hey,

I started my pc a couple of day ago and it showed the motherboard logo like normal, after that the screen went black. I booted into safe mode and that worked fine, I deleted the graphics drivers and installed new ones but it still showed a black screen. I used geforce experience and I tried it with drivers from the nvdia site. I tried booting with my old gpu and that started windows without any problem. I also tried unplugging everything from the pc except power and hdmi but still no result. I don’t have an idea what to do.

specs:

r5 2600

gigabyte gtx 1660 oc

msi thomahawk b450

corsair vengeance 550w

It worked for like 3 weeks. all fans are spinning. I hope someone knows how to fix this problem.

If it works fine with your old card I'd attempt a UEFI/BIOS update. Maybe a chipset driver for your motherboard too if you can get it.

It's possible you're looking at a broken card though. It does happen. If you can't get it running it might be worth doing an RMA.

What model is the old card?

what voids the warranty?

any thing more then what has been mentioned like pulling the cooler off or adding a custom Bios etc. Keep it simple this is a brand new card so there is no need to go overboard with trouble shooting it.

Just for clarfication, updating your motherboard's UEFI/BIOS as dDave recommended will not void your warranty.

Yes, however, I should have further noted that a power loss during the update could brick the motherboard. Extremely unlikely but the general rule is not to turn off your computer for any reason until the update is complete. Make sure nobody at your house is playing with the breakers for some odd reason.

Under normal circumstances though, nothing should go wrong and it'll be fine.

While I was reading the mobo manual I came across error led indicators, I found out that the vga led turns on when I boot the system. the manual said that that the gpu is not detected or fail. I think I should return it, haven’t updated bios yet, should I update the bios?

Typically I wouldn't tell someone to do a BIOS update just to do one as there is some slight risk there and if everything is working as you need it to then there's really no reason to.

That being said, it's possible that the BIOS is having a hard time with your graphics card and that a more updated version of the BIOS will see your card. It wouldn't be unreasonable to say that the BIOS not reading the GPU could be caused by an outdated BIOS.

After the update is done, I would try resetting BIOS/UEFI settings just to make sure there isn't an odd setting somewhere. Comb through the settings and make sure everything looks right as best you can tell.

No promises but if it were me I would give it a try.

As I stated earlier, you may be dealing with a dead graphics card. Updating your BIOS/UEFI would definitely shed a little more light on the subject though.

Same thing just happened to mine. Started by not waking up from sleep mode. Monitor would always show "No signal". Swapped outputs, swapped PCIE slots.

Would show the BIOS screen and as soon as the windows logo and spinning appears it would black out again. Finally was able to boot in safe mode to uninstall drivers. After drivers were removed, I was able to boot normally, but as soon as the drivers would get installed it would crash again.

Sent it back for RMA today.  It was working well for about 3 weeks running at cool temps and decent FPS  70+ at max settings

Yeah. Probably just get into the BIOS and reset to default. Doesn’t have to be a hardware switch. You could technically remove the battery for a few minutes though. Make sure to write down what settings you have for your boot drive as you won’t be able to boot if you don’t have the same settings (ex AHCI, Optane and stuff like that. Whatever applies to your build)

I’m probably going to send it back too, I’m tired of troubleshooting it for 2 days :P
