appraisal Selling my pc to build an itx one.
IHaveADisplayName posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
I built this PC less than two months ago. brand new parts cost $1900 USD, as shown in PCPartPicker. I’ve cleaned the PC free of dust about every month. Parts are in like-new condition. This PC can handle most games on the max setting with a 1440p ultrawide monitor at much more than 60 fps. Here is a link to the PCPartPicker website where you can see all the parts and prices: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/P3Q9N6 I am bored and want to build an ITX, so I want to sell my current PC to fund my next one, so I want to know how much I could sell it for. I personally think around 18–1700, but I am not entirely sure. I know the CPU and the ram timing inst great but it sure can game and is a powerhouse, If yall need more info about the PC feel free to ask.- 7 replies

Hello, I need help figuring out if I am about to waste my money or make a good deal instead. I currently use an old MacBook Pro 2019 (I got it for free) for my professional needs. However, recently a friend of mine decided to sell his current PC because he is moving to a new country and asked if I wanted to buy it. He is currently asking for 1600 GPB but said he would also settle for less as he's not trying to make money out of it. I am not an expert on PC parts, so I would like to get some more informed opinions on the matter. Country: United Kingdom Games, programs, or workloads that it will be used for: Software development with CPU-focused loads 3D Rendering (ray-tracing) Light machine learning Casual gaming (e.g., Satisfactory) Other details: Here is the list of parts he sent me: Motherboard: Asus Rog Maximus XI Code CPU: Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz 8/8 RAM: 32 GB G.Skill 8GB × 4 GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (8 GB) CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i Pro Power supply: Corsair TX850M HDD: WDC WD20EZRZ-00Z5HBO SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 1TB Monitor: Acer KG271 B 27.2 Inch Keyboard: Ducky One 2 Mini RGB Mouse: Logitech 9402 Attached are also two images of the peripherals and the PC running. I tried replicating the configuration on pcpartpicker.com, and my understanding is that he is asking for a bit less than the current prices for the individual parts. However, the components are not necessarily the newest, for example, by looking at the official INTEL page for the CPU, I can see that it was released in Q4'18. Thus, I would like to know if the computer will still be usable for a few years or if it is in need of urgent upgrades. Lastly, I intend to add an additional high-resolution 1440p monitor in the future, but given my use cases, I don't need particularly high refresh rates. Thank you very much in advance for any help with this situation!!

I recently got my hands on a Dell Precision T1700 Server, with a Intel Xeon E3-1245 v3 CPU and 24 GB of RAM (8*2 + 4*2). I was looking to make this into a functional computer, that would be second to my main laptop that I use. Since it’s a desktop, I hoped to get more mileage out of Eng Applications like ORCad and Revit/Inventor, as well as game (I usually play simpler games and indie games like MineCraft, but occasionally play Civilization VI and Cities Skylines-type games that are based on simulations - running games like GTA would be a plus too). 1. What recommendations would you make to upgrade the tower? My thoughts are looking into (in order): GPU, RAM, PSU (the power supply is 290 W, though I assume a lot of this computer’s power connectors may be proprietary, because Dell? 2. Are windows keys stored in the server? If so, does it activate upon installing windows on the machine? 3. Are those sticks of memory a good idea ie. Should I run it at 16 GB? 4. Anything else I should know? (The reason this server is no longer in use is because ‘no bootable device found’, which I assume is as easy as installing an SSD I haveand reinstalling windows?)

Hi all, I am a graphic design/game design double major attending school in Des Moines Iowa. As part of the graphic design major, I have been tasked with designing a new app, one that I believe can help solve a niche issue. From what I know, there are very few (if any) apps on the marketplace (ios & android) that prioritize used pc parts specifically. I liue of this, I am wanting to design an app specifically for this niche group of products and would love to hear for the community as to what features you all would want in an app such as the one I am proposing. Thank you to any and all responses that I recieve! (side note: first time user of the forums here and not entirely sure how to operate all the features)

First Priority: Got an offer from a friend and want to check with you guys if it's a good idea: - Intel Core i7 5930k - Asus X99 Deluxe (Sockel 2011-3, 8 DDR4 RAM-Slots - 4x 8GB DDR4 2400 MHz CL15 (G.Skill Ripjaws Black) - CPU Cooler Prolimatech Genesis with 2x 140mm beQuiet! Silent Wings. - Price 300-350€ Second Priority: If i decide to buy it, figure out what PSU and Case to buy with it. I will keep my Storage, 1050ti (upgrade when gpu Prices have normalized) 1. Budget & Location Germany, € (My English is good, but not perfect) No real budget, don’t want to spend more than i have to, In true German fashion. Also seems like a good Idea with the PC hardware Market being completely Bonkers right now. 2. Aim I dualboot Pop!_OS (Ubuntu) and Windows Linux is my Work OS. Having to reboot before starting a Game really helps me focus and i use a custom keyboard layout called Neo2 (neo-layout.org) Which is a constant pain in Windows. Especially UWP Apps. Windows is for Gaming. Games I’ve played lately: Cyberpunk 2077,Total War: Warhammer (2), Doom, Rise of the Tomb Raider, XCOM 2, Total War Shogun. I want to run a Nextcloud from a Docker container to sync my files... I will also run Windows in a VM sometimes to use MS Office when someone sends me a (.docx/.xlsx/.pptx) or other windows exclusive stuff. In the Future i might want to experiment with GPU Passthrough after upgrading my Graphics card but that would be just for fun. 3. Monitors 32inch 2560x1440 165hz 24inch 1920x1080 4. Peripherals No, I have everything. 5. Why are you upgrading? My Asus Office PC is just not cutting it anymore. i5-4460, 8gb ddr3 Ram. I got it for free about 1.5 Years ago and made it into my first Gaming capable computer by buying a used 1050ti for 70€ Productivity-Reasons to Upgrade: I need more CPU cores and more RAM to build my nextcloud server, play around with virtualization, make the pc more responsive in general (I’m a crazy multi tasker) Gaming-Reasons to Upgrade: The CPU is not always, but often the bottleneck. Especially when playing 1080p minimum Settings. I also have so close everything else, sometimes reboot to free up CPU and RAM usage. I hope this is not way to Rambling/Detailed. Thanks in advance. PS/ Different Tangent. Is an ebay 6900x or Xeon e5-26.... A realistic upgrade path mabe one year down the line?

Hello all, I have an Optiplex 990 with an i5 2400, a D6H9T mobo, and a 1TB hdd. Does anyone know if I can mount this mobo in a Thermaltake Core v21, and then put a Corsair CX550M in it? Does this motherboard also support a 2.5" ssd and a 1060 6gb? If you know the answer to any of these questions, please respond. If these components are not compatible, please recommend some that are. Thanks!

So I was surfing my local Craigslist when something odd Cought my eye. What appeared to be an old Dell pre biult mounted inside a wall canbinet..... you just can’t make this stuff up. I’m almost tempted to buy it despite the tirrible specs (core 2 duo and no gpu). I have no use for the monitor so not sure if I would take that. It is the altimate troll system; it has an Apple power cable for an IMac coming out of the psu for goodness sake. Anyways thought you guys would get a kick out of this “epic” custom case. Sorry, no RGB.

I've got a old motherboard with a i7 2600 and 24gb of ram laying around. I decided to buy a cheap ssd and hard drive to go with it and put it in my old case. Also picked up a evga gtx 1050ti ssc for $90. I'm thinking about selling it and was wondering what a fair price to ask for it is? I'm assuming it should not have trouble playing modern games on medium / high at 1080p. Any ideas?

So I was looking a used PC's for sale and came across this PC that is very very close to my location. The seller is asking for $1,800 and was initially at $2000 (so maybe they'll go lower?). Checking the parts with pc part picker for my country, the build came to around 2,650. Besides the CPU and GPU the closeness of this PC listing is what interests me the most. CPU: Ryzen 7 1800x CPU cooler: coolermaster AIO water cooler Motherboard: Asus Strix ATX Ram: Corsair 16gb 3000mhz GPU: gigabyte 2070 oc Case: NZXT H500i SSD: 128g NVMe HHD: 1TB Powersupply: ThermalTake modular Gold rated 650w What do you think? Is this a good price?

Budget (including currency): < $200 Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: browsing, emails, etc. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): * Dell Optiplex 790 (Core i5-2400) --------------------------- So I'm planning on sending a bunch of old PCs to recycle center because I need to make space in the storage room and server room. Some of those include old Dell Optiplex 790 desktop towers and small form factors. A lot of them have busted PSUs, so I'm mainly reusing the motherboard from one of the towers, RAM and i5-2400 CPU, and transplanting it onto a spare mid-tower case I have at home. Will I have any issue with the motherboard's compatibility with an ATX case, or just stuff I need to keep in mind in general?

Today i found this guy selling his PC on an Online selling app. So the deal is to get all of the following for : $360 - i5 7400 - Gigabyte Mobo (IDK what model) - 16 GB of RAM (IDK speed) - PC case (worth around $30) - Power Supply (IDK which and of what wattage) but so called "heavy usage" PSU - 22" LED 1080p FHD display (either hp or acer) - 1 TB HDD - wireless mouse and keyboard well.... thats all now here's the thing he said he has only used this PC for a few months and wants to sell it out as the purpose for which he bought this, "some business of his that was related to photography" failed!. So he wants to sell it out ASAP. Now the problem lies here, he said he has no bill from the shop he bought the components as it saved him some money. despite he has the box of motherboard and CPU. so the question is "will i be able to avail the warranty of the products without any kind of bill? when still having the box". I'm open to every suggestion, just write it to me guys. Is it too good of a deal to be true or it looks authentic? and what about the warranty. All in all is it worth the purchase? btw im gonna add a 1050 ti or 1060 to this PC to use it as a Gaming PC. and i'm gonna go to check this PC tomorrow, to get the full info about it. Tell me your thoughts guys. Thanks to anyone and everyone who replies in advance

Hi everybody, I am a designer, animator, video editor who has been using Macs for 25+ years. I recently have been trying to reduce cost and subscriptions which brings me to Linux and open source software like Blender. I wanted to get a system to try things out to see if I can make the switch to Linux. So I figured I could buy a used gaming PC on eBay & wipe Windows with Ubuntu or something, then run Blender, Gimp etc. However never really buying PCs except for a couple times over the years I have no idea what’s good, what will work, what I need. I have no idea on processors & video cards, there are so many & hard to figure out whats best for the money & considering I am looking at used systems. Can I please get recommendations on something used in the $300-$400 range to start? If I like the Linux universe I will get something more state-of-the-art, but for now I’m looking for a “toe in the pool”. I found these so far EBAY - Dell Studio XPS 8100 Gaming Desktop PC Intel i7 Quad 8 GB 1 TB Nvidia GT240 - $300 EBAY - Dell T7500 CAD PC 6-Core 2.80GHz X5660 12GB RAM 128GB SSD - $300 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883102249R&Tpk=N82E16883102249R $400 For Blender, these specs are considered optimal hardware Optimal (production-grade) hardware 64-bit eight core CPU 16 GB RAM Two full HD displays with 24 bit color Three button mouse and graphics tablet Dual OpenGL 3.2 compatible graphics cards with 4 GB RAM Any guidance would be appreciated. Should I get a new cheap build? Will I get more by buying used? What about drivers etc? Ugh... Thank you
