laptop Looking for the best laptop on the market!
Evyatar posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Hello everyone So, basically, I'm looking for a laptop that should be the best in every aspect (at least for me). I've asked Chat GPT, friends, retailers and Google, but no one found the laptop that I'm looking for. So, maybe here, in LTT forums some one could be the resolver for my issue? Let's say that money isn't the issue. What I need from the device: 1. Display - 4k OLED, Touch, perfebly 120HZ but I'll be find with 60hz. Size does not matter for me. Small, big, medium... 2. Keyboard - Full keyboard with a numpad. 3. CPU & Ram - Don't really care, anything from ryzen 5 / Core i7 would be fine for me. Don't care of it's U/P/H version of a cpu. 4. Have pen integrated to the device 5. Optional - If possible, ethernet port? Currently the only device that fits what I'm looking for is the X1 Yoga Gen 8, but it's without the full keyboard! What else could you recommend for me? Thank you! -
I recently built my own DIY monitor from an old Laptop which had touch. My problem is that i dont know hot to connect my touch digitizer to my PC and i wanted to ask if that is even possible. I dont know much about this topic and would be happy if somebody could help m with it. Edit: The glass panel in front of my display hat touch and i wanted to use the display with touch again. Kai

Hi there, during the last two weeks, I have been looking into touchscreen monitors. The person that tasked me with this wants a large screen (27"+) and a good quality display panel with a high resolution. Unfortunately, the offers on the touchscreen market are minimal; I could tell him right away that 4k and 27" are not going to happen. These high resolution displays are only available on All in One computers. The final decision was between the Dell P2418HT and the Lenovo T24t-20. As you can see from the title, we decided on Lenovo because of the better ports and the lower price. It was not an easy decision because there were no reviews online, except for the marketing material from Lenovo. The panel is 1920x1080 @75Hz; this was a pleasant surprise since it is listed as a 60Hz panel on most websites The monitor has 80W power delivery via USB-C It doesn't have speakers The colours don't look as good as on my MacBook, but this isn't a fair comparison. I tested the display with my SpyderX and DisplayCal. All of the default presets are garbage, except for the one selected as default. DisplayCal revealed these results: ACCURACY dE76 avg 0.083711 ACCURACY_ dE76 max 1.350533 ACCURACY dE76 rms 0.204007 GAMUT volume 1.12003861735 GAMUT_coverage(srgb) 0.9777 GAMUT_coverage(dci-p3) 0.7907 GAMUT coverage(adobe-rgb) 0.7139 In my opinion, the touchscreen experience on a display this large is not good. I had never seen a Windows touchscreen this large in person before, so I was eager to try it out. The monitor was connected to an Intel NUC with Windows 11 installed. The touchscreen felt very slow, despite the displays 75Hz refresh rate. I don't know its polling rate, but compared to my iPad, it felt unresponsive. I heard that Windows 11 reduced touch functionality; the first thing I experienced was that no touch keyboard pops up, when I click in a text box. Maybe there was a hardware keyboard connected; maybe there is an option to toggle; I don't know. I concluded that it is unergonomic to use a 24" touchscreen monitor; you have to move your hands more to reach for buttons than on a smaller touchscreen. I didn't test these horrible fake touch screens pens for drawing. If you want to draw, get a Surface Studio or a Wacom. I hope I can help someone looking for a touchscreen with this review. I can't tell yet whether the person who wanted this monitor likes it and decides to keep it in the long run. T24t-20 #1 2022-02-10 10-18 2.2 F-S XYZLUT+MTX.icm

Hi, I have an id-cooling 224 xt and the Backplate is resting over the stock backplate of the mother, not over the 4 corners, in what I assume has a 4 white nylon washers, this backplate is the same as the one provided by Noctua, I just hand tighten everything by hand and a slightly with screwdriver, just enough for the cooler to not move. Is this designed that way on purpose? Should it be tightened until it touches the actual motherboard with the 4 corners? here is what I am talking about, you can see the space between the motherboard and the withe washer, (I put a piece of paper so you can appreciate it)

I was planning to buy the new envy x360 but I know some models don't include the stylus and in my country all activr pens are quite expensive (over 150 usd) so I was wondering if I can use a samsung S pen (without it being charged). I only need it to work with its normal pressure levels so it would be more accurate than a capacitative stylus but much cheaper than other active pens. Will it work with full accuracy like on the note phones?

So my brother just updated his drivers using iobit driver booster on his Lenovo Yoga 11e and then his touch screen stopped working (it does an automatic restore point but he said that it did not work) I could roll each one back individually and figure it out that way but that's a lot of time so I wanted to test my luck and see if anybody here knew what driver was associated with the touch screen. Thanks

Hi, i recently bought a Acer T232HL its a 23" touch screen monitor. I have a multi-monitor setup 3 in total 1 144hz g-sync 28" main display, a top mounted vizio 32" and a left arm mounted Touchscreen the Acer T232HL. I have gone into touch settings and setup the touchscreen monitor with no problem, but my issue is that when i touch the monitor it moves the cursor off my main display the gaming one, which has me currently dragging my mouse around. I would love a fix for this as this is apart my current setup. I hope to be able to play a game in the center and play say hearthstone or another touch game on the left side with out interupting my flow on the current display. All help will be greatly greatly appreciated and goggle searches failed. TL;DR my touch monitor Acer T232HL is stealing my cursor from main display while not gaming and gaming, causing me to move my mouse cursor back to continue working. I have gone in touchpad settings and did the hit enter till touch screen setup. also tried updating, uninstalling driver.

I have been thinking about getting a new laptop for a while, but since my dreams and hopes for what it can do for me have changed, it has become increasingly difficult to find a solution that can fit my requirements. Background: I'm currently an informatics student finishing up my bachelor degree and keep finding myself in situations where I wish to sketch out a model or some concept, either to keep an overview of the current project, or explain to someone else how I imagine a solution could work. For this I would really like the solution to have stylus support, to help sketching down the ideas without having to open up some modelling software or taking pictures of pen-and-paper sketches, to send to other people working with me on the projects. I should probably also note that we use some heavier programs in some of the projects and I have found the Intel Core i5 4210H in my current Acer Aspire V Nitro VN7-591G to be rather lacking. So I was thinking about perhaps getting a quad-core for my next laptop. Probably not surprisingly I also play some games, mostly on my desktop at home, but it's also nice coming over to a friend's house to play some there. We mostly play Overwatch, Elder Scrolls Online or Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, so that might give some indication of what GPU would be recommended. On my current laptop the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M has also been rather lacking, giving framerates in probably the low 20's, as well as random stutter/lag in Overwatch, even at minimum settings, making playing anything other than Torbjörn a challenge, even in quick play. I have been wondering if this might be caused by the CPU, but that's just a hypothesis at this point. TL:DR Requirements (hopes/dreams): Touch screen with stylus support Quad-core CPU (Or at the very least a decent upgrade from the Intel Core i5 4210H) GPU that can run Overwatch, Elder Scrolls Online and Playerunknown's Battlegrounds at decent framerates As for a budget, I currently don't have a very hard line. I am okay with paying more for a more elegant solution, but I'd like to keep it within reasonable boundaries. Now, I have been looking around, and the closest I have come to an all-in-one solution might be the Microsoft Surface Book, but 3k $ seems quite pricy, even though the solution is elegant. And it still only got a 965m GPU, and as far I can tell a dual-core i7 (?). So I wanted to pick the wonderful brains here at the LTT forum to see if we can Frankenstein some solution to this project, whether it is a laptop and tablet combo, an AIO solution or maybe a laptop with an external GPU case (I have a spare NVIDIA GTX 780 that could go in such a case)? Thanks for all replies, I'm very curious to see your suggestions!

I am looking for an affordable touch laptop/tablet (Hybrid). My main requirement is that it must have a Physical keyboard and a stylus. I would be mainly running MS office (For presentations and stuff) and One Note(to take notes in class). My Budget is around $500. I really prefer "Detachables" as in where I can leave the keyboard at home and use just the tablet. I did consider the new Lenovo Yoga Book but the lack of a physical keyboard makes it a big no. Suggestions would be great.

battery Disable touch screen -> + Battery
JonnyTeronni posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
Watching the last video from Linus, was expecting to see something about if disabling touch screen helps with battery saving on a laptop. Anyone knows if it is true? -
I found a good deal on what looks like a quality touch screen desktop monitor, but I'm not too sure what the benefits would be for getting one... If I bought the monitor, it would be my secondary monitor. I'm looking for something cheap and used to just enhance my gaming setup, currently running a 144hz main monitor. Does anyone have any feedback on using a touchscreen desktop monitor? (pros/cons) or feedback on using one as a secondary monitor?

Hi everybody! Im Doctor N.... Anyways, my touch screen gps has died which came with my 01 Acura MDX. Unfortunately sending the unit in for repair will cost about 600$ And the only reasonably priced units i can find on ebay are for newer models. Im less concerned about the GPS aspect of the unit and more concerned with the climate control which can only be altered by using the touch screen GPS unit. I dont care if the GPS works, though i would like it to. I was wondering if anyone has dealt with cars and potentially emulating the software from Acuras GPS units, or coding something entirely new, in order access the climate control. I thought i could use a raspberry Pi and connect the 3 cables which deal with the climate control. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also i have very little to no coding skill and I hate doing the damn stuff but im willing to buckle down in order to save 600$

I was wondering if there was a way to have a couple of onscreen keyboard keys anchored to the screen? For instance permanently having a right click or space action on screen without having to bring up the full onscreen keyboard. Perhaps there is some third party software or built in feature I'm just unaware of. I'm using a windows tablet, on windows 10. Thanks Tom

Hello artisans, I bought my PAVILION 15 BC015TX last year,it`s the non-touch one. To get a better useing efficient, I want to change my non-touch display to the touch display. And I checked the official website and find it possible to make it as there`s another version which has the touch display. I got the HP official Maintenance and Service Guide and I think I got the spare part number of those things. Where can I buy these things on the list? Or where there`s a searching system of those part number? (Maybe I can know about its model number from the system??) I`m going to do it myself or if it`s too hard to do , where can I find the skillful people to help?? Many thanks!!

Hey everyone. I was just touching base in regards to a bit of a setup change I was hoping to implement when my Touch controllers come this week. I was hoping to be able to use them in my living room, where there is more room, but I dont really have the ability to be moving my computer back and forth. I was thinking something along the lines of what @LinusTech uses at home, with a computer in one room and the oculus camera's and devices in another. Is there a thunderbolt or USB 3 header with range enough available that will do this? http://imgur.com/a/qnFHw - Diagram of my house. The total distance is approx 30 feet or so from pc to the tv area. There are vents/duct work that I can run cables in if needed. Just curious if there are any options that will support the oculus in a room that far away without having to move my pc! Thanks for any advice!

Buy Oculus Touch controllers on Amazon: http://geni.us/A9DABsc Now that Oculus has FINALLY made the full Rift experience available for general consumers, it's time to determine who came out on top - Facebook or Valve?

wacom Windows (Wacom) Tablet as Pressure sensitive PC monitor
BhMbOb posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
Hi, I recently bought a wacom enabled tablet (Cube I7 Stylus) and have been looking for a program which would enable use of this on my main PC. I've seen a few programs which allow tablets to be used as touch screens on a PC,but was wondering if anyone knew of a program which would allow Pressure Sensitivity and as little input lag as possible. Thanks for the help! -
Hello, until now i used a T440p in combination with a thinkpad-tablet for university. Also I use the laptop for random surfing, and youtube stuff. But both of them are getting really bad. The performance of my tablet is laggy, and sometimes I'm not able to write down something, because windows is updating or a tiny thing is running in the background. And my thinkpad have seen better days, mainboard have a few issues, like DAC is defective and the charging-circuit is bad. So I decidet to upgrade, but my budget isn't the biggest one. I really need: 1. Active Digitizer, for writing math-stuff down. 2. 1080p or up display 3. decent battery time (at least 3h) 4. not really expensive I would like an ryzen 7 setup like the 3700u, so I'm at least able to play the one game I play while not at home (sea of thieves). For real gaming I have a gaming-pc, also for intense university software, like CAD-Stuff. I looked around and found the 1. HP ENVY x360 13-ar0106ng 827,08€ 2. ASUS Zenbook Flip 14 UM462DA-AI022T 877€ 3. Lenovo Ideapad C340-14API 81N60039GE 799€ My max budget would be 850€, but a few € more wouldn't kill the deal If you have other idears, or think one of them would be more suitable, please let me know.
