Possible Smart Plug Problems?

I bought smart plugs because I was going to attempt a tv esc setup with a monitor with built in speakers

The monitor doesnt have a remote to turn it off and on, so I got the smart plugs to turn it off and on- but I had concerns.

 

Could just cutting the power cause issues to the display? Or would I be okay?
