Hi, I recently build a new system and after few days it started to freeze. I tried everything, checked for malware, updated all drivers, tried deleting temp files, checked all drives via windows drive check tool. I read somewhere that disabling C-STATES helps so i disabled it. My temperatures are pretty normal(CPU default: about 30 °C, drives same, GPU also same, in load about 60 °C). But nothing I mentioned helps. I think maybe the BIOS is dead or something else with the motherboard.

System:

CPU: AMD FX-8300

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050Ti(MSI)

RAM: 2x8 GB DDR3 1600MHz

PSU: Corsair CX650M(650W)

MB: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P

Drives: 240GB SSD(boot drive), 2TB HDD

OS: Win 10 Pro 64-bit

I boot to windows normally and after few minutes it freezes(if some audio is playing it just stops, peripherals and displays not responding). And yes, I can go to BIOS normally.

u meanwhile windows logo loading? after freezes?

Yes, I just boot into Windows, do some stuff, watch youtube and it just freezes out of nowhere. It is not happening in time period. It didn't freeze for 3 days, so I thought no more freezing, but it did it again next day.

please try to update the latest bios version. watch youtube videos for tutorial in order to make update safety.

okay, I checked a site, it is the latest version of bios. can u try default settings from bios?

Hello,

So I do not think it is software or windows issue.

Several AMD FX cpus have problems like that.

The worst is the FX-9590 but the FX-8300 also has same problem.

There is a fix but it will sometimes work.

Enter your Bios and program bios to CPU speed and no overclocking.

All setting for CPU including voltage must be set manually.

Do not use auto for cpu or you will keep getting freezes.

A google search will show you same problems for almost any FX CPU.

It seems the freq varies to much and that in turn locks up windows.

I went thru same thing with my old FX-9590 and finally gave up after 3 years of constant trouble.

I have replaced every part including my mobo and cpu just to have same issue.

I would suggest you get rid of the CPU and fo with non-FX CPU.

Hope the info helps.

Vashta

What u mean? Like restoring the default config of bios?

yes, do it. because a processor likes AMD fx version they kept not constant voltage. You need to adjust to an auto voltage or try it in default config in bios.

I did restore the default configuration, but it still freezes. Now I am in the process of setting all of the Auto preset vaules to constant ones. But I can't find what voltage for vCore and NB core.

I think you can visit site them to find a specific voltage set site link here - https://community.amd.com/thread/199681

Your problem is pairing a 4+1 vrm power phase design with an fx8300 processor... needs at least a decemt 6+2 one... anyway for v.core set 1.375v for cpu-nb set 1.225v. Dissable all power saving features and turbo boost.

yes,that's right.

Well personally that's just the first step. If it stabilizes then I would go for 1.28v for vcore, try to see if i can get it stable up to 3.6-3.8Ghz just from multiplier and set cpu-nb to 1.25v (i noticed that for all fx memory controllers they prefer to have at least that much for cpu-nb).

That shouldn't affect the mobo life span (luckly its a gigabyte, they don't have the best vrm's quality wise but they're pretty robust, i know from my own experiments).

in 1.4v are overclocking and for adjusting should be at least 1.4v and not recommend at 1.5v.

Maximum value I can set is 0.something. There is nothing like 1.something so Im confused. Im seeing screenshots of bios where people have like many digits number so Im wondering why I dont have it there.

then do it set as 0 value something. or you may Disable these settings in the bios:
C1E state
CPU unlock
Core c6 state
CnQ
Turbo Boost <- very important to turn this off for stability reasons
