I'm cleaning and testing an old Xeon T5400 to sell on and I have an obscure RAM issue. It has 4x1GB FB-DIMM modules and all 4 are detected in the BIOS, but on the same page it says that there is 2GB installed. If I put one stick in, it shows 1GB, put 2 in and it shows 1GB, put 3 or 4 sticks in and it shows 2GB. Any combination of sticks in all slots so long as slot 1 has memory in it the same issue. All detected but only 1 or 2 GB is reported as installed.

Anyone got any ideas? I'm not putting money into replacing RAM and CPU as the PSU alone is worth more than I paid for a pair of machines but I'm not happy to sell it on if there's a potential for it to fail, plus 2GB of memory isnt enough really now.
