"CPU Fan Error" and "CPU Over Temperature Error"

I built my PC 3 years ago from scratch. Everything was working well till yesterday. 
But since this morning I have been receiving two errors when I boot my PC.

I get:

CPU Fan Error!
CPU Over Temperature Error!
Press F1 to SETUP.


When I press F1 and check BIOS settings it shows me that CPU temp is 88° C.
I updated my BIOS version and put my BIOS settings at "Default Settings" and reboot again but still I see the same errors. 
My fan makes a lot of noise too which it didn't till last night.
The error came in effect only after I removed PSU power cable to check other system and plug it back again.

CPU : Intel Core i7-4790K
Motherboard : ASUS Z97-A
CPU cooler : Corsair Hydro Series H60
RAM : 8GB Corsair Vengeance (x4)
GPU : Asus STRIX GTX 970
PSU : CORSAIR CX series CX750 750W ATX12V

fans die over time, not always but they can. do you have a second CPU cooler to try to fix the problem with?

Well one of them is bad. What is plugged into the cpu header? The pump or fan? Shouldn’t be too hard to figure out what’s wrong once you know that.
