Hi all,

recently i bought a set of Corsair dominator ram 2x4 kit (sale)

but running only 8 gigs isnt gonna cut it for me, so now the question:

I have a 2x16 kit from ballistix and im wondering if i can run them together. i dont mind overclocking the ram, only wondering if different size mem works together.

otherwise im gonna use the new ram for another build.

-Corsair dominator platinum 2x8 kit 3600mhz

-Ballistix sport LT 2x16 gb 3000mhz

-Motherboard: Giby ab350 gaming 3

Different sizes is fine, as long as you fit them in their correct pairs so you don't end up with 8GB on one channel and 32GB on the other.

If you already have it running dual-channel with the 2x4GB then it should be as simple as sticking the 2x16GB in the other slots.

There is a good chance you will only be able to run the old sticks at 3000Mhz though.

The variable I'm not 100% sure of here is being an AMD platform as I have heard they are more picky.  Never had issues mismatching RAM on Intel but heard lots of people struggling on AMD.  It couldn't hurt to try though, just bearing in mind you might need to set the speed and timings of all RAM to match the slowest.

yeah, intel most of the time automatically sets the speed to lowest ram setting, but i can manually change it if needed.

RAM timings are my Achilles heel, never ever touch them. ;)  Thank goodness XMP works fine on my board.
