Mac Pro 4,1 and unRAID

Hello, I have an unRAID little test build with an extra computer I had lying around, I wanted to move it to my Mac Pro which is currently doing nothing in a corner so I decided to make an unRAID USB and try to boot it. it doesn't boot at all unless i use rEFInd from my mac drive. when it does boot, it throws a kernel panic similar to the one in this thread. does anyone have any ideas on what I could be doing wrong or what i could try to do instead? Thanks

P.S. this 4,1 Mac is flashed to the 5,1 firmware.
