MSI Streaming Boost

I wasn't really sure where to put this, since the capture card comes with the MSI godlike gaming I thought I would post here... 

 

I've already contacted MSI support but they didn't help at all, my MSI Streaming Boost capture card isn't working. In OBS and XSplit it just shows black and gives an error respectively. the cable I have going from it to my monitor has shown me issues in the past, when I used it for my vive it would make my main monitor go black for a split second every couple of seconds. I thought it would do the same but still work with the capture card, I'm not sure if the cable is the issue or if it's something else. I will be trying a different cable tomorrow, just have to find one first. Any help or confirmation of my suspicions about the cable would be much appreciated.
