without needing a expansion card to fit the full 6 HDDs

The Ryzen 3 2200G has about twice the TDP of the 8700T. The AMD is about 65W while Intel is 35W. When going for low power AMD has never been a solution that I have noticed. Honestly getting away from Intel Management Engine is a great idea, but the power consumption of AMD is too bad.

So nevermind, I looked it up, and the Ryzen 5 Pro 2400GE is the perfect solution. It has a tdp of 35W but the gpu in it is good enough to replace the GT 1030. Thanks a lot for the recommendation, I'll be reconfiguring for AMD.

the 2200G is a very effiecient chip. and intel is notorious of breaking their TDP spec with powerconsumption. that 35 watt chip is not consuming 35 watts.

id recommend getting the 2400G and just underclock it unless you want to pay the little extra

I have no experience with messing with clock speeds and such plus the PRO has some workstation features, only problem is that the GE model it is not a cpu you can buy easily, they come in prebuilt machines. I edited the OP with my current build, it's now perfect. It's only taken me 4 years to finally configure a Mini-ITX SFF NAS. Thanks a lot for the AMD recommendation.
