PC was shutdown while installing AMD DRIVER HELP

rippls

I decided to update the driver from 19.1.1 to 19.2.2 ..

I have rx580 so i downloaded the drive from amd website..

Unzipped the package and clicked on setup.exe

when the setup reached 25% the electricity went off for like 5 min..

then i tried to boot to windows (I have Ubuntu and windows 10 dual boot) my monitor loses it signal after the windows logo .

What i tried

1-BOOTING INTO WINDOWS 10 SAFEMODE AND UNINSTALLING DRIVERS USING DDU

2-REINSTALL THE DRIVERS (THE OLD ONE I HAD 19.1.1)

I can boot to windows after uninstalling .

When I try to install the driver after uninstalling from safemode  it reaches 20% and i lose singal to the monitor..

i use display PORT TO DVI CABLE (DVI FROM MY MONITOR TO DISPLAY PORT IN MY RX580)

Writing this from ubuntu with 640x480 resolution :( ?

Note

the rx580 appears on device manager and in system info in ubuntu aswell

Any suggestion what should i do ? is my graphics card  a brick now ?

Sorry for bad english :(

first thing to do is opening Comand Prompt as Admin and do:
chkdsk C(doublepoint) /f

reboot and let it check the drive.

Or better, if you have another PC; remove the Windows Disk and do it there.

Try using a HDMI to DVI Adaptor, that limits the Resolution of your screen to 1080/1200p at 60Hz but its more reliable than DP.

That you loose the Signal is totally normal, but it should come back.

So what I'd do is deinstall it again, download the driver and then start the installation process and wait for a good amount.

It reboots automatically after a time.

The Installation takes about 2-5min or so, depending on your system.

Remove the DP-> DVI Adaptor and put it back in. Its hotpluggable.

And DP is sometimes a bit weird and doesn't work like it should.

PS: Do you happen to have one of those DVI -> HDMI Adaptors that came with older Graphics cards? And an HDMI Cable?

I haven't used DP with my RX480 in a long time, mostly because the cables don't seem to last too long with me. And they aren't cheap...

But right now I use my Dell U2410 with my Ryzen 2400G system with DP Cable because it only has 2 outputs...

Still, DP is weird.

Can you test another driver?? Like the latest 18.12 or so??

Try CHKDSK /f first pls.

And delete the driver, re download it.

Ther might have been an error in the filesystem. That should be fixed.
