Budget (including currency): £2000 (two thousand pounds) Country: England Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Zbrush, Photoshop, Keyshot, Maya, Illustrator, Marvelous Designer, Mari, Other details: Upgrading from - See attachment - When am I looking to buy? ASAP - Hey all, so I'm a digital artist, well, was, wanna make a resurgence. I know nothing about building a pc - I go onto a site, and use the drop down options and pick ones that are fairly close to the bottom in the hope they are the best haha. All I currently know is that I would like the 3080 graphics card so that I can dynamesh huge amounts of polys without zbrush freezing or crashing as it does now. Any advice would be amazing, I'd really like a good few ideas I can go to someone with and have them order the parts and build it for me. Local business. So if anything goes wrong, they aren't far away for help. Many thanks

Hello, I am building a coworker a budget system and was wondering what the best option would be for a workstation. They're getting an Ryzen 2700 & 32GB of RAM. He told me he uses the following software: Zbrush Unity 3D Unreal Engine AliceVision I have seen some graphics cards on the used marked and was wondering what the best one to get is. Out of the ones below which would be the best recommendation for his use case? Potential cards; Nvidia Quadro M4000 (8GB) ~$200CAD Nvidia GTX 1070 (8GB) ~$220CAD Nvidia GTX 1080 (8GB) ~$400cad (seems overpriced) Nvidia RTX 2060 (8GB) ~$400cad (seems overpriced) Would the Quadro be a good card since it's designed for workstation applications? I know it's quite old at this point and the Wiki page says its closest comparable GeForce Model would be a GTX 970. Would my friend see better performance gains for his application from a workstation card or would the other cards listed offer more performance? Thanks!

First blog: Deciding on tools for my major
Marinatall_Ironside posted a blog entry in JurunceNK's Blog
Welcome to my first blog guys :) If you've viewed my profile already, you may have seen that I'm a college student majoring for video game design. But that also doesn't come with any obstacles that aren't easy to overcome. I need to be able to get the things needed to get my associates degree with a budget of ~$5,700. When I was thinking about "what tools do I really need to make this time swift and easy and that they'll last for a very long time?" When I was looking around on Amazon, I knew that I would need to get books for 3ds Max, Maya, Mudbox, Photoshop, ZBrush, and video game development. Also to add on top of that I would particularly need to grab a powerful-enough desktop or notebook whichever one I can get that will allow me to do some crazy things in those programs because I intend to create a total conversion mod to add to my professional portfolio so that I can land a job at Blizzard Entertainment, starting out as a 3D animator and ascend to become a video game director/developer. Also as a key peripheral that will allow me to do things quickly and easily without having to use the keyboard and mouse all the time, I want to grab myself a Wacom Cintiq 13HD graphics tablet as starters because it has great color accuracy, better drivers, and it's not so big, heavy, and extremely expensive. Okay now to get back on topic on computers, when I was looking on Amazon, I was thinking to myself "should I build a strong workstation, or grab a laptop so that I can do more wherever I'm at?" And those two things narrowed down to "custom workstation or an MSI GT80 Titan SLI?" I know this may get some to say "What?! :o Are you crazy? Are you going to be getting the top-end model which runs at $3,699?" No. I'm looking at the one with only 16GB of RAM because I feel like that should be plenty enough and I also do gaming as well so I also want to have a strong laptop as well so that I can max out games easily because I'm an ultra-settings gamer here. So what is your pick here for a PC? I also want to see what would be the best choice for me here as well so that I can fulfill my dreams. -
Budget (including currency): 2k, give or take Country: Belgium Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: UE, Maya, ZBrush etc. - game graphics artist - and gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I would like an opinion on a build I put together, here is the link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fBhJrD - any feedback or tips would be nice! Thank you very much!

I'm getting ready to build a new PC and I am looking for suggestions for the best CPU to pick in the $350-$550. My primary use will be 3D development and rendering in Maya using VRay, modeling in Mudbox and Zbrush, and texturing in Substance Painter. I also do tons of editing in Premiere. It would be great to be able to do some decent gaming as well, but this is less important. On a day to day basis I also do a lot of management tasks, so I tend to have 2 or 3 graphics apps open at once, plus tons of browser tabs, word, email, etc. My plan is to upgrade to either a 4k 4:4:4 monitor or possibly the LG 38" ultrawide (if this matters for CPU). I have been looking at i7 6800k, i7 7700k, and i7 6700k. The new AMD CPU's seem really tantalizing as well at this price range. I am a little wary since they are so new, but have been looking at Ryzen7 1700 and 1800. Any thoughts, suggestions, or comparisons would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm looking to build a new system that can handle sculpting programs with ease, and also handle millions of polygons in Blender better. Main programs that will be used are 3D Coat, and Blender (and Cycles Render engine in Blender). Often I do very large scale scenes in Blender with thousands of objects, which invariably leads to huge amounts of polygons. I'm in Israel, but Canadian pricing can work for me as well as I'll probably compare in any case. Was thinking something around 2,000-2,500 CAD or around 6,000-6,500 NIS. Mostly I'm looking for good performance per dollar, but also a system that will see me down the years fairly well. I'm running two monitors at 1080, am looking to upgrade one in the future to 4k, but not immediately, so I'm not including any peripherals in the build cost. And other than an SSD, I've got regular hard drive storage covered. Currently I'm running a five year old system with 16 GB DDR3 of ram, an Intel i5 3570, and a Geforce GTX 660, on an ASUS P8Z77-V Motherboard. I'm thinking of going for a Ryzen 7 1700(x?), and a Vega 56 (or perhaps a GTX 1080 but the performance per dollar isn't great so it would need justification). Not sure if more than 16GB of ram is necessary, I've only ever run into issues with 3D coat wanting more virtual memory, and that may be me just accidentally going beyond the specs of the function. I'm not really sure if I plan to overclock or not, but if I did it would not be to a very significant degree, stability is a far more attractive to me. Here's where I'm at so far (prices in NIS): AMD Ryzen 1700 ------------------ 1390 (the 7 1700x is 1610 and might very well be worth it) (an array of MB options, I have no idea really what makes one better than another anymore) ?Asus Prime b350-Plus ---------------- 500 ?MSI B350 Tomahawk -----------------580 ?Gigabyte GA-AB350 Gaming 3 ----- 530 Sapphire Radeon RX Vega56 8GB ----- 2480 Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4 2400Mhz----775 (Could get higher Mhz like 3000 or 3200 for reasonable price, but I've been looking around and Ryzen doesn't seem to be able to handle above 2600Mhz?) WD Green WDS240G1G0B 240 GB SSD M.2 ----- 445 Corsair Hydro H45 ----------------------- 260 Sharkoon TF5 Case----------------------------- 295 Power supply I really don't know, something around 500-600w? Which will cost somewhere between 200-500 NIS. Totals out at around 6,505 NIS

I was thinking about getting a graphics tablet for 3D sculpting specially in zbrush. I've been learning Blender for several month, but now trying to learn likeness sculpting in zbrush but most of the people are saying "get a graphics tablet" I didn't know much about graphics tablet, but in my budget i chose some tablet, (keep in mind the price is almost double in my country) 1. One by WACOM – Medium (8.5 x 5.3 in 2k pressure point) 2. Wacom Intuos S (6.0 x 3.7 in 4k pressure point) 3. HUION H640P (6.3 x 3.9inch 8k pressure point) Soooo which one should i get? i really liked the one by wacom medium since it's kinda bigger then other those, but is has only 2k o pressure point. and my question is is 2k pressure enough? or should i get that 4/8k pressures tablet? and since i'm using 22inch 1080p monitor 6.0 x 3.7inch is enough? or that 8.5 x ,,,,,, is good for me ? maybe don't suggest other than these two company,

Despite me having slightly upgraded my old Dell laptop, it simply isn't cutting it anymore. It's an Inspiron 5437, running an i7 4500U 1.8Ghz(2 cores) CPU , 16(2x8) GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM, 500Gb SSD, Geforce GT 740M. So I'm thinking of going for a Desktop PC, and I imagine I won't need to spend a whole lot to outperform those specs... My budget is from CAD$ 800.00 to CAD$ 1,200.00. Also, I'm wondering weather I could stay as close to the lower end of the budget but have the ability to invest in upgrades afterwards. I don't need a beefy GPU. In fact, I don't even need a graphics card at all, since Zbrush only relies on CPU and RAM. At most, a cheap card that would allow me to render my projects would be fine. I also don't care about RGB lights or fancy cases. Function over form all the way... How is this? Hello, I am currently looking to get a new system purely for 3D sculpting in Zbrush and Keyshot / Arnold rendering. Currently my plan is to get the following: CPU Threadripper TR4 - 2950X - 16 C / 32 T DDR4 - G.Skill 3400 - 8 x 8GB (64 GB Rams)- F4-3400C16D-16GSXW Mobo Phantom Gaming 6 However, Ryzen 9 - 3850X also comes with 16 C / 32 T if rumors stands correct, and it will be available in July. They both share the same number of cores and threads. For what I understand 3850X is not Threadripper. I am confused if I should get the Threadripper TR4 - 2950X now, or should I actually go with 3850X when both has the same cores and threads for what I want to use for. Thank you and appreciated.

Hello guys, I noticed a weird performance while using Blender 2.80 on my PC. Basically, when I move the camera or do something with the object the first few frames are really choppy, and it gets pretty annoying since moving the camera is probably the thing you most do when modeling. I tested it in ZBrush and I get the same problem, but this time it's more noticeable when hovering the brush over the model. The model itself is not heavy, in fact, it still happens with an empty viewport or a simple cube. Moving panels in Blender have the same effect. I just updated the graphics card driver and had no success. Although it took a lot of time to detect the compatibility (something close to 5 minutes), which I found to be pretty weird. I noticed that when moving the camera the GPU usage spikes from 0 to 50, maybe there's a delay or something that is causing this? I also changed the power cable before noticing this issue but I'm not sure if this can be the problem. My GPU is a EVGA GTX 1080Ti SC Black without overclock, I also have a Ryzen 7 1700 and 16GB on 3000MHz. I'm using a 4K monitor, but it still happens on my 1080p secondary monitor. I did some tests on my PC at work and I have no problems with it and it's running a 980Ti. The GPU spikes when moving the camera hardly go past 10%. I haven't noticed this issue while gaming. Does anyone know a solution for this issue? Thanks!

: Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 3d works and light gaming. Softwares mainly using will be Maya, ZBrush. Substance Painter. MSI B450 Tomahawk Max AMD AM4 Socket Motherboard AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Processor Asus TUF Gaming GeForce GTX 1660 Super OC Edition 6GB GDDR6 (TUF-GTX1660S-O6G-GAMING) Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit - Black (CMK8GX4M1E3200C16) Cooler Master MWE 650 Bronze - V2 Power Supply (MPE-6501-ACAAB-IN) Samsung 23.5inch Curved Monitor (LC24F392FHWXXL) Western Digital Blue SN550 250GB NVMe M.2 Internal Solid State Drive (WDS250G2B0C) I am new to building PC, i need some advice on the selected components as those are above my budget. is there any possible way to reduce the cost? Also, i chose AMD Ryzen 7 2700x instead of ryzen 5 3600x for the core and thread count and same price. Was the decision good? want to know if there is any difference between MSI B450-A PRO and MSI B450 Tomahawk as Tomahawk is 20% more expensive.

Hi guys! I need some help/advice on what CPU and motherboard I should go for. I am currently a student studying Games art and I require a computer that will perform well in the rendering and computing criteria. I'm not too fussed about the computer GPU because Unreal engine and other engines cater to that very well. I will be using programs such as Zbrush, 3dsmax ,and Substance painter. These programs eat up so much memory and CPU on my current PC. I would like some help on what CPU, RAM, and motherboard combination I should get for best performance. I was considering picking the parts and getting someone/ company to build it for me. I really have no idea where to start and any response would be really appreciated. My budget is £ 700 or $1000

Hello everyone, This is first time i am posting here. Sorry if i am posting in wrong place. Ok so i am planning to build a new Workstation/Gaming Pc very soon. Please advise me with some good configuration for it. For most of the time i will be using Unreal engine 4 and Autodesk Maya 2016. I will be having two displays (most probably 24 inch Full HD or more). As i work on 3D modeling and lighting i would be requiring both CPU and GPU power. I am thinking of going dual GPU or one good single. Multi-tasking would be there between the applications. So here is the thing. My budget for the build is $4500 ( Only for tower) Only Nvidia Cards and Intel processors I need an Ultra tower. and liquid cooling. I was thinking for NZXT 820 or cooler master Cosmos II Feel free to throw your recommendations. Thanks in advance.

Hello, Im a complete n00b when it comes to PC's and im seeking advice on my first attempt at building one. So when i say n00b i guess i use the term loosely, its more like "im not as competent than probably most of you on these forums". So if there is somthing i dont know, or ask to explain please dont get mad, im just a loser . So down to business, as it says in the title i have a $700 budget to make a computer meant to handle things like Photoshop, Zbrush, and the Unreal 4 engine. But im not going to use this computer for these programs exclusively, i will also probably be gaming to a small degree on this computer and will be using alot of FL Studios. I also want to have a 2 monitor set up (this is included in the budget). But if implementing a 2nd monitor will mean i decrease the hardware due to keeping within the budget, i can just wait and save for a 2nd monitor later on. Just keep in mind i would like to upgrade to a 2 monitor set up. Some other points to make are that windows 8 will be included in the budget, and if its necessary to go over the budget like $100 more or so im willing to save and wait if it means performance. I would also like the leniency of upgradablity if it can be helped. What i know i want already: (Not set in stone) Intel CPU Nvidia GPU SSD (for os and major programs) At least 1 2Tb HDD (for storage) an Optical Drive Like i said before, my knowledge of computers only goes so far. So if something i want seems unrealistic please dont be afraid to let me know, also some examples of good alternatives would be nice. With all this in mind, please help me build my first PC!!!

Budget (including currency): up to 3k if needed Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Programs Devinci Resolve, 3ds Max-Vray, Unreal Engine 4, Zbrush, Substance painter, Mari, Photoshop. Games, Wow, Call of duty and BG3 Other details Current PC 6800k@ 4.1ghz, 32 gb ram, 1070 gtx. 1000watt psu. 2x 1440p Monitor. Liquidfreezer - 420 aio I'm a 3D artist, i have started to do a lot of our pre-rendered video work into the unreal Engine. Now working from home have been struggling with some scenes we are working on, having Ray traying on with the 1070 is just a 2fps slidshow. I Have to force Ray tracying off, also the rendering is also starting to go all gpu. I max out the 8gb vram especaily with multiple 3d packages open. So i'm looking at the 3090 to put in my system, yes i know overkill for games and will bottleneck etc. Mainly i do Modeling/texturing, I do only do a few preveiw renders most renders are pushed out to the farm so i haven't felt the need for a beast Cpu yet. Mainly i need fast interaction and the ablitly to preview and paint on complex models and large texture sets in real time. For Work im convinced the 3080 10gb vram just will end up not being enough, on paper the amd look good but unsure how well they with production packages. (have been burned by amd in the past) The 3090 seems perfect all be a big investment, but will it be a massive detriment in my current system? My plans are 1 Get 3090 in my current system (as i need a RTX card) and forget about the bottle neck for games. (or will the production packages be bottlenecked too much) 2 Go ham and get. x570 board mobo, ryzan 5900, 3090 gfx, 64 gb ram, Nvme gen 4 drive. Trying to look benchmarks but not many around for production epsecaily a 3090 with a 6800k. At the moment i flip on what to do daily.. Thanks
