It's time for Round 2

Howdy fellow nerds –

It's been almost 3 years since my initial n00b PC build. Now I'm looking for some upgrades b/c my 960 and FX-6300 are moaning whenever they meet any remotely demanding game. I was hoping the experts here could recommend new parts to fire this rig up again? I'm looking to make the move to an Intel CPU. I've heard that Intel's CPU's and NVIDIA graphics beat out AMD in high-end specs. What I intend on keeping from the old build:

- Case: Deepcool Genome II (Integrated CPU water cooling, supports major form factors & sockets)

- Storage: Crucial SSD, Seagate Barracuda HDD

What I'm looking for with $1000 budget:

- CPU (Probably Intel)

- GPU (1070-2080 range?)

- Mobo (Asus seems highly recommended?)

- PSU (capable of overclocking if CPU is able)

- RAM (My current is DDR3 and might be outdated / bottlenecking?)

I haven't been in the market since my initial build so I'm hoping an upgrade can get me back to 60 FPS in X-Plane 11, Star Citizen, PlanetSide 2, etc...

I would look into ryzen on that budget

1070 ti is highly recommended for the low price it's going for rn

Asus is getting meh on some newer boards. Most boards from msi, asus, asrock, gigabyte and evga will do you fine, exept for the 300 series msi boards, those are kinda crap.

You can get a cx550m, that would be enough, only higher quality matters here

You need ddr4 for the newest platforms, 2666+ for intel, 3000+ for ryzen
