System:

64bit Windows 10

GTX 1080 SC

intel i5 4690k

cooler master 212 evo

asus gryphon z97 mATX mobo

8gb ddr3 2400mzh ram

I upgraded from my old r9 380x yesterday to an evga gtx 1080 SC. I used DDU once in safe mode to remove the old amd drivers, and then i replaced the card and installed the newest gforce drivers for my card. Im worried that the drivers are acting up though since many of my games keep crashing and not loading, along with simple tasks like opening chrome can mess up. Apex legends is for example crashing every game and closing discord along with it, rust isnt working either, it has started to crash while i load into servers. And sometimes when apex crashes my whole screen goes black and the monitor stops recieving a signal from the pc. Could this be something to do with the old drivers interfering? Im going to overclock my cpu next week when i get my new AIO cooler, maybe this will help? Just need help determining whats causing all these issues.

I think you need a comprehensive system cleanup. I recommend you take a look at a tool I use called Auslogics BoostSpeed, which can remove any hidden junk files you have and correct major registry problems.

(I know you're probably thinking "eeegh registry bad don't touch that..." but it works, and I've used it hundreds of times to fix problems like this)

Your other option is to fresh install Windows 10, which is what I would do since everything after W7 is royally F*(K3D UP.

----Also get rid of chrome for god's sake, google is trash. Firefox is better and doesn't cause problems like chrome and MSIE.----

pretty sure on system restore you can select "keep files/documents"

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

Or just backup everything by hand before the reset.

But if ya really wanna get advanced, go for full disk imaging. I work on a lot of weird and old systems, and disk imaging technology saved my life!

Just look up how to install Windows.

That is, unless you got your stuff pre-packed and you have no idea what you're doing, in which case you're better off reading books all day long.

People are hopeless... it astounds me that anyone over the age of 20 actually believes they can properly learn to use and maintain a computer to it's full potential for the first time, much less at all, especially with "new" systems. It takes years of practice and dedication to understand the most basic, fundamental inner workings of computer systems, and even then you're hardly scratched the surface. Some people shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a computer, they should be restricted to only having chalk and watercolor paint!

(Sorry, tech support frustration rant)

I built the beauty that I am using right now after about 2 days of research.

Uh, no. We're talking full rebuild and reinstall here.

No drivers should be wiped. They are almost always in a read-only state.
