Help in Choosing a GPU

kentonwill

When I first built my computer I was on a tight budget back almost exactly a year ago when some component prices were still ridiculous. Since then I have upgraded my CPU, MOBO & RAM and I am currently running the 3GB ASUS 1050ti that I originally purchased. I now want to upgrade my graphics card and I was wondering, right now with prices, what my best option would be, taking into consideration what parts I have atm:

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x

MOBO: ASUS ROG Strix B450-F

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (8x2) 3200MHz

PSU: Corsair CX450

I was looking into jumping up to a 1070 or 1070ti and was curious whether any AMD cards are worth using (there's an RX580 on Newegg for $290 CAD)?

Thanks in advance.

How much VRAM does the $290 RX580 have?

I'd definitely recommend the RX 580 8GB, although I feel like the PSU isn't enough for an 8GB RX580. Sure, it's fine for your 1050 Ti but I have my doubts about an RX580, nevermind a 1070..

Seems okay. Your PSU should in theory be okay to use with that card since the whole build would draw ~300W.

Although I wouldn't recommend that card. It's okay but I'm not too sure about the cooling solution MSI have used for that. If it's in budget I would go for a card like this: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125962https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202278, or https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137290

How would you rank the 580's performance compared to Nvidia cards? I'm just more familiar with Nvidia's lineup and was wondering if it performs like somwhere between a 1060 - 1070 or what? I was hoping to stay around $400-$500 so those cards are within my range

580 8GB is around 1060 6GB sort of territory.

If your budget is $400-500 I'd go for this: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126193
