My gpu, a Nvidia Quadro 5000, is having issues whenever I install the recommended nvidia driver (Quadro driver 377.83) or let windows update the driver the card gets disabled, it runs of the basic Microsoft VGA adapter, and a heap of pixels turn to the wrong colours. I have tried rolling back the driver through device manager it apparently rolls back from 377.83 to 369.49 which should allow full 1080p but is only allowing 1280x1024 and is listed as a Microsoft basic display device. It was working fine with the 377.83 driver then stopped working one day randomly, I'm not sure why it stopped working but does anyone have some ideas on how to fix it?

You can use something like DDU (display driver uninstaller) to wipe all traces of the driver out of windows, lots of folk recommend it here, but I do not. It is an option however. Then download last known good driver and use that, and do not update.

If the driver will not install, then the card might have gone bad...
