I think he's talking about physical size.

A friend of mine is looking to add a second drive to his G74, what is the maximum hard drive size that he can put in his laptop?

Confirmed the G74/G75 series from ASUS should accommodate up to a 9.5mm hard drive, or smaller with shims, due to its' larger chassis.
