I've got a PC which has problems occurring regularly. This time around my GPU and RAM (I believe) are outputting Errors. I've updated my Drivers for ALL of my PC's Hardware and the majority of my PC's Software. I've even completely reset and wiped my PC to see if that would fix any issues and it still hasn't. I've moved the internal components to different slots to see if anything changes and it hasn't. I've been told to get new components but I've came across this problem a few months ago and it started to work and I had no knowledge on what I had done to fix the issue. I keep getting this "Code 43" Error and I've followed the steps on how to "Fix" my problems however it doesn't help me out. I've got 0 Viruses on my PC, I've got 1,700GB of Free Space, and my PC runs at really cool temperatures. I am able to use more Computer normally most of the time however I am occasionally unable to set my Screen Resolution to 1920x1080 (which is my default resolution) and when I try to change the resolution when using the Display Settings red text appears which states; "Windows could not change your display to this resolution. Try a different resolution". The textures in my Games (Overwatch, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Garry's Mod, and Battlefield 1) bug out suddenly whenever I play them whichresults in my computer crashing. I don't get a Blue Screen whenever my Computer crashes and it can even crash when my Games are running in the background. When my Computer crashes I receive either a Black Screen or a Grey Screen then my Computer automatically restarts. I've tried playing my games without any background processes such as Web Browsing and other online and offline applications. I've tried playing the games on extremely low settings and the crashes still occur. I've even downloaded "BlueScreenView" to help me deal with these issues and they still occur. Here are my Computer Specifications; Graphics Card - MSI GeForce GTX 970 (not overclocked) Processor - Intel Core i5-6600 Power Supply - Cooler Master 700W 80 Plus Certified Unit Motherboard - MSI Z170A PC MATE Memory - 2x4GB DDR4 HyperX Fury Storage - 1TB WD Black + 1TB Seagate Barracuda.

So I recently just built my PC and I'm wondering if I can place my AE86 and R34 Tomica cars directly on the PSU? As you can see my case doesn't have like a cage (or box?? I have no idea what that part is called) that hides the PSU. Is there any danger to it?

Note that my english is not my mother language so I might not be using the correct terms and I'm also not very good at handling problems like this one, so try to keep it simple if possible, please... So two days ago I clicked on the shutdown button on my laptop and the screen went to where it said waiting for background programs to close. Nothing unusual so I went away from my laptop for something like 10 minutes expecting it to shutdown automatically but when I came back the laptop was still on and the screen was showing the desktop with it filled with files with no names nor anything besides my normal shortcuts and stuff. Also an error message kept appearing saying something I could not understand, not because it was impossible to understand but because I didn't have the knowledge to fully understand it. I also couldn't open anything so without knowing what to do I forced a shutdown expecting to when I turned the pc on, everything would be alright. At first look, everything seemed to be back to when it was fine, but I've noticed that my framerate in a game i usually played was very inconstant, it has always been at 60 fps capped and never broke a sweat with it. Now I still have 60 fps but when something happens in the game, it drops to 5 fps and that means I'm almost always at low framerate. I don't actually know if this is related to the problem I had but it only seems like it was. Hoping to fix this problem I went to defragment my disk and I found 2 weird named hdd units that reminded me their names were in the error report I had when it all started. Their names are showed in the picture. Can someone help me with this and if possible explain why such thing happened?

Hello, all! I've been told by a good handful of forum members that the power supply unit in the PCPartsPicker list linked below is a horrid choice. It would be great if anyone could point me in the direction of a better, sturdier choice that fits the parts of my build. PCPartsPicker List: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/mackhack321/saved/b2nxFT Thanks a lot! Any other notes on the build would be appreciated as well.

My first custom gaming case is a server unit. Why.....? Because Linus's personal server rig inspired me. Update 2: Due to lack of finances i had it sit on my desk until i can afford a new motherboard and processor. I took a note from Linus's 150 bucks server gaming rig video, and i started looking around in Marktplaats. And i found this: Marktplaats Supermicro Xeon E5620 Dual And there are two of these in it: ARK Intel So i checked these Xeons compared to the i5 6600K a friend of mine just got and: CPUBOSS E5620 - 6600K I want to use this PC as a Server, i want to use Unraid to get multiple VM's working. One for gaming, one as NAS, one as Voice Recognition using Dragon Naturally Speaking. (i'm getting two individual mics to have in my new room that will be passed through to that VM.) And one for School and home management. I'm moving to a 14m2 room in two months so having a server instead of different devices for everything is a blessing. Lets hope i can get this board ey. How it stands now untill i can upgrade: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So it all started with me looking around 'Marktplaats', which is basically the Ebay of the Netherlands. It is. And i came across this 4U Server case, for 5 Euros. YES, 5 damn, euros. (It's wet because it was raining.) So i went over there. (which took me about 6 hours by train) I payed with a smile on my face and took it home. Having two friends over whom actually helped me alot. I took a look at my current PC and was like, why would i not put my rig in this?... Oh yeah... it's grey on the inside. Well we went to our dollar store and got some spray cans, marking tape and an airspray can. From here on out i'll post only pics^^ If you guys have any suggestions please do give them this is my first time colouring a case! Now here you can see we started out sanding every single piece of the case: I decided i wanted to make a matte black case with red accents as you can see here: UPDATE 1: oh sh*t. It all went really well, the parts look amazing, i found my old stock cooler.. Untill i used the wrong backplane and i think i bent my motherboard because it won't post. I really want to make an extensive update but its nearly 3AM here, my back hurts and i'm stumped.. I'll update you guys tomorrow after work around 7 my time Update 2: Well.. So i took the PC out, slapped my AIO water cooler on again, tried all my ram and different graphics cards. My Phenom 2 X4 965 is compatible with a pc i made for a friend so i'll test if my CPU still works.. If it does i'll buy a new motherboard, if it doesn't i'll have to save up for a new Intel CPU (because of Planetside2) But that will have to wait a few months.. Update 4? I lost count. So i got the board: Dual Socket-Intel Xeon E5620 clocked at 2.4GHZ AMD R9 270 2GB Stock speed. 24GB of DDR3 Kingston memory (6x4GB) 800WATT PSU 120GB SSD & 5TB of HDD Storage Pictures: (I know the fan on the front grill is not centered but as they say: "I'll fix that sometime" xD) I still have a few quirks with the board but i'll update you guys on that after i've handled them on their respective subsections of the LTT forums :3

Hello dear forum, I've got this old Dell PSU, I am currently trying to fish out of its prison. Do you guys think It'll work in a slightly more modern setup? (It was hooked up to a GTX280 and a mobo with DDR2) I'm planning to hook it up to a GTX580 I salvaged for a friend. - Marc

What is the point of overclocking you cpu?
liilMatt posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Why overclock your cpu? I understand that years ago there was a need to overclock to keep up with modern games. But in my case (no pun intended), I have an i5 2500k. at 3.3 ghz, with stock overclocking a bit higher. With speeds like that, I've heard that for nearly all games there is very little point to overclocking - is this true? If there are games out there that will higher clock speeds, what are they. Or are there just some applications that better utilize the processing power that I am just overlooking? There more thorough and technical the better! I only ask this because there do not seem to be many resources on the internet indicating why we do it, only that as gamers we do it. -
I recently ordered an external graphics solution from banggood.com (insert sexual innuendo here) and noticed the connector feeding data to the laptop from the external pcie slot is just an hdmi port. This got me thinking, "Would it be possible to use a regular hdmi cable to transfer data from the external pcie slot to the laptop?" Now, even with the understanding that usb 3.0 hasn't nearly enough bandwidth to shoulder pcie throughput, I would still want to know that if in theory, whether or not an hdmi cable plugged into an hdmi to usb 3.0 adapter would allow a graphics card in the external pcie slot to be recognized by the laptop. I also ask the same of an hdmi to thunderbolt implementation connected to a thunderbolt enabled device such as a macbook.

I want to get a modular PSU for my first build (I am OCD and would love to get a modular one for cable management), but I am confused. All definitions say that it has no cables attached, but they don't specify if the cables are included in the box or if you will have to buy the cables separately. So do the cables come in the box with the PSU or not?

Hey guys, straight to the point, I am looking for a new cooler for my i5 3570k. Basically I am now using the Hyper 212 Evo and my CPU is running at 4.2 Ghz, reaching 68C at 100% load (I guess I didn't win the silicon lottery ). Since I have another build coming up based on the Piledriver CPU (I haven't decided yet whether I am gonna use the 6300 or 8320), I am thinking of using my current 212 Evo as the CPU cooler for this next build. So now I am looking for a new cooler for my i5 3570k. I am thinking of getting an AIO water cooler like the Corsair H75 just for the look, it will make my rig look tidier, but I still haven't made my mind because I have never dealt with any type of water cooling solution for my CPU before. Some people said that I should think about the risk of leakage or pump failure. This kinda worries me a bit so I'd like to ask, has anyone here ever had such problems, specifically with Corsair AIO water coolers? If so, how long did it take until the problem occurred? What is the solution for that?

What is the worst Power supply brand? The Best brand? Feel free to share your experiences in the comments to warn others of the worst or best things you've touched inside you PC. I have had purely great results with Seasonic PSUs and my Intel Q6600 is still going strongly powered and pulling a 2.99Ghz OC and running Euro truck simulator at 26 fps on just above lowest with a gtx 660 and 8 GB ddr2 ram... Someday I shall upgrade to a Xeon E3-1230 v3
