i just bought my motherboard before everything else (other than the case) which i know i shouldn't do but it was on sale and it was soooo cheap and so it has been sitting in the box and im wondering if it is safe to mount it in my case.

Depends, if you've got an aftermarket cooler that uses a backplate and your case doesn't have a back plate cutout, then I wouldn't bother. Otherwise, I guess you can. Though I personally wouldn't - dust build up ect - I would want my DIMMs clean xD
ya my case has a cut out but i didnt even think of the dust.
