I have a G-Sync compatible monitor. But i can enable G-Sync but I can't adjust G-Sync settings due to it only being compatible and not a proper G-Sync monitor. But which should I enable instead? G-Sync, V-Sync, both? I play games at 2K 120Hz with a 4090 and it shreds. But I wanna know which will give me the smoothest and tear free gameplay. Also I can't enable adaptive sync (V-Sync option) [not AMD's Freesync] due to my montior running of DP 1.4 and it's a janky montior setup for G-Sync anyway. It can only be enabled by DP 1.4. But which one should I enable and which one is actually better? They seem to be the same thing but I have no clue if that's actually the case.

In my mind, it is trying to predict how long rendering the next frame will take, then delays starting the task. I am rather curious as to how RTSS can reduce latency by so much, compared with alternatives like just VSync I would expect that for a scenario with 1% lows of 120FPS+, that enforcing a frame cap of 120FPS would actually have higher latency than Scanline Sync 120Hz. Can anyone with the technical knowledge on this chime in, or perhaps just anyone who is also curious?

Hello! I am having an issue where no matter the game or program, or whether or not my it is plugged in, my MacBook Air M1 runs at 60 FPS. Games in browsers supported by ARM (no Rosetta), games that don't support ARM (Rosetta). All of it runs at 60 FPS. How do I turn off this limit? Minecraft with Shaders or on lowest settings runs at 60 FPS (nice, but ONLY 60FPS), Krunker.io at lowest and Highest settings 60FPS. My issue is that I would like to measure my machines capabilities against other machines on more than just benchmarks. I also would like to connect higher refresh rate displays and take advantage of my hardware's power.

Hey guys, so I recently was able to upgrade to a RTX 3070 and am loving the performance gains over my 1050ti. I finally got around to tuning my Nvidia Control Panel settings today and am just wondering the best v-sync configuration for my setup. My two monitors are the weaker parts of my setup - both 1080p 60 with no Gsync. What's the optimal setup for lowest input lag, best performance and no screen tearing? In game vsync and "let application decide" in the control panel has always been my go-to for simplicity. Thanks and have a good day

Hi, I used nvidia custom resolution to set my monitor to 40Hz so that I can use Vsync at higher FPS than 30 for some games (I have GTX 1070 and like to run higher resolution than FHD). In most games I am able to get comfortably above 40FPS at near 4K resolution, but I always underclocked the monitor to 30hz. Now I tried to underclock it to 40hz, but when I turn vsync on, then the game runs at 30fps instead of 40FPS. I checked in the UFO refresh rate test and it says it is 39.999hz. Why doesnt the vsync work as expected (by me)? Thank you in advance for you help.

I have recently purchased MSI RTX 3060 gaming X GPU and installed it on my MSI Z390 gaming edge AC motherboard. However, I installed the GPU in the second PCie slot which is PCie 3.0 x8 since the x16 slot is very close to my tower CPU cooler and putting the GPU in the x16 slot would almost make the GPU hit the CPU cooler. Thus I had to install my RTX 3060 in a PCie 3.0 x8 slot because of the fact that the x16 slot was very near to my huge tower style air cooler. I have not yet noticed huge performance drop but if I use V-Sync (I have a 60 Hz monitor) the card is only being used around 60-70% (GPU usage stat from MSI afterburner) giving exactly 60 FPS constant. If I do not use V-Sync with my 60 Hz monitor, the card is being used at 99% giving 100+ FPS on most games but heats up significantly (80 degrees plus) and get random frame stuttering. I still have the following doubts: 1. Should I use V-Sync always since I have a 60 Hz monitor only and that will also keep my GPU less used and not heat up giving better longevity? Or should I keep V-Sync off and push my GPU to its max limits (I am concerned since I use GPU on PCie x8 lanes and it heats up a lot) 2. Why the 3060 is significantly overheating when put in x8 instead of x16? Is it because the card working harder to push the bandwidth constraints in x8 or is this normal for a RTX 3060? 3. Also is it okay to use the RTX 3060 card in PCie 3.0 x8 slot instead of 3.0 x16 slot (incase x16 slot isn't available)? Do PCie 3.0 x8 slot gets choked/saturated (because of limited bandwidth) by a 3060 leading to a bottleneck? Does a 3060 really need more than PCie 3.0 x8 (8 lanes) for only gaming? I tried Vsync, freesync, scanline sync, capping fps, reinstalling the game, reinstalling GPU driver ( using DDU), disabling windows game mode and full-screen optimisation. but nothing is helping, tear remains. my GPU is 1650 super and the monitor is LG22mk430h 75Hz. I tried the above-mentioned sync technology individually and with enabling multiple at the same time, but not helping. Scanline sync had better results in all of them but as GPU usage is always around 95ish and scanline sync needs low to medium GPU usage so it isn't consistent. with freesync and capped fps at 70, it shows micro tear, and it's the best result I get apart from scanline sync,. I played BF1 story mode and only enabling Vsync worked there. another thing, I played warzone 4 months earlier then it had no issue( then I used to play with vsync+freesync and it worked smoothly. I learned recently that vsync is bad for multiplayer) I took a break from gaming for the last 4 months, in this time I uninstalled warzone with battlenet and had to reinstall windows due to windows crash. Yes, switching to a GSync monitor would resolve this issue but in my country ( Bangladesh), where 230USD monitor is sold at 400USD, I can't switch for couple of years at least.

Currently in NVCP, I have fixed refresh rate set for global, and gsync set for specific games. I am trying to have gsync work in forza horizon 5 (borderless game) but not sure how to confirm it, since the green gsync icon cannot be enabled when gsync is off. I don't want to enable gsync everywhere. Is there a way to confirm if gsync is working? Thanks

If my monitor is 144hz, and X game runs at around 125 FPS Should I decreate the refresh rate to 120hz in order to enable V-Sync / G-Sync?

516 Nvidia Driver Update may have brought this problem. There are some games that show a horrible tearing while VSync is on, you look up, this horizontal desync lines go up the screen to, same downwards. It appears to be solved while maxing out Super Sampling, but this occurs to not be a quite good solution, my 60 stable FPS with 40% GPU changes to a Mostly stable 60FPS with a 100% Usage on House Flipper, Max Settings. Games like Resident Evil: Village or Cities: Skyline doesn't show this stutter issue. I've tried reinstalling drivers, restoring Windows and changing Nvidia Control Panel and GeForce Experience settings too and none of them seens to solve this. I've recently upgraded from a 1060 3gb to a 1080ti. Massive difference! But I don't have the funds to upgrade my CPU, so I am stuck with a 10100 for now. Do you think that I should start using vsync to eliminate CPU bottleneck? Does that even make sense? I play mostly singleplayer games and my monitor is 75Hz@1080p

Guide me please. I bought a brand new gaming pc the specs are : Rtx 3060 ti I5 11400 Gigabyte z590 gaming x Cooler master mb511 combo with 600w 80+ psu My problem is every game crashes to desktop without errors if i turn off vsync Now i have a 40' tv monitor and using hdmi 1.4 cable and aiming for 1080p 60hz high frame rates ( no latency from VSYNC ON ) it used to run just fine with vga on my older pc But now i can only play with VSYNC ON And everytime i try to turn it off it just crashes to desktop without errors Is it my psu ? Cuz the graphics card draws about 200+ when vsync off and i hear a very loud cpu fan noise

Hi everybody, I've got a question for y'all. Does anybody have any ideas as to why my GTX 1070 isn't being fully utilized in Fallout 4, despite the fact that the game is running well below its FPS cap of 60 (due to Vsync on my 60hz monitor)? My apologies for the rather long post, I wanted to make sure I included every piece of information that I thought could possibly be relevant. If I did miss anything that y'all need to know, just let me know and I'll come back and add it in. Notes: Game settings are basically maxed out, with a few exceptions for stuff I either don't like or don't find makes enough of a difference to warrant the potential performance hit. I am running 23 different mods on the game with ModOrganizer2 from Nexus Mods, but this problem also occurs with no mods enabled. This happens both at stock speeds and while overclocked with Afterburner (112% power limit, 85C temp limit, software defined fan curve, automatic "OC Scanner" curve overclock on the GPU core, and +200MHz on the memory). The data I have from last night's gaming session is with the OC applied, I can gather data from stock speed operation if that is necessary. I know that the card is not thermal throttling, as my software fan curve has it peaking at 65C in-game, and normally hovering right around 57C. The max temp it got to during a 3hr FO4 session last night was 61.2C with a hotspot of 72.2C, and that's with my OC applied. I also don't think my i7-3770 CPU is holding it back (although I could be wrong), as I don't ever see full utilization of any of the 8 threads while playing FO4, even while running Steam, Task Manager, HWINFO, Afterburner, Discord (on voice but not streaming or watching a stream, and nobody had their cameras on), and Firefox with a few tabs open all in the background or on other displays. I do have and use Winaero Tweaker (version 1.33.0.0), I have used it to: Disable Telemetry Disable Edge prelaunching and Edge tab preloading Disable the Windows Ink workspace Disable Cortana Tell Windows to keep the thumbnail cache on a restart or shutdown Disable Timeline Disable Power Throttling Make the taskbar clock show seconds Disable driver updates (since Windows decided to disrespect my group policy that forbade it from doing anything with drivers without direct permission!) Hi everyone, i have one problem. Apex Legends Season 1 and 2 worked fine, skipped Season 3, and i try to play Season 4. My problem is, when i turn off Vsync, my game starts showing some square artifacts and in couple of seconds my PC gets frozen and i need to restart it... I try different drivers, settings, even reinstalling my OS didn't fix this problem. And this is a problem with every single game i try to play... Ahoy there LTT community! Short version: How can I prevent my GPU from underclocking itself too far while keeping Vsync and FPS Limiters active for lagless 59-60 FPS without screen-tearing? Long version: I noticed this problem recently while playing Skyrim SE with enabled frame limiter (~60) in the Nvidia drivers. Inside interiors when there's not much to render my GTX 970 underclocks itself very far. Which wouldn't be so bad, but when more stuff appears on screen (light sources, enemies, etc.) then the GPU ramps up and causes stutters while doing so. But most annoying of all is that it sometimes it stays underclocked and delivers subpar 30-40 FPS in these interoir situations. Unacceptable. I monitored these clockspeeds with MSI Afterburner: Outside - 1190 Mhz (base) to 1392 Mhz (boost). Interior normal - ~ 950 Mhz Interior laggy - ~ 650 Mhz (<-- what the hell?) Now, how can I tell my GTX 970 not to slow down that much? I did pinpoint this occurence to the frame limit option in Nvidia Inspector, but I don't want to turn it off because the ingame Vsync option (iVSyncPresentInterval in the SkyrimPres.ini) causes too much input lag for my tase. Therefore I limit the framerate to 59 or 60 and force Vsync on both in Nvidia inspector so I have pretty much no input lag and also no screen-tearing on my 60Hz Monitor. I didn't notice any problems with power consumption or heat so I'm sure there's no throtteling going on. I belive my GPU just "relaxes too much". I'd like to set a limit for how far the card may slow down in this game. Is that possible? Hope you guys can help and have a nice weekend! Greetings from Berlin Ivory System specs: CPU: Intel i5 6500 RAM: 8GB DDR4 2133 (single stick) GPU: GTX 970 SSC from EVGA (not overclocked) SSD: 275GB for my Steam library PSP: be quiet! 500W Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B150M-D2V OS: Win10 64bit

Hi. When exactly is it advisable to turn VSYNC on? I play DOTA 2 with VSYNC off and I kinda notice turning it on while playing a single game and I felt better gaming performance.. or is it? Turned off: 70-90fps with 100+ max Turned on: 59-60fps with the lowest of 56 I have a Samsung SyncMaster monitor (not really a gaming monitor) with 1366 x 768 HD resolution (not FULL HD) and 60Hz refresh rate. The problem that I encountered now is that when I'm in the GAME MENU of Dota 2, I get a locked FPS count of 30 (HALF MY VSYNCed fps count) My Maximum fps count is set to 120. Enlighten me pls. Thanks.

Hi i have just bought a AOG AGON AG352QCX its a free sync monitor and i have a GTX 980ti the screen is capable of 200hz refresh rate. And my frame rate on csgo is consistently 299 according to the in game fps counter. obviously i cant use freesync but i was hoping someone could confirm that vsync will stop screen tearing and limit my frame rate to that of the monitors refresh rate in this case would be 200Hz most likely my current screen doesn't have freesync or gsync i don't think and i run csgo at 299fps and i don't even notice any screen tearing anyway so it might not be an issue but i like to be reassured cheers,

So i see and hear a lot of people talking about vsync/gsync etc monitor sayin it's the best and swear by how great and better their game play is, while other people just say it's a selling tool or gimmick is it worth the extra money? Does it actually make a big or noticeable difference?
-
Hey everyone, I'm quite new to the PC world and I have a querie, I was wondering if you require g-sync or freesync in order to use the vsync setting in games. I have just bought a 1060 and want to play games such as CSGO, but don't really want to pay 450 (Aus). Thanks. followup, would buying a 144hz monitor and using vsync exclusively be a waste? Previous poster tomoki said that vsync limits your fps to 60, is this true?

Hi guys, I've wondered for some time, when having a 1070 will it even be worth for me to use VSync on my games or should I run them without Vsync? i don't know how much it will change, other than some games stopped with stutter when i turned it off? Please help me get the right settings, also ASUS ROG Strix 1070, should i activate the fans at all times or just let it run at 55Degress and let it start there?
