Hey,

Wondering if somebody can help me, I'm not sure on why but for some reason I get quite low FPS compared to other people that have the same hardware as me.

I'm playing @ 1080p so surely I should be getting an average FPS of well over 100 on most games

Specs:

Intel Core i7-4790k

EVGA 1080Ti FTW3

16GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance Pro 1600MHz

CPU Cooler: Corsair H80i v2

Have already tried re-applying thermal paste on both cpu&gpu just as a first step to see if it was anything to do with temperature but didn't seem to help.

Below is a benchmark on rise of the tomb raider and HWmonitor&GPU-Z Screenshots.

Screenshots

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K | GPU: GTX 1080Ti | Case: Corsair 750D Airflow | Motherboard: ASUS Maximus Formula VI | RAM: 16GB Vengeance Pro | PSU: Corsair AX860

SSD/HDD(s): SAMSUNG 850 EVO 120GB, SAMSUNG PM830 256GB, SEAGATE 6TB | Optical Drive: Sony Optiarc AD-5280S CB-PLUS

Your motherboard is rather cheap, bad power delivery can of course result in bad frequencies, not to mention the vast majority of people who shelled out for the most expensive Haswell CPU overclock it, bug difference there. Really though that mobo is awful for that CPU.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

EDIT: Updated it on here.

I was about to flame you for saying it's cheap until I realised that they're my old specs, I forgot to update them on the forums lol.. I've got a Maximus VI Formula, Hence the GTX 970 being on there aswell haha

I've already tried this unfortunately and no luck :(

Something's telling me that the problem lies with my CPU, it is kinda old but I thought it wouldn't have any problems seeing as it is still considered a "good" processor even in 2019

Eh... Your CPU isn't getting maxed out, and the 4790K is still a very capable processor. What cooler do you have on it? It seems to be getting pretty toasty.

Your 1080Ti on the other hand, that's being maxed out quite clearly. Try installing MSI Afterburner and increasing the power limit as high as it'll go. See if that makes any difference.

I've got a Corsair H80i V2 AIO

And what difference will that make? I do have everything set to stock at the moment power&clock speeds, Haven't even attempted to OC my gpu yet

HWMonitor shows the GPU as hitting the power limit. It might do nothing, or it might do something. Figured it might be worth trying.

your cpu hasnt hit 100% usage and looks to lower its clocks when not in usage (something i personally have turned off but under load shouldnt make loads of difference)

your gpu however looks like it has hit a power and voltage limit, hitting max utilisation, maybe try increasing the max power limit in some software?

CPU: i5-4690k @ 4.4 GHz | RAM: 12GB DDR3 1333MHz | GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 580 4GB

Alright, I'll give it a go now.. I already have EVGA precision set up so I'll use that and post the results.

try 1440p and see what fps you get the cpu might be bottlenecking the gpu
