One of the PC's at my work has been having a problem over the last few months where the mouse will just not work intermittently.  We've tried his mouse on other PC's and it works fine.  We've tried multiple other Mouses (mice?) on his PC and the same problem occurs.  We've tried different USB ports, they all work fine (all six of them) with the keyboard, or any other peripheral we plug into it...they just will not work with a mouse.

Any ideas?

It's an older Windows 7 HP machine.  Upgrading it isn't an option because it's not my computer, so there is that.  If there is a test i can run that would prove that one of the pieces of hardware is actually faulty, then I could possibly get an upgrade.  But for not, it seems to much to me like a software thing since all the ports and hardware work with every other type of peripheral.

Thanks

Next time the problem occurs, try seeing if the windows key is responding. Could be temporary lock-up's

When it happens, the mouse is the only non responsive peripheral connected.  The keyboard, printer, credit card reader etc all work fine.

Hmm weird indeed, Try to use safe mode, It the mouse work in safe mode then just uninstall the driver and dont forget to tick "delete the driver software" option.

After that reboot the PC and try the mouse again.
