DDR2 Ram upgrade issues!

Go to solution Solved by LuBlaBo,

Hey,

i have heard of this problem. Have you checked how much memory your motherboard accepts? Maybe it doesn't take all the memory. That could explain the NO POST

Greetings from Germany

Hello everyone,

I have an HP compaq dc7200p that I am trying to upgrade the ram in. The factory 512mb x2 sticks will run in dual channel but my 2gb x2 cause a no post and a bunch of beeps. The 2gb sticks both work separately in the first ram slot. I'm stumped and don't really know where or what to look for.

Thanks in advance,

Truedell

Well, some manufacturers who use custom mainboards only allow certified RAM upgrades in their systems. Pretty sure that includes HP as well. So you'd have to search for HP RAM specifically. And, well, good luck with that!

Thank you everyone for your responses. Turns out it was just too much memory for the little guy.
