Hello everyone! As weird as it sounds, as the title states, I am getting weird audio crackles from time to time and only in youtube. This started happening after applying negative voltage (more than -5 all core) on my cpu. Everything is completely stable otherwise. I have stress tested the stability with -30 allcore and also even applying 90-60-90 (PPT-TDC-EDC), even though I am running on higher (120-80-120). The problem is not present anywhere else. I am completely clueless why this might be happening and any help or at least explanation would stop be from hitting my head against the wall.

Hey Guys, Back here again after long. I've got a new laptop and been playing around with it for almost a year. So far i have Disassembled it, removed the crummy stock vrm pastes and applied Gelid thermal pads and Kryonaut for the CPU and GPU. The temps have been stable around 50- 55 C although they do shoot up to 100 as soon as I render something in blender or play a demanding game. Nature of the beast, I guess. I'm here again to ask you guys (and hopefully @unclewebb if he's inclined to help again :)) if my current settings are looking alright and I'm not doing something obviously stupid that's holding back performance. Right now I'm only playing around with the CPU Core and CPU cache settings and reducing it by a point each week (to test stability under different use cases as i go about my day). So far its stable at the current settings. Some of My questions I'd like answered are: Do I leave Thermal velocity boost checked on or off? I've seen people say it's good if you have a system with a proper cooler, others say it takes away performance as the computer reaches higher temp thresholds. So, i''m a bit confused about this. What about VRM stress and Ring Down? Is it safe to increase the turbo ratio limits while the cpu is undervolted? Do I need to change anything in TPL window that might help? I have a feeling I can play around with the speedshift min-max to get more juice out for my work? Thanks a ton in advance for your help and insights!

Hi, I have read that the 13700k can run quite hot and uses a lot of power. I am planning on buying the following parts for my new pc: https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/list/3fQm6r I am planning on using this rig for the upcoming 3-5 years and will mainly use it for gaming in 1080p to 1440p. I have no experiene in undervolting or overclocking whatsover. Is undervolting recommended for the i7-13700k and would I be better of with a i7-13700? Thanks in advance

i just built a new pc but it keeps crashing when i play games sometimes specs 7600x rx6750xt a620m gaming x corsair 6000mhz ddr5 ram stock cpu cooler i keep thinking its because my 7600x is getting to high temps because i am using a stock cooler. i try to undervolt it but every video i watch uses pbo but when i go into bios precision boost overclocking isnt an option for me. does anyone have other sulutions to the crashes or how do i find pbo.

Guys, I just built my PC, and it idles around 40C. However, during games, it goes up to 85C, which I don't like. I am considering undervolting it. I have a Ryzen 7 3700X and RTX 2070 Super. So, I need your suggestions: How much should I reduce the voltage? If someone else with the same processor and GPU has undervolted their system, please let me know the voltage value you have set.

undervolt cpu Undervolting an i7-13700KF
QuickNoobTubeYT posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I have tried to undervolt my CPU after getting trashy temps with an 360mm AIO but now I've found an option saying "Core input voltage" which sits at 1.8V at the moment. Should i drop that? -
I recently updated my laptops BIOS to the latest "urgent" version which happened to have multiple Intel Security Advisory firmware updates which blocked the ability to under-volt with throttle stop! I know this is a newer topic, but undervolting is the one thing that boosts my frames like no other. I was reading into SGX / Intel Security Engine. I couldn't find any clear answers on whether this was a possible feature that can bypass the microcode that stops me from undervolting. I know there is a feature within the BIOS to Disable, have System Applications run it, or just Enabled it. I am not sure if this feature could help with my current situation. I also looked to see if going back to a previous BIOS was possible but the manufacturer has blocked any rollbacks on BIOS prior to the CVE-2019-11157 Intel Update. I run on an Alienware m15 R2 with in i9-9880H processor. Update: This reddit post is one way that I have found that allows you to undervolt after Dell 1.6.0 BIOS updates. From my testing, you will most likely have to turn off Secure Boot within the BIOS to use this solution. My solutions. Not everyone has the skill sets to edit the BIOS, so I have found solutions through Windows that allows the computer to get undervolting like temperatures and performance. - The first step I took was Editing the Power Plan 1. Type Edit Power Plan into taskbar search 2. Click Advanced Settings 3. Scroll down to Intel (R) Dynamic Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Settings 4. There will be two options. Select the lower Wattage and Lower Ghz option. - The second step is making sure your fan settings are proper while gaming or idle. 1. The Alienware fan control application has many settings within

Hi all, This morning, I was trying some undervolting on my Ryzen 3600XT when my PC crashed. No big deal, I thought, this has happened to me multiple times after going a little bit too hard on the overclock. So I tried to reboot the system, which didnt work so I cleared cmos. I logged into Windows to make sure everything was still working, and it was. Then, I went back into BIOS to go back to my last stable settings, but after leaving BIOS my PC wouldn't ouput any screen and my mouse and keyboard didn't light up anymore. There is fan spin at this point, so I was like: 'Uhm, I'll just clear cmos once more?' Now everytime I exit BIOS, even without changing any settings after clearing cmos, the same problem occurs: fan spin, lights inside PC work, but no screen, keyboard or mouse. If I don't enter BIOS after clearing cmos the system works perfectly fine and I can do whatever, but every single time I exit BIOS, the system locks up. I have already tried the two solutions that these people at tomshardware gave: replacing battery and removing Ryzen Master, but it did not help. https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/pc-doesnt-restart-boot-after-exiting-bios.3565610/ Can anybody help? TLDR: System freezes every time I exit BIOS. Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX V2 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT GPU: MSI GT 710 2GB (I know, waiting for my 3060Ti to arrive)

Hi everyone, I am tweaking the CPU voltage with throttlestop. I managed to get rid of thermal throttling by undervolting the CPU and the result are evident: in cinebench r23 the multicore frequency stays near the max (which in my case is 3 Ghz) without thermal throttling. Note that in this test the CPU didn't exceed the PL1 level or it rarely exceeded the PL1 level just a bit and for few seconds. Anyway, while testing the stability of the CPU with OCCT, I noticed that the CPU at the start it exceeded the PL1 limit going up to the PL2 limit for maybe 20 seconds. After that, as usual, the power draw drop to PL1 level, the CPU power throttled and the max frequency went down to 2.7/2.8 Ghz. I mean, that's not a big deal, and I also think that in a real usage I won't exceed the PL1 limit, but is possibile to limit the power usage to PL1 level in order to avoid power throttling?

Hi. I have a stabel all core overclock of 4.375 Ghz on my Ryzen 9 3950x on 1.4 Volts. But the voltage seams to be to much as I am facing overheating Problems. My way of approach that problem would be to take the clock I have and go from there in litle steps down on the Voltage. Is there a better way to do that or am I totaly wrong ?

I have a Ryzen 5900x paired with a Asus B550M board and I am trying to do an undervolt to keep temps and power draw down. They aren't dangerous, but I am energy conscious and just want to get the most out of my CPU without the exponential power draw for diminishing returns in performance at stock voltages. My board has a profile in the overclocking utility for Eco mode, but it only has an option for 65 watts. It was rather unstable at the voltages it provided but I increased the top number from 87 to 90 and it became stable, however, at nearly half the power it was designed to run at, the CPU is a little sluggish and would like to increase it from 65 to 95 watts. At stock settings, the CPU would draw upwards of 150-160 watts under load and run at 80-85c. Currently at the 65w setting it maxes out around 70c Honestly, I don't know much what the numbers I'm messing with represent except the top number is the power limit to the CPU socket. Can anyone tell me what numbers I'd want to place in the 3 boxes to achieve my goal of 95watts and be stable? (or close to stable with minor adjustments)? Or perhaps tell me how adjusting the other numbers works and what it's doing? I'm kind of a noob, so thanks in advance. The pics are my current stable adjustment for the 65w profile

As title suggests, i'm trying to undervolt / use pbo limits on my 5800x since temps are a bit higher than i'd like. But in my BIOS i can change PBO settings in 2 places, "motherboard settings" and then theres at tab just called "overlocking" Just wondering which one i should be using or both. Mobo is a MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK

Good day, as mention above, I decided to upgrade to 1360KF on a Gigabyte B660M Gaming motherboard. I am getting thermal throttling with deepcool AK620 when under full load Cinebench R23, therefore I am planning to undervolt my cpu a bit to help with the issue but when I install Throttlestop, the setting I applied did not change the value so I changed to intel XTU thinking Throttlestop does not support 13 gen cpu but when I launch intel XTU, the voltage offset slider was greyed out. I am feeling very stupid but I thought undervolt is enabled in B660 board right? Or I need a z690 board?

Hi! I had some questions and need some answers. Please examine all of this and help me figure out what I should do. CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x Motherboard: Gigabyte X470 Aorus Gaming 7 BIOS version: F4g Did a manual OC across all cores with: Vcore to 1.4V Medium LLC And it only helped me reach 4.1GHz. 4.2Ghz was asking for more than ~1.45-1.5V XMP profile for ram set to Profile 1 (3600MHz) Cinebench score - 4121 (Highest so far in my tests) Nothing failed in prime95 test too F4g is the version that has a PBO Scalar setting It was removed from newer versions of BIOS for some reason My old temps (no oc) were definitely more than this before I undervolted. They were around ~90c and idled around ~70c Overvolting helped me a lot? but, PBO is not able to push above 3999 or 4000 on load It pushes 4.32GHz on idle on one of the cores for some reason Temps are definitely better And I beat my previous 4GHz manual OC score in cinebench too PBO Settings: PBO X10 PPT 1000 TDC 114 EDC 168 vCore Offset -0.1v MediumLLC (both) 3600MHz XMP Profile 1 on RAM Max Temp Reached 84.5C Idle Temps ~50-60c Cinebench Score - 3929 I've chosen the max values that Ryzen Master showed for (PPT, TDC, EDC) I've set all of the values through BIOS. The Undervolt looks pretty stable but I feel like I could do better and I'm missing a main point here. I used 3 softwares CPU-Z, HWiNFO and Open Hardware Monitor and the readings do differ in each of them. I've included all the pictures of after OC (load and idle) and cinebench scores And the pictures of the BIOS settings I was talking about Please take a look at them here: https://imgur.com/a/9UGtW0I I'm new to OC and messing with BIOS but I really like it! So can someone please help me understand why it isn't pushing above that 4GHz or 3.9Ghz on PBO? How can I improve the performance? And most importantly help me beat that manual OC 4.1GHz Cinebench score! Thank You!

Hey everyone. As the title suggests im on my first undervolting journey i've ever done. This is due to the fact i've only owned laptops (portability is needed in my life) and most had those controls locked. HOWEVER, i finally have a brand spanking new clevo gaming laptop! So i followed some guides using throttlestop and managed to get a decent undervolt i believe on my laptop. i'm coming here though to see if anyone might have some extra opinions to give or whether i should change some settings if i'm doing or did something wrong or just to say good job xD. anyways here are the specs i managed along with my best bench in cinebench r20 so far. Have tested stability with games Minecraft, League of legends, and the single core killer...Stellaris. Final question is...Is it worth trying to also overclock the cpu or no? i've heard most say no for laptops but just wondering what the reason is because i know you can undervolt and overclock at the same time so not sure why it would be different on a laptop.

Hi all, I have a tongfang rebrand laptop with an Intel i7 10875h. I was undervolting the cpu and restarted my laptop but it doesn't want to start anynmore. The power light comes up and the keyboard had lighting but that's it. The screen doesn't show anything and I can't even get to the bios setup. Things I have tried so far: 1. Connecting to external monitor. No luck there. 2. Removing and re installing the RAM, SSD etc. 3. Disconnecting the battery, CMOS power and restarting. It looks like the undervolt setting has been saved somewhere in the bios or CMOS :( but I can't seem to reset it. I have that suspicion because the laptop still has my keyboard lighting settings even after unplugging the battery and CMOS. I am at wits end, not sure what more to do.

Hey guys Let me just start with a small story. Before the LTT forum started, I previously asked my questions on Yahoo Answers. The LTT community is awesome so I switched to asking questions on LTT. Anyway lets go to my question here. I have an acer laptop that runs an intel ivy bridge i7-3610QM. The CPU is fairly overkill (Turbo Boost up to 3.3 GHz) for me as I use it mainly for school. Its TDP is 45W, so battery life is pretty poor (around 4 hours). I do have an aftermarket extended battery i bought but its heavy and protrudes out. I'm looking ways to tone down the CPU. I already tried looking at the BIOS and setting the Windows Power Management to set to max CPU state to 50% but the cpu still boosts to around 3.1GHz. Is there any other way to tone down the CPU to improve battery life? Thanks in advance \
