GPU issues/weridness

Building a new system, I have 2 2080ti FE in Nvkink.  I got to the point with the new build I needed a graphics card. I turned my old system off unplugged it. DC'd everything I needed to, pulled the second card out.  Both cards were working fine before I pulled the 2nd one out. And they are working fine now.  But I needed to get back on my old system, Windows 10 would not recognize the card.  No Control panel either when I open Gefore Exp, it said I needed to download the driver.  And in device Mang. I got a code 43 which fixed it's self when I disabled and re-enabled the card. But the first problem still was there. I spent 5 hours trying everything I know.  I swapped the card out the same issue, uninstalled the drivers etc.  So I put the second card back in hooked up NVlink and fired it up and it all worked again. I would really like to have my old system up until I get the second running. Anyone got any ideas what this was?  Thanks.

Performing a clean install of the drivers when the single card is in. Through nvidia, not device manager. 

 

Thats what I do when windows messes up with multiple cards. 

Main RIg Corsair Air 540, I7 9900k, ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero, G.Skill Ripjaws 3600 32GB, 3090FE, EVGA 1000G5, Acer Nitro XZ3 2560 x 1440@240hz 

 

Spare RIg Lian Li O11 AIR MINI, I7 4790K, Asus Maximus VI Extreme, G.Skill Ares 2400 32Gb, EVGA 1080ti, 1080sc 1070sc & 1060 SSC, EVGA 850GA, Acer KG251Q 1920x1080@240hz

Well, I took them out of SLI mode and uninstalled the drivers, then I shut down the system, turned off and unplugged it. Let it sit for a minute or so, fire it back up and then installed the drivers, clean installed them. ANd it worked like a charm.

Good deal. I think it’s a windows 10 issue with the last year of patches. Never once had issues like this and now I get it every once in a while. Not like it’s often I remove cards anymore though.
