Hello, recently I’ve tried to setup my gaming PC for game streaming to my laptop so I could access all my games and files everywhere I go but I ran into issues when trying to get the WoL working. Here’s what I’ve tried: Enable “Wake on PCI-E” on my B550 Gaming motherboard. Enable port forwarding to my PC with the UDP protocol. Force USB power delivery when in sleep (tested). Prevent turning wifi adapter off to save power. Enable “Allow to wake PC” and other magic packet related things on the wifi adapter. After all of that, I tried connecting using my public IP and MAC address but it didn’t work. I then tried my local IP while being on the same network and it still didn’t work (tried 3 different apps). Important: I don’t have confirmation that my TP-Link USB U4E Archer supports WoL and no WoL settings were present on it but a Realtek PCI-E Family Controller popped up and all the steps related to the adapter were performed on this device. Could anybody help me solve this issue? Thanks!

Hardware: ASROCK Z370 EXTREME 4 TP LINK TX201 [2.5Gbps] Software: openmediavault_7.0-32-amd64 Unified Remote [paid] Hi, as per title i'm gonna ask for wol from shutdown, i red a bunch of guides that affirm you can wol from shutdown but i'm only able to do it from hibernate and sleep. Is there somethign specific to do to enable wol from shutdown? Also, if someone know a better option to wol and shutdown/sleep remotely with a phone instead of unified remote i will be interested.

I have a rackmount Dell server downstairs which I need to automatically turn on at a certain time every day. The servers hardware doesn't seem to support a way for it to power itself on automatically but it does support WOL so I want to have another PC on my network, my print server, send a WOL packet when it turns itself on every morning. All the documentation I'm finding for how to use WOL isn't the most clear and I was wondering if someone could point me to a quality guide and maybe offer a few tips.

Hello, Here's my specs: AMD 5 3400G MSI TOMAHAWK B450 MAX 2 CORSAIR 2x8GB - 3200mhz 500GB Kingston m.2 SSD (boot drive) 1tb Seagate HDD So I have setup the port forwarding and stuff in router's config page, configured in Windows settings (Device Manager > Network Adapters > (Select your adapter) > Power Management) Is there something that I should configure in BIOS too?

Hey everyone, I have a Dell Optiplex 3020SFF with a Realtek PCIe GbE Family Ethernet Controller and under Device Manager, there's no 'Power Management; tab to enable Wake on Lan. There's also nothing under the 'Advanced' tab's properties. I have WOL enabled in the BIOS (which is up to date), all drivers and Windows are up to date, fast startup is disabled. I tried disabling the modern sleep feature through regedit, no luck. Any thoughts?

As the title said, i need to turn my PC on over the internet. I can do it in the same network, i have WOL enabled, magic package etc... The problem is doing it over the internet. What a found in the internet is that i can do it by: 1- Making my IP static/or making a DDNS; 2- MAC biding my PC in the router; 3- Open a port in the router The problem. My router is a Deco X20 from TP-Link. The configuration is vare scarce (i think) having more options on the Smartphone APP than on the browser and a think that there are no way to do it on the Deco X20. My question: Can i do it (turn my PC on over the internet) with my current hardware? If not, what is the cheapest/cost benefit way to do it? English is not my first language (clearly) so i apologize for any mistake.

Hello everyone, This is a work related question. We currently have many of our staff working from home due to the rona; does anyone know of a way to boot (not wake) a machine via something like magic packet? We use Dell systems to the BIOS option of Power by PCI is not an option (Unless Dell has this feature named as something else). Any help or aid in my direction of research is greatly appreciated! -BobQ

Fellow Techies, I hope all are doing well. I am trying to figure out why my pc is not waking up via lan. I am running a MSI Z97s Krait SLI. I am aware that it does not have a WOL nic but I purchased an intel nic that does. However, I can't seem to get it to work. I allowed PCI/PCI-E to power on the pc, and allowed magic packets. I am using team viewer. I am trying to wake my home pc from my macbook air. There are times I need something from my pc as well as other things I need to accomplish. I can't leave my pc running while I am away as that would cause our power bill to go up... a lot. I use no-ip for a public address. If you have any suggestions as to what I should use instead (team viewer included) please let me know. If you have gotten this to work on your Krait edition or other motherboard that doesn't natively use WOL your help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Fellow techies, I purchased an Intel NIC that supports WOL but I never seemed to be able to get it to work. The drivers (both new and second to newest) didn't agree with Windows 7 and caused BSOD f4 all the time. The NIC I purchased was the Intel Gigabit CT PCIE Network Adapter EXPI9301CTBLK. Has anyone had this issue before? What would be a good WOL NIC?

Hi all, Last week I tried setting up WoL (Wake over LAN) over my LAN to be able to turn my laptop on remotely and use a remote terminal from my main PC. The remote terminal works fine, as I have forwarded port 22 for SSH. However, I have enabled WoL in the BIOS and my laptop's NIC does support it, and I forwarded the default WoL port (9) over a broadcast IP (192.168.1.255). But, when I send a magic packet over the broadcast IP, my main PC receives the message for my laptop's MAC address, but my laptop does not turn on. My only logical conclusion is that since it is a laptop and not a desktop, it does not constantly supply power to the NIC to be able to see and receive the magic packet in order to turn on. Am I doing anything wrong? Thanks, jtpjr

Hi all, I have been having trouble setting up Wake on Lan via public address on TeamViewer, especially in terms of port forwarding. I know that Wake on Lan for my computer is working since I tried another piece of software on my phone to wake my computer while on the same network and it was fine. I am pretty sure that it is the port forwarding is at fault since using http://www.portchecktool.com/ shows that Port 9 is not open. I attached a screenshot of my router's gateway (Fios Gateway G1100). I am not sure how to fill this out, but what I did is the static IP of my PC, UDP Port 9 to 9, and forward to the same port as incoming port Did I do it right? There is not a lot of information about my router. I also made sure that I set a dynamic DNS just in case my public IP is dynamic. Thanks

Could it be that my issue with my nas powering on randomly is caused by my psu? I have a "new" board, and it is still powering on when it tell the system to shutdown. Both OMV and Xpenology is having the same problem so it can't be an OS. Thoughts? Also, it seems that when I turn off the power by pci/pcie (aka WOL) it doesn't turn on. WTF? Is this an asus issue? Thank you in advance.
-
I hope someone can help me. My homemade NAS is running OMV and it turns on automatically after I shut it down. The Power by PCIE setting is on (needed for the WOL to work) and I am trying to figure out what keeps sending the packets for it to turn back on. I have swapped motherboards and it does the same thing. Is there anyway I can monitor or see what is sending packets for my NAS to boot back on without warning? FYI, it turns on right after I shut it down, I can physically hold the power button and turn the machine off and it will automatically turn back on.

I'm unable to wake my PC using WOL, here are the details: 1) I'm trying to WOL a PC from another PC inside the same network. (Both Wired) 2) I have msi gaming 5 Z97 mobo and the Wake Up configurations is set to OS rather than BIOS 3) I set the killer Ethernet inside windows to wake up only using "magic packet" on both of "advanced" and "power management" tabs 4) I opened WOL Monitor and made sure that the packet reaches the PC 5) I got the interface's MAC address 6) I put the PC to sleep, made sure that the Ethernet led on the router is still up 7) I opened WOL Gui on the other PC and tried to wake it up , but nothing happens Please advise, what I'm missing ?!

I have a MSI z97s SLI Krait Edition. I need to have Wake-On-Lane ability but I can not find it in the BIOS. Everytime I try to turn my tower on via Teamviewer I can't get the tower to come on. What am I doing wrong? WOL is turned on with my Realtek PCIe GBE FAMILY Adapter. I am running Win 10. I need to be able to access my tower from my mac laptop when I am on the go via teamviewer. I appreciate any help you give me.

[I am not that much into network stuff so I am posting this ?] Hi! I recently had to change motherboard and as it fixed my problems, it added a minor one, my WoL is not working anymore... I changed from Aorus Gaming AX370 k5 to Asus B450-f Strix and while it worked good on Aorus mobo it doesn't work anymore on Asus one. I turned on apm settings in bios and made sure magic packets are enabled and it is not working. Before I could just casually turn off my computer, go to sleep and then when I wake up: turn on my pc with one button click on my phone. And if it is possible I would want to go a bit beyond that, as I sometimes need something from my pc while I am at school I would want it to work over the internet or something so I can turn on my pc anywhere I am. (I think it is needed) my router is Tp-link Archer C6 AC1200. Thanks in advance ?

I swear I've set up everything right. Using Windows 10 Home, a Linksys E7500 router and Teamviewer 15. On the router, I set the DHCP Reservation, and port forwarded port 9 to target PC's IP using UDP. On the target pc, I set the IP to the one I entered on the router, and the subnet mask to the router's subnet mask. I set the Default Gateway as well the DNS server to the routers IP address. The second DNS server I set to 8.8.8.8 since there isn't another DNS server. Finally on Teamviewer, I put the target PC's IP address in the address field, and set the port to 9. The target PC can still access the internet. I think the the target device address that I put down in teamviewer must be wrong, but I don't know how else to do it. I can go into the Teamviewer dashboard on my laptop and android phone, and press the wake up button, but it does nothing. What do I need to fix? Is anyone else having these problems? Might I change programs, if so what one?

I got new server rig earlier this year for my rendering purposes. I want to use wake on LAN feature now for some power saving purposes and comfort. Although I do not have heavy server networking knowledge. I just found that 10Gigabit Ports do not support WOL. Sadly, I got 4 of them. Here are my complete specifications. My Server Specifications: CPU: Dual Xeon Silver 4114 @ 2.2GHz MoBo: Intel S2600STB RAM: 32 GB GPU: 1050Ti Server Chassis: I am ready to plug another network card, But the question is will I be able to do WOL? How? I have attached Speccy File, You can load into your Speccy and can see all the configuration things you need to know. Thanks in Advance. Xeon_WakeOnLan_Issue.speccy

My motherboard allow pcie to wake the computer but not the Lan port. So I had a TP-Link nic but that seemed to stop working with the WOL (I am using TeamViewer). I bought an intel nic (the EXI9301CTBLK) and the green light blinks indicating it is seeing a connection. It will wake up from sleep mode just fine, however it will not wake from a full shutdown.(S5). What am I doing wrong? I am using NO-IP with a domain, I have the ports done correctly, it just refuses to work after it did for at least four months. Can anyone lend me a hand on this?

So I've been fiddling with this for a few days now. I wanna be able to wake up my computer to start Remote Desktop sessions. My networking card is an Intel AC-7260 (Desktop) card. My motherboard is MSI z370-A Pro. What I have done so far: -Allow PCIe devices to wake computer in BIOS -Disabled link state power management of PCIe devices in Windows -Allowed the adapter to wake the computer in device manager -Enabled WoWLAN and related settings in device manager Still, the computer will not wake up if I send it a magic packet. Whats the deal? Is this even possible? Please let me know if I'm missing details.

I'm going crazy I think. My pc is randomly waking up from standby. I have wake on lan on my phone, and use it regularly, but only when the pc is fully shut down, because I have enabled WOL in the bios but disabled it in windows (disabled the ethernet adapter to be able to wake up the pc) So basically, WOL doesn't work if my pc is on standby, I can hit the button but nothing happens. Good, I did this because of the random wakups during the day (from standby only). So, I still get random wakeups. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes after going to standby, sometimes 3/4 hours, sometimes 1 minute. It can be anything. So I googled, and found that I should do this: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/63136-see-wake-source-windows-10-a.html The results (it just woke up randomly at 24/06/2018 around 12:30): https://imgur.com/a/JeDDQDB (that newest wake was yesterday from my keyboard, and the random wake from 15 minutes ago isn't anywhere to be seen) So basically even windows doesn't know. I'm so annoyed. I just want to stop the random wakeups I hope somebody here can help! Thanks if you can!

Hello, I tried to get wake on LAN working. First of all, I'll tell my problem: I got it working when my pc was in 'sleep' and hibernate mode but when I turn my pc completely off it doesn't work anymore. Here are the things that I've done to set it up. (I have a asus prime z370-a )in my network connection properties:- "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"- "allow this device to wake up the computer"-"only allow a magic packet to wake up the pc" -" (under the advanced tab) wake on magic packet & wake on patern match" both to enabledIn power options:-"turn on fast startup" (unchecked so it's disabled)In bios:-"Enable Power On by PCIE" -"Disabled fast boot"Some say you need to enable a feature "wake on LAN -> enabled" or something like that but I guess that option for me is the power on by PCIE, and that it differs from manufacturer to manufacturer how it's displayed in the bios. I don't know if that has to do something with it but I'm not planning on using it outside my house because another tutorial said I needed to forward some things in my router. I'm just planning on using it inside my house itself with my phone being the "remote" to startup my pc.

I am curious. Is it possible with a wifi receiver connected to my ethernet port on my motherboard to send a WoL package?
-
Hi, So recently I've been trying to configure wake-on-LAN, but it hasn't been working. I went through all the steps, and I noticed that when the computer is shutdown, the Graphics Card power indicators turn off, as well as any USB power, meaning that any built in device such as the Ethernet do not receive power as well. (The computer still turns on normally.) The power supply was purchased quite recently, it is a EVGA 750 G3. So my question is that when my power supply stops giving out idle power, is it a problem with the power supply, a setting in the BIOS (I have a Gigabyte Z97MX-Gaming 5) or a problem with the motherboard? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
