What you have that connected to is is the HDD activity indicator.

It should be connected to the upper right most set of pins on that header.

I hav recently built my new pc. But something is wrong. My motherboard lights up yelloe even though my computer wont start. I googled a bit and i think its something with the ram. What should i do. Do i need to get new ram? Need help. ASAP . Reminder i know i dont have a graphics card or ram in the computer in the pic cuz i took it when i had taken it out... its now in again.

Specs: ryzen 7 1700 , asus prime b450m-a, evga bq 500 w, gigabyte rx 580 8gb, toshiba 240 gb ssd, 1tb wd blue 54mb 7200 rpm, be quiet! Purewings 2 140mm , corsair 2x4gb 2400mhz ram and a phanteks eclipse p350x chassi.

That yellow is normal for Asus Prime motherboards. It's the built-in LED, and is simply aesthetics, it's nothing to do with RAM.

I own the Asus Prime Z370-P and mine has orange LED lights, but I turned those off in the BIOS/UEFI.

reseat the ryzen CPU, check the power cables (especially the CPU supplemental on the top of the board)

does the CPU fan (or case fans) spin when you try and power on?

Nope no fan starts to spin

its possible but usually RAM issues would start to boot and either get stuck in a boot loop or just would sit with fan spin

did you try reseating the CPU and ensuring the PSU connectors are all fully seated?

what about front panel power switch is it connected to the correct header

Make sure your ram is in the correct slots, also make sure you put the GPU back in for testing as your chip doesn't have integrated graphics

I just got a Prime B550 board, and am so annoyed by this yellow light. The color scheme for the Prime line is white/black. Whoever thought it was a good idea to throw in a non-addressable yellow LED is an idiot. You can turn it off, but it actually would make for a nice bias light, if only it would be white.
