So I've been doing a good amount of research, as I'm looking to buy a 144hz monitor, not too cheap, but also not burning my bank. I've pretty much settled on this one monitor, the Asus TUF VG249Q. The one thing that's been worrying me is that it's ips display. Now, obviously it advertises 1ms response time, but I can't remember how many times people say IPS has super slow response times compared to TN. Is it really that bad? Or am I overthinking. And as a side note, how does the monitor pair up against the VG24VQ. Pretty much the same monitor, but with a VA panel. I appreciate anything!

I recently got my new Samsumg monitor Full HD LS22F350FHL, it`s full hd and has TN Panel, however, when i tried to turn off my computor, the screen went black, and i could see what seems to be backlight, i look my monitor from above, the image seems not to distort, but there is a white light coming throught the ''frame'' of the monitor. Is this a high quality TN panel so it has backlight? or is this just a defective product and should request a replacement?

Hello, i'm deciding on a new monitor, my budget isn't really that much, and i would like to know what monitor to buy, i'm torn between a Samsumg S24D322H TN Panel and a LG 24MK430H IPS Panel. I've searched, and IPS suffers from IPS glow, i play in a dark room and watch a lot of movies/series/anime with a lot of dark scenes, which one would be better option for me? i'm aware of the better color accurary with the IPS but, would the IPS glow ruin dark scenes in dark rooms for me? They are around the same price but i really can't decide which one to choose, would the IPS be like a lottery for less ips glow as possible?

purchase advice Advice on Recent Monitor Purchase (LG 24GL600F)
ClickForLife posted a topic in Displays
Hi there, I recently picked up an LG 24GL600F in the Black Friday sales for £116.99. It's a 144hz TN panel. I'm wondering if anyone can advise if I've took the right choice over some other products like the IPS MSI 241C or the AOC 24G2. The only thing that put me off these displays was the higher price tag and higher GTG response times. The selling points of the LG monitor was of course its 144hz refresh rate and it's stated 1ms (GTG). I mostly play fast paced games such as Fornite, Call of Duty and Halo. I'm in no way an esports player, and just play for fun. I also use the monitor for alot of office work and reading as I'm currently working from home. Have I made a good purchase, or should I have chosen a different panel? I'm currently using a Dell ST2220L TN panel with 5ms and 60hz, so it's definitely an upgrade! Also, are any fellow LG 24GL600F owners able to comment whether I made the right choice as I've now read some stories online about smeary text and blurriness on desktop. Thanks!-

I need some recommendations for a monitor. I've been looking for a while but it's very hard to choose out of the hundreds of options. My budget is around 300-400 dollars. I need a 1440p 144hz TN or fast IPS panel with 5ms or lower response time. Any and all suggestions are helpful. I have been looking for about a month and would just like to see what other peoples experience is.

Hey everyone, So as title says Iam looking to buy new monitor with this specifications:24inc 1080p 144hz IPS.Ive wanted to buy AOC 24g2u but since its out of stock thats not an option and Aoc itself has no idea when will they start production again.Ive saw new msi optix series which seems cool but its not released yet.I dont want VA monitors as they are not as good as IPS and no more than 24inc (because of 1080p).Iam into serious csgo and I dont think 4ms will be that much problem. Also I want to enjoy every game I play so once more IPS is best for that.My budget is 330$-340$

Hello guys. I'm between 2 monitors, one is a 27" Samsung qled TN panel non hdr with freesync and the other is a LG ips hdr freesync monitor. Now TN is known for bad colors but the Samsung has 125% RGB and qled. The LG has 99% RGB but is IPS and hdr. I'm not a competitive gamer so Ms is not my first priority. What monitor will provide the best colors/quality?? Is TN qled superior to the IPS HDR???

Which of these is the better monitor for fairly competitive gaming whilst wanting my game to look somewhat decent (2060 super and ryzen 3600) I am not too fussed about G-SYNC / Freesync Asus VG278QR 27'' 165Hz 0.5ms Esport Gaming Monitor (https://www.ebuyer.com/868288-asus-vg278qr-27-165hz-0-5ms-esport-gaming-monitor-vg278qr?wgu=267255_206719_15866347852321_b241f2e568&wgexpiry=1594410785&utm_source=webgains&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=97907&utm_campaign=PCPartPicker, LLC_206719 ) LG 27GL650F-B 27" (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lg-27gl650f-b-27-1920x1080-ips-144hz-1ms-freesync-widescreen-led-gaming-monitor-mo-15b-lg.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw1cX0BRBmEiwAy9tKHvMyARQ-fBRpW7_86Ydgti1Kr4WkDUTVu4EDNHxRLRem4DVOM5uvgBoC4tYQAvD_BwE ) MSI Optix MAG271CQR (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07MW4RZGS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8u7JEbEFMZBT9?th=1 ) ( I have listed a VA, TN and IPS panel) I am open to other suggestions as well. Cheers

Hello, after making various threads, I have narrowed it down to the specs I want for a monitor. (I play a decent amount of CSGO and rust, I also am going to play games like dying light 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 when they release) Ghosting is really my main concern hence why I didn't want a VA. I would like to know what is currently the best on the market for my budget and spec, so I can compare it with my current choices. Thanks for all the help

Hey guys, I'm trying to decide what monitor to buy but found out that there are the 3 types of monitors. IPS, VA and TN. I saw a lot of videos comparing them but I still don't no what to choose. I don't think I wold buy a TN panel because of the quality reproducing the colors. I was thinking about buying a VA monitor but I'm afraid I have problems with ghosting, as a lot of people say. First I was going for an IPS monitor but the response times and the blacks are better on A VA monitor so I don't know. Please help me. Answer me as fast as you can, I need to buy one quickly because I need to work. Thanks.

I have a TN panel (some Acer monitor). Lately i feel like i am not too comfortable sitting in front of the Screen for longer periods of time. My eyes start hurting from the behind and today i have a really bad headache on the top side of my scalp. As i have to work from home, i have to keep the PC on for at least 8 to 10 hours. Please note that the discomfort increases when i play PUBG LITE or other games on the monitor. I need to know if buying an IPS monitor will ease the strain on my eyes. Any other measures I can use to protect my eyes would be greatly appreciated. P. S : I use windows night light feature to turn on the yellow screen lights at around 8.30 to 9 pm, so i am not sure if this is a blue light issue.

Hello the most precious people, I have bought a new computer for a while ago (gtx 1080), and now i decided to buy a new monitor for gaming. The monitor i am using right now is a Samsung Snycmaster 550H. I thought it is going to be more enjoyable to playing games with a good 2k res gaming monitor. However, every site, every forum, every video on the internet are arguing about ips vs tn thing when it comes to the buy a monitor. I know ips monitors have better colors. On the other hand they have ips glow problem. I generally (actually always) playing games in a dark room. Ips glow thing will probably ruin all the enjoy for me. Also it is hard to refund here the country where i live. So, changing the monitor is not an option for me after buy. On the other hand tn monitors are not good for colors and quality. (But i don't mind view angle, monitor stands directly opposite of me). I don't mind response time. I am not a competitive gamer. I enjoy beautifulness of color and atmosphere. Asus PG278qr (tn) and Asus PG279q are seems strong options. What do you guys suggest? Also i am ok with other brands like Acer etc. Or should i just stick with my old 23'' 60hz monitor which have no problem right now? Thank you for your helps!

I will be getting the AOC Agon AG271QX which is a 144hz 1440p TN 27" monitor and I will be getting another monitor to pair this one. I'm looking for a 1080p monitor that has IPS and fairly cheap (this one only needs to be 60hz), VESA mount preferred but I don't know if a 25" 1080p has a too different pixel density so I want to hear your opinions on what would be a good pair to this monitor

I have a rather tight budget for getting a new monitor and I have an option of getting: an lg 25UM56P or any equivalent 25" 2560x1080 21:9 IPS display an asus mx259h 25" IPS display a dell e2416h 24" TN panel (1080p) and a 20" dell e2016h TN panel (1600x900) for much lower than the previously mentioned options I usually find myself wishing i could run two programs side-by-side but I heard the difference between IPS and TN panels is extreme. I'm also worried that by getting the two monitor bundle i would be putting myself at a disadvantage due to the lower resolution of the second monitor (the 20" one). Also, i heard a 25" widescreen is too narrow to be effective for any multitasking. I game on my pc and use it for work so I need the monitor(s) to help at both. Should i get the widescreen monitor now or get the asus 25" IPS monitor and save up to get another one later on or should I just get the monitor combo and save some money? (PS: i have an overclocked gtx 1060 so I can run games at the 2560x1080 resolution of the widescreen and all my games are widescreen supported).

Hey people! I'm new here so don't hurt me please! I'm a graphic designer and video editor who also games. I'm looking for 2 monitors. These monitors need to be the same in every aspect besides one needs to be for gaming (144hz, 1ms, tn etc.) and one for designing (ips w/ good colours). I plan to use these monitors on a dual 100 x 100 Vesa stand/arm. Just looking for possible options. Preferably 22"-28" w/ 16:9 ration (1920 x 1080 or 2560 x 1440) Thank you :3 *EDIT* I Need 2 identical monitors, one IPS and one TN What brands/models offer both TN and IPS versions. By identical I am referring to the exterior finish of the monitor not its specific performance specs. Obviously the images will look slightly different. But when off and side by side both monitors must look exactly the same (or extremely close). (Extreme OCD lel)

Hi everyone, I'm trying to decide weather the AOC G2260VWQ6 or the Samsung S24F352 would be the better option for occasional/casual gaming. I tried to find an answer to this question on local forums but nobody Seems to have any experience with the Samsung S24F352 where i live. Besides the fact that there is a small difference in frequencies (60 sam/75 AOC), difference in technologie Ips/Tn and size (23 sam/21,5 AOC), they both support freesync (using RX480). Usually I'm pretty close to my moniter so I don't know if the extra size will matter to much. I really hope any of you may have any experience with the Samsung S24F352 and can tell me if it is any good (or the Samsung S24F350 which are probably pretty much the same i geuss)? I hope you may be able to help me decide which one would be the better choise for me. Although my native language isn't english I tried my best to make it understandable and easy to read. If I made any mistake feel free to correct me. regards Techninja

Hello Everyone, I need help choosing a monitor for my setup. I will be sitting around 1.5-2 feet away from it, I have about 27 inches of horizontal space and about 18 inches of vertical. My setup will either have an rx480 and i5 7600k or a gtx1060 and an i5 7600k, and I will be using this for both gaming and productivity. I absolutely do not want an ultrawide and would love to have either a tn or va panel, with the maximum refresh rate. I normally prefer refresh rate over crisp images and have 100-300 USD. I am not sure whether or not to get the 480 w/ freesync, or the 1060 w/out. I also would like either a 24 or 27 inch. Here are some of the monitors I have looked at so far. 264$ monitor w/freesync 1080p 289$ monitor w/freesync 1080p 209$ monitor w/freesync 1080p 339$ monitor w/out freesync 1440p Are there any others I haven't mentioned here? Any help is welcome Thanks!

Hello guys, how's life treating you? Your Greek friend here, so sorry for my bad English in advance! To the point. I am thinking, since I have bought my new rig ( https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/183-show-off-your-setup/?do=findComment&comment=9367355 ) for a few months now, maybe I should start saving some money to invest to a new monitor. I am still rocking an 8 years old LG FullHD panel I have some concerns though. I admittedly know VERY few things about monitors and monitors' technologies. I only know a thing or two about hardware. 1. I have an EVGA GTX 1070 FTW. This card is supposed to be the sweet spot, the perfect choice, for 1440p gaming. But will it be powerful to run games at High-Ultra details, 3 years from now, at 1440p at playable frames (40+)? I think the point is, should I invest in a 1440p monitor? 2. When is the new leap in monitors' technologies coming (new panel types, HDR monitors etc)? How is it called, and is it worth waiting? Or should I just invest in an IPS panel? 3. I do not care about fast response times that much. I prefer a monitor with nice colors, good picture quality etc. (IPS>TN imo) Edit: This post is not a "What to buy" guide. It's mostly a "should I invest right now, or wait for new technologies" kind of thing.

It was originally my intension to reply here, but my answer developed a bit Not an IPS panel, but I started overclocking my 6 year old Samsung BX2450 a little more than a year ago. It can manage 72 Hz (Nvidia) and that makes a HUGE difference in a game like Rocket League. As I work a lot with graphics, I would love an IPS panel. But I also occasionally game and it is a demand from me, that the monitor can go above 60 Hz in full resolution, either by default or by overclocking. I really feel that the monitor manufactors are letting us down! Back in the 90's, I had a 15" Eizo Flexscan that could do 85 Hz at highest resolution and 120 Hz at the next highest. When we got flatpanels, it was said all above 60 Hz was a total overkill and not detectable to the human eye. But it has been approved again and again, that this is not the case! And it is really nice that you today can buy 144 Hz gaming monitors and above, but what about the rest of us? Why not set a new standard, like 75 Hz or 85 Hz?? Sure, we get larger panels and higher resolutions and that is a sweet thing. As a side note, most 144 Hz (and above) gaming monitors I have seen, can only run 144 Hz under very specific conditions and only at the highest resolution. How would people react if Nvidia and AMD one day suddently announced that a new standard would be implemented in graphics, promising incredible picture quality in gaming etc. but the technique could only run at 60 FPS max for the next many years, no matter the power of your PC? And that this was your only choice of gaming? This is what they did with monitors!! Sure, in the beginning, the technique in flatpanels was new and in their infancy, it was an early stage. But the 144 Hz panels shows the technique is there, even with some new IPS gaming monitors! I would really like to see Linus adressing this issue and it would also be nice to see some overclocking guides of flatpanels. Which panels can be overclocked and how much! Give us 75 or 85 Hz standard monitors NOW!! Or what is your opinion?

So has anyone here tried this or has any suggestions as to what 1080p monitors would go best together in a triple monitor setup? Like should I get either TN with 2 ISP on the sides or all TN, so the displays are more comparable? Ideally, it would be nice if companies made monitors that had the exact same bezel size/display colour accuracy, but only 60hz and without features such as "3D" which everyone clearly uses... Though I realize this might lose them some money with enthusiasts who will just buy three 144hz monitors so they're the exact same. My main concern is of course cost. I am aiming for the main monitor to be around 250£ and side monitors <125£. UK sites of course.

So I'm just about to enter pc gaming so I've never owend a TN VA or a IPS panel IPS sounds nice but is expensive and when I want g sync 144hz 1080p tell me if I'm wrong but IPS seem impossible except at huge prices VA seems rare and well I'm wondering about TN panels so are their colors really that bad and are viewing angels really that much of a issue if I'm going to be sitting at it all day

Soon, I'm getting my first 144hz 1440p monitor. Quite exiting considering I've had terrible pc's all my life and I got a 1080 FTW and have only been using a 1080p 60hz monitor which is considered blasphemy by today's standards (and I don't argue against that). The one I'm getting is the DELL S2716DG as it also has G-Sync. The only "downside" of it is it's TN panel. While i will agree that IPS has superbly better viewing angles and colours, does the viewing angle argument even hold for gaming? I hate people who straight up disregard TN panel monitors for the viewing angle when they're playing games. From what I know, you play games at a 90 degree angle to the monitor so it doesn't even matter, while IPS panels have their own mini lottery of backlight bleed. Is there something I'm missing or it the only true "gamer" issue for TN panels washed out colours (which I'm personally fine with)? These are just observations from YouTube comments and forum threads I've seen around so if you can, please correct me if what I have said is wrong. Thanks!

Hey fellas, for the last little while I was thinking of retiring my decade old 1920x1200 BenQ and getting something exciting, which boiled down to either getting the VR headset, or a similarly priced gaming monitor. But after trying an Oculus Rift I realized that I'd rather go with the latter. So, after frantic googling I've narrowed the specs down to the following list: FreeSync, since I'm consistently at camp red 27"+, as it would just feel weird trading my 24" 1920x1200 for 24" 1920x1080 1440p, same as above 144Hz, because you gottagofast After that the list of suspects shrunk right down to the following models, all costing about the same (~500€ in Germany): Asus MG278Q - TN panel, praised for it's "almost IPS quality", simple yet aggressive aesthetics and overall brand recognition. On the downside, I think it's by now being edged out of the market, though there are still plenty of places to buy Acer XF270 - the only IPS panel I found that matches the criteria, and that's about all of its advantages AOC Agon AG271QX - again a TV panel, and the distinction compared to the other two is a slightly wider FreeSync range: 30Hz - 144Hz (vs. 40Hz - 144Hz). And this is where you guys come in - I haven't seen detailed reviews comparing the three, and all I see are praises to each of them separately But I just can't find the info if either of them is better than the others in image quality/color bleed/other things not visible from the specs? And if they are all pretty similar, does it make sense to prioritize IPS, lower FreeSync range or the ASUS branding?

anyone have a Viotek GN27C or a Samsung C27FG70. what is your experience with it? i'm interested in a VA Panel just due to it being in between TN and IPS (samsung being 1ms)
