Can browse web. But Internet icon says not connected?

LTT_Member

I recently upgraded my Internet and for some reason I can browse the web fine. But the wifi icon on my task bar says I am disconnected. It has a white asterisk by It but no signal strength. When I lock my computer screen it will show that my wifi icon on the login screen is full strength. I have also tried plugging in a Ethernet cable in my computer but that to would have a red X next to it. I can still browse the web with it just fine. I would like to know what should I do to get rid of the icon?

You probably have more than one wifi adapter or an unused vpn adapter. Open Network Connections and disable any unused adapters.

To open network connections

1. Press Windows Key(Flag) and R

2. Type ncpa.cpl in the box

3. Press ok

To disable a unused adapter

1. Right click on the adapter

2. Disable
