Lenovo Thinkpad Help!

Hello,

 

I currently own a Thinkpad E570 Model Type: 20H50047US

 

Unfortunately, this model does not have a USB type C port. Recently on Facebook, I spotted a USB-C lenovo dock for only $15 ($170 new). I went ahead and snatched it up knowing its value. Only issue is that I don't have any USB C Ports on my laptop. I tried using a USB-C to Type A phone charger but this gave errors in device manager. Am I SOL? I think I could purchase either a type C to type A adapter or a Type C to type A 3.0 cable and it would work, but I am not sure.... Luckily I can probably just resell and even make a profit. 

 

Any ideas?

usb-c supports all kinds of things usb-a doesn't. including displayport and thunderbolt. that's why a type a to type c adaptor won't work. those adaptors are only designed to support usb. not displayport and thunderbolt etc.

 

i assume because it's a dock it has display outputs on it etc... that's why it's not working.

I got what you're saying. Here's what I am thinking. At work we use this dock. This doesn't use USB-C on the dock input, yet allows for display port to pass through. This is just a USB 3.0 port but not in the Type-A style.
