Alien Resurrection

Hello everyone! I am planning a very ambitious project. I plan to take a friends old Alienware SSF X51 and update it with new components. It was on the haswell platform with a 4310 or a 4130 cpu and a gt 645 GPU. 

Now, I am having a hard time picking cpu because the power envelope is about 300w, 330 peak, and I am pushing for a gtx 1070 inside.

So the problem is that the games my friend plays does not like i5s too much, sadface, so I am hoping for some advice and insight. Is a i7 8700 + gtx 1070 too much for 330w? Is a R5 2600 + gtx 1070 too much? I watched GNs old video about 450w psus,  and a R5 1600x + 1070 never hit 300q, and in a kit guru artical about the MSI Aegis 3, with a 8700 + 1070 ti that peaked at around 320w.

Just go to PC partpicker use the component list you have and see what the power budget looks like. My personal rule of thumb is 100W more power than what is needed for the system. You want your PSU to operate in the optimum region of your power output of the PSU. As you go close to the rated power of the PSU, the operation becomes less optimum.

At 3:46 Jay was talking about his GTX680 watercooled system pulled 320W from the wall, although I don't know what CPU he used.
