DIY Security cameras?

I saw Linuss video on making his own security camera and i was intrigued to make a simpler version. The Rasberry pi method is far too expensive for multiple cameras so after some research i found people who inexpensively turned webcams into security cameras but i still have a few questions. Im planning to put the cameras in fake CCTV cameras to look authentic.

Is there a way to make it wireless?

If not what would be the max length of the usb cables or could i convert it into another cord?

If a laptop doesn't have enough usb ports would i be able to use a usb bank? any suggestions?

I'm planning on having one outside is it possible to have night vision and adjust to daylight (without going off)?

What's the best software for this type of thing?
