I was initially going to build a pc myself, but the increasing prices of components has turned me to buying a prebuilt. I found two great midrange PCs that somehow weren't affected by the price hike. This first one is Lenovo Ideacentre G5 (AMD) - Lenovo IdeaCentre G5 Gaming Desktop Cost: ₹57,990 or $800 (excluding upgrades) Specs: - CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 - MOBO: AMD PRO 565 (never heard of it, is it any good?) - GPU: nVidia GTX 1650 Super - RAM: 8GB 3200MHz (going to add another 8GB) - Storage: 256GB NVME SSD + 1tb HDD (7200 rpm) (will add another SSD) - Keyboard and mouse included The second one is an ASUS ROG Strix GT15 - ASUS ROG Strix GT15 Cost: ₹72,890 or $1000 (excluding upgrades) Specs: - CPU: i5 10400F - MOBO: Intel B460 (i've read that the 10400F is no good against the 3600 without a Z390 - GPU: nVidia GTX 1660 Super - RAM: 8GB 2666MHz (going to add another 8GB) - Storage: 512GB NVME SSD + 1TB HDD (7200 rpm) - Keyboard and mouse included I will be using this pc mostly for Video Editing (with davinci resolve so gpu is important), graphic design and 3D rendering with blender and SFM. I might use it for a few games but nothing too demanding (Valorant, CSGO, etc...) at medium settings. It would also be very helpful if you can find another good prebuilt at this price range $800 - $1000

Hello everyone, I’m in search of a new computer that would I’ll be able to firstly do video editing and secondly I’ll be able to game on. I know the prices or GPUs has skyrocketed lately so building a custom rig is rather expensive but this is needed. My budget is roughly $2500 USD. Any and all suggestions would be highly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hey everyone, I'm a coach at my local high school and was trying to find an easy to use free video editing app to be able to throw some highlights together for my game recordings. Does anyone have any indications of free and easy to use video editing software? I've tried to download lightworks but couldn't find the free version. Thanks for the help!

1. Budget & Location Located in US (NYC). It's for work so budget is not a big issue but I don't want something more expensive that what I truly need. 2. Aim The most demanding thing I'm going to use it for is video editing at 1080p (Adobe Premiere) - usually a very long video of 4+ hours (mp4, mov, mkv) . (Maybe some occasional CS:GO ) 3. Monitors I already have a monitor, it's not something special, just a regular inexpensive 27in display. 4. Peripherals I don't need a keyboard & mice If there's the option for the same component without RGP I'll take it. (It's for work at a business office) 5. Why are you upgrading? Rendering time is too slow right now What I have: AMD Ryzen 7 2700, 16GB, Radeon RX 580

Members. I'm facing a few issues while trying to edit 4K gameplay footage from my PS5. PS5 has two options to capture gameplay: 1) 1080P (.mp4) 2) 4K (.webm) First, the captured 4K footage extension is .webm, and neither Premier Pro nor DaVinci Resolve natively support the mentioned extension. Even after using a third party plugin called WebM at https://www.fnordware.com/WebM/ for Premier Pro to support the .webm file, the preview is laggy, and the colour Contrast and Brightness are messed up (Footage looks whitish). Is there a way to edit captured gameplay in Premier Pro without losing video quality? I have read about using FFMPEG to convert .webm to .mp4 without losing quality (or minimal quality loss). I didn't try converting as I was confused with the parameters. I'm a beginner, and I don't know how to get going with editing in this case. All your guidance and support is highly appreciated. Thank you.

Country: Spain (€) Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: After Effects & Cinema 4D Hey! I want to start saving up for a Video Editing PC. I'm going to want to be able to use After Effects on the heavy side and render big workloads. What components will I have to prioritize? And, roughly, what budget will I be looking at? Thanks in advance!
-
Hi all, Trying to decide whether I should get the 3700x or 5600x with my priority use being video editing (I will be using it for gaming and streaming too but editing is Priority 1 as it's how I earn my living). A lot of sites and videos only talk about the render/encoding time differences and seemingly no one mentions what the differences are when actually using the programs with the different CPUs. The render time differences appear minimal and won't make as much difference to me compared to what it's like using PremPro or AE, like scrubbing through footage with heavy effects applied, or booting up and using After Effects with Premiere Pro running in the background (like if I replaced a clip in my PremPro timeline with an After Effects composition, something I do a lot to do things like make keyframe animations much better). If it helps, my other components for the PC are as follows: GPU - EVGA RTX 2060 XC CASE - NZXT H510 RAM - 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX Black DDR4 - 3600 MHz - 2x16GB PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G5 SSD - Samsung 980 PRO 500GB PCIe 4.0 M.2 HDD - Seagate BarraCuda 4 TB Motherboard - ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) I appreciate any help with this. Cheers!

help Which of the two would perform better??
Slelsul posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
I have two laptops here that I am considering for purchasing. If I may ask for some to go through the trouble I would like to ask which is better for my needs and why it is better. I guess I am asking for a comparison of the two from those more experienced than I am. I am not all that experienced so I have little confidence and want to be sure I am making the absolute best choice. I am planing to use it (Abusively) For gaming streaming and video/music editing. I am not really looking for 250fps or all shine but just to have what will do the (abusive) work I need it to do for a (abusively) long time. The specs from the site for the two laptops are as follows. THE FIRST: Display: 17.3” WVA 120Hz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX1650 4GB Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 4800H RAM memory: 16GB DDR4 2666Mhz 16GB DDR4 2666Mhz SATA: M.2: None 500GB M.2 SSD Operating system: WINDOWS 10 HOME + USB + INSTALLATION WLAN: Intel Dual Band Wi-Fi 6 AX200/AX201 2x2 AX + BT CNVi Modem: None Thermal : STANDARD Price: 1103 USD THE SECOND: Display: 15.6” WVA 60Hz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX1660Ti 6GB Processor: Intel Core i7-10750H RAM memory: 16GB DDR4 2666Mhz 16GB DDR4 2666Mhz SATA: None M.2: None 500GB M.2 SSD Operating system: WINDOWS 10 HOME + USB + INSTALLATION WLAN: Intel Wireless-AC 9462, 1x1 AC + BT M.2 2230 Modem: None Thermal : STANDARD Price: 1202 USD Also I would watch a LTT video or even another video but out of the hundreds of videos and how every keeps changing I wont be able to trust them and there are so many that I wont know if I am getting everything or just a piece of the picture. Also I just figure why not have fun with the colors just because. And I made the font large for those on mobile or those that my have trouble seeing the smaller font.- 12 replies

Budget (including currency): 100000k INR(1350USD) Country: INDIA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, Video Editing, Content Creation, Streaming. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Currently on an HP laptop(i5 6th gen). Buying on March 2021. Targeting 1080p 144hz. Here is the thing I am torn between these two CPUs. Both of them costs almost the same as the 5600x being a bit more expensive(<50 USD). Now march 2021 I will build my second desktop currently on a HP laptop from 2016 (i5 6th gen) and earlier on the i3 3rd gen desktop. I plan on playing 1080p 144hz gaming with getting my hand on video editing and content creation possibly streaming also. The thing is since this is my second build with a first-ever discrete GPU( yes never had or owned any discrete GPU) it's really tempting me to go for the latest generation while on the other hand many people are saying that the 2 extra cores in the 3700x will come in handy a lot. Since I am on a 1080p panel I plan on going with the RX 6700 series if any comes out or the 3060ti 8/possibly 12 gigs (whichever is under my budget possibly the latter). Now I saw the benchmarks, the 5600x performs better nearly 20% or more in games than the 3700x. I plan on using this machine for the next 4 to 5 years what,s the best solution for me? there is equal weightage on video editing and gaming. And I avoided the 5800x & 5900x as both are a bit too expensive for me.

Budget (including currency): €1,500 Country: Ireland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hey everyone, I'm looking for some advice for my 1st build. My budget is €1,500, I'm a college student studying media, and the course involves audio and video editing. So the PC would have to handle some editing as well as gaming of course. I'd also appreciation for some help to decide between CPU:AMD or Intel and GPU:Nvidia or AMD. My original plan was to try build a PC with the new gen cards etc... but as they are next to impossible to get, my new plan is to build a PC that is compatible with new gen, so that I can buy them later in the year when stock is more available.

Hi Everyone, TLDR: I am in the process of saving up for a gaming/video editing rig. And I am looking for monitors that can favor video editing but can also game. Long Version Some background information: I have a BS in Social Studies Education and a Masters in Special Education, Instruction Design and Technology (basically how to use tech for teaching but not so much on what tech is good to start with. ) I work as a high school teacher, Benedictine Monk (yes like front the Middle Ages), and a Catholic priest. Because I want to create better content for my students and anyone else who is interested in the information I teach by posting video lessons on Youtube for free; I want to create a rig that can help me with video editing. Through my school, I have a lot of good software but not the hardware. Right now my only computer is a Dell Latitude 7390 running an I5-8350u. Over the summer I invested some of the little money I had saved up from my Ad Ussum (Latin for “For my Use” basically my allowance from the Abbey) to get a Sony A6000, Elgato Cam Link, a green screen, lights, and everything else that makes my production ability far better than the hardware I have currently allows me to handle. In addition to making video lessons on Monastic History and other history topics, I want to game and stream a bit because I do think that people would benefit from seeing a “normal” person as a priest. Let’s face it the Catholic Church and its clergy have a VERY ugly PR problem that we rightly deserve but one that I would like to help fix. And come on, who wouldn’t like to watch a priest play Fortnight, Rust, or COD, or something. I think based on my lack of knowledge I will go with Redux for the build and I am planning on spending a good bit of my money, most of what I have saved, to make it hopefully a decent computer for gaming and video editing, two things I know that require different takes on hardware, but hopefully one that can last for a few years and give me a return on the investment. So I want to get a rig that will let me do both, again knowing that I will need to compromise. That brings me to my question here. Right now my monitor is only a 1080p 75-hertz display and is basically unusable for any of my plans. Can you recommend a good monitor that can do both, again knowing that a compromise in performance is needed. I would like to favor the video editing side over the gaming side BUT I would like to still be able to game at a decent rate because I do think that once things are back in stock at MSRP I will go with an AMD RX 6800xt and Ryzen 7 5800x. I know that will cost me basically most of my savings. But I do have some Christmas gift money that I can still use to get a new monitor, even if I have to save up a little more. Any suggestions at various price points would be much appreciated. Specifically, if there is an OK one in the $4-500 range. But if I have to save and go into the $8-900 range or higher I understand that might be required. Again I am a total novice when it comes to hardware so any help and advice is appreciated. Thanks a Ton!!! Fr. Demetrius OSB PS LMG or their sponsors wants a tax writeoff I can prove my story with the needed paperwork for that. But honestly not looking for anything free just looking for much-needed advice because with an Ad Ussum of only 2500 USD/year I can not afford to repeat this anytime in the near future. Link to one of my class so you can see how little I currently am able to video edit: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzxNhrwrYKAqNhSvp4Gqp-iYjYEw3Uz4y

Budget (including currency): 3000USD or 1000000HUF Country: Hungary Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: DaVinci Resolve Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I need a lot of storage, but most of it to archive stuff. I use DaVinci Resolve, mostly edit 1080p right now, but would like to do 4k or even higher res. I play some games, but they are not so demanding (LoL, cs:go, apex, rocket league, battlefront 2, rainbow 6), I want to play cyberpunk tho. I was thinking of going AMD - Nvidia, maybe an rtx 3080 and a ryzen 9? + I only have place on the left side on my desk, so a mirrored case with a window would be good, so I can easily swap storage. (this is my first time on the forum, I have no idea what I'm doing send help)

Hey Crew - I'm helping the old lady purchase a Laptop - I'm a PC guy, so I just don't have legs for researching laptops. Can you guys assist real quick? We're hoping to get this for a max of ~2000 USD Basic Requirements are... 1. Performant in daily tasks (General usage - Apps opening/closing, OS UI responsiveness, etc). OS will be Ubuntu. 2. Durable enough for some travel (Hotels, Airplanes) -> It'll be plugged into a desk setup and used like a PC the rest of the time.... at my insistence 3. Suitable for lo-professional / hi-hobbyist 4K video editing. But our "Special" requirements which we're willing to stretch cost on are the following... 4.Good Screen Color & Quality (This is the part I really need help with; I don't yet - but want to - understand - all that "This monitor scored an 95% in the Adobe ABCXYZ Color Space" stuff Linus talks about. What score is a 'good' score? Does the manufacturer list that? Is it accurate? Can we measure it to be sure? Has someone already done that? Is there a database of these values to cross-check the manufacturer's claims?) 5. High-ish design quality (Non-floppy screen pivot, Thin / Thinish bezels, No / Little torsional body flex, Generally non-flimsy feeling of body elements - should pass the 'tap it and it sounds solid' test. That last one's only a requirement, for her, to break the stigma of a long history of bad experiences with poor-build-quality laptops. If y'all give me this knowledge, I will master it, and pass it on to others Cheers.

My i7 quad core Toshiba Satellite laptop from 2013 is starting to have issues with random shut offs and easily overheats even after being cleaned and kept on a chill pad so I'm in the market to try to get a new PC. My PS4 also biting the dust not long ago so I'm trying to find something that can tend to both gaming and content creation like running Photoshop with huge document sizes, video editing, and some 3D rendering. I have a a little lead way with my budget but trying to stay under $3000 if possible but same time would like at least a system that's going to last me a while. I play mostly single player games so I'm not really demanding extreme frame rates but I would like to be able to play games coming out now and later dates at decent graphics. I've been looking at things from Origin, Alienware, NZXT, Corsair, CyberPower, IBuyPower, Digital Storm, and even an iMac with a an eGPU since I'm already using an iPhone and iPad Pro. I've heard a lot of mixed things about certain companies so was wondering if someone could offer up their suggestions on what's a good reliable brand machine to go with.

Hi LLT Forum Members! I'm new here and could use your help! Background and Budget (I almost wrote bidet. Being in your apartment for 10 days kills me. I blame the Corona and Working From Home) So, I am as the title says, building my first PC and coming back to PC in over 24 years. I'm probably as old as Linus (Hi Linus!) (My teammates on my video team, we always go on how Linus knows his facts. Thanks for the fantastic content as always.) I have what I would guess a modest budget for video editing mainly, 1500ish USD (I can budge a bit north of that if it makes sense.) Aim of the Build To clarify, I am a video editor and producer/shooter of content by trade. 1. Mainly, I'd like to use this machine to do editing in Premiere. Some AE work when necessary. And any audio applications like: Audition, and iZotope RX which I use to help polish audio in post. 2. I'd like for this machine to be a modest gaming computer second for things like TeknoP*rrot, racing sims, a little bit of COD Modern Warfare here and there, and RTS. Monitors Currently, I run 1 x LG 32UD59-B 32" 16:9 4K UHD FreeSync LCD Monitor and I'd like to run another screen later on. This monitor I'm running maxes out at UHD 4K at 60 hz. Peripherals As stated above, I would like to add a second monitor later. I have bought a windows Key so I'm good on that. I have a sufficient Keyboard and Mouse for what I'm mainly doing. Why am I Upgrading You Ask? - Glad you asked. I've been working for years now on an older Macbook Pro and the new Mac Pro is too expensive. - I'd like to be able to deal with 10-bit 4K and above footage in real-time if possible in Premiere. 5K, or some forms of light raw from certain Canon cinema cameras. BMCC, Red/Arri is another story. - I'd Like to do my color work in Davinci w/o crying over slow computers. - Most of all, I'd like to be able to have the horsepower to make H264 or HVEC exports quickly. What I have Spec'd Out So Far: Currently I've made my list here: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor $298.99 @ B&H CPU Cooler Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler $89.99 @ Newegg Motherboard Asus Prime X470-Pro ATX AM4 Motherboard $138.99 @ Newegg Memory Crucial Ballistix 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory $159.99 @ B&H Video Card EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB XC GAMING Video Card $503.98 @ Newegg Case NZXT H510 Elite ATX Mid Tower Case $149.99 @ B&H Power Supply EVGA SuperNOVA GA 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply $87.98 @ Newegg Wireless Network Adapter Asus PCE-AC55BT B1 PCIe x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter $34.99 @ B&H Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $1504.90 Mail-in rebates -$40.00 Total $1464.90 Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-03-27 19:43 EDT-0400 Concerns with my build -My biggest confusions are the motherboard. There are so many choices. Did I pick a good choice? If not, what do you suggest? -I hear I can overclock ram. Which ram should I get? I'd like at least 32GB -Is my power supply Adequate in the sense of brand and model? I'd like it to be modular. Is there a better option that's not as expensive? -Can I do better on the graphics here? -Suggestions on fast, RAID 0 editing disks? -I'd love to use the Noctua unless you suggest something better. -Is my case choice going to yield a quality unit that I can hold more than 2 HDDs, and have great airflow? - Most of all, the system needs to be reliable. Thanks everyone! I'm looking forward to your suggestions.

All, I’ve recently built this computer for video editing Sony A7Siii footage and it’s really slow in premiere pro. Ryzen 3900X Nvidia 1660 super 2 x 16GB 3200Mhz Crucial Ballistix TUF gaming X570 Plus WiFi 1TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme Others seem to be editing A7Siii footage with less powerful CPUs very smoothly. For me whoever the timeline is very stuttery, I can’t scrub through thefootage quickly but it does export really quickly. MyPremiere pro setting are not the issue either aseverything is set to take full advantage of the hardware available. Do you think it’s the build or is it just thefootage, even though other says they can handle it fine with seemingly lesser systems. Graphics card onlyseems to be under any load when exports not while in the timeline. Thoughts please?!?!

Can I use my laptop for streaming and video recording/editing, or will I need to build a more competent desktop? I purchased a Microsoft Surface Laptop (1) about two years ago as a light and portable general use laptop for college work, and it served me well for that purpose. However, my future plans recently changed such that my computing needs have shifted. I'm currently trying to build a computer setup for live-streaming and content creation for sites like Twitch and YouTube. I'm planning on using either OBS studio or Elgato Game Capture HD to set up and stream content to Twitch and later edit footage down for YouTube audiences. I was hoping to use my laptop for this, but in basic testing its CPU was pinned at 96-99% while only working on basic rendering of captured content (at 720p). My laptop just wasn't designed to deal with sustained CPU intensive loads. It has an Intel Core i5 7200U with 2 cores and a supposed 2.71GHz base speed. It has terrible cooling though, so it seems to clock itself down to the 1.4-1.9GHz range to compensate. I need a computer that can perform the following tasks: Rendering content from multiple inputs (HDMI capture, webcam, microphone, overlays) for live-streaming at 1080p. Editing video and audio at a basic to moderate level I'm currently using these peripherals: An old 1080p VGA monitor (hooked up via a mini-DP to VGA adapter) as a secondary monitor A USB 3 powered hub Audio equipment hooked up via my laptop's audio jack Is there any way I can make my laptop work, or will I need a new PC? I'd like to use my laptop if I can, so suggestions for how I could better cool my laptop would also be appreciated; it has an aluminum chassis, but few ventilation holes. I think I could make my Surface work for the time being if I could get it to stop overheating. If I do need a new PC, I'll write up a more detailed "ideal" specs list and go from there. Any help or advice will be appreciated!

I am experiencing some issues with Resolve 16 and was wondering if anyone else had encountered them and/or had any solutions. Issue 1 In the timeline, a piece of footage plays fine. It looks and sounds normal. However, once the video is exported, the audio of that clip is oddly distorted, and grey patches appear in the video. Issue 2 If I play a piece of footage outside Resolve it sounds fine. However, after importing it into the timeline, it sounds completely distorted. I tried separating the audio using a different program and using that audio instead, which seemed to solve it. However, once I exported it, issue 1 occurred again. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
