From the album: Linus is a loser

So I was going to attempt Taran's second macro keyboard for fun. However, I have a few problems right off the bat (per the usual). First: Should I use HID macros or Lua macros? in the video Taran says Lua Macros, but then the link in the description goes to HID Macros. Second: I've tried downloading both of them but both my Norton Anti-Virus and windows flag them as malware and harmful or something like that at least. So are they safe? I mean Taran obviously used it in the video, but then why is it flagged by my PC?

Just like the title says, are they dutch? Their (last) names (Taran van Hemert & Nick van Berkel) sure sound like it. Or, if it is not theirselves, are their family's dutch? -Merobieboy

Hello, everyone. I can't sleep... and usually i do things to make myself tired so i can go to sleep. That thing today is taking my sweet time subtitling Taran's video about his 2nd keyboard. This is my first time subtitling a video. Can i ask for assistance to review the captions? Thank you in advance

I'm an aspiring editor but I feel it's hard to find good and free plug-ins for premiere Pro CS6. Can anyone help me with this. There are very limited video transition plug-ins on premiere Pro. And will looking into after effects help?

I am trying to recreate taran's macro keyboard from this video. I am not able to find the program SECOND KEYBOARD - Premiere functions.ahk. This is the file where the all of the macros are. I have looked in the github repository but I am not able to find it. I am getting these directions from the README.md at this link. It says to use this program in step 8. Is anyone else able to find it? Thanks

Ok. This has been annoying me for a week or so, suddenly my laptop doesn't recognize mouse movement. The laptop recognizes the mouse in device manager and the mouse itself lights up. When I first turn on my laptop the mouse works fine, later after a random interval of time or I unplugged then plugged my mouse it lights up but it does not do anything, It will only work again after a restart. plugging another mouse in my laptop yields the same result. I plugged the mouses I use on another PC and they seem to work fine. Other usb devices works as well (keyboards, flash drives, etc.) The only thing I have done recently that might've caused this that I can think of is that I have been using Taran van hemert's Intercept + autohotkey secondary keyboard programs. I am thinking that the drivers these programs installed is messing with some stuff. Only think I have tried yet is uninstalled and reinstalled USB controllers. I may try to uninstall those macro programs tomorrow. Any insight on my situation guys? any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hello everyone, Me and my f@cked up buddy we will start a huge project building our own pc case as "tidy" as possible for watercool, 2 gpu etc etc etc.... So I was thinking if we can find some general components as a solidwork parts so we can just implement them instead of designing them. I know that @TaranLMG did some project with 3D printing. I don't want to spent 3 months just to make all the part (I don't really mind if they are not in the exact shape). Thank you very much and I hope I will have a positive response!

Hello, Is it possible to test (via software) if a specific number (for example "9182345") has been pressed and then execute a macro, for example WINDOWS+E? Thank you, David

His video was super helpful and I wanted to share it with some coworkers who are suffering from RSI, but youtube says the video was made private. Was there an explanation posted on social media?

I'm currently following the tutorial that Taran posted on using a second keyboard for macros, the one using intercept.exe and inception. Unfortunately, whilst trying to install intercept.exe it kept on saying "Oblitum Interception driver not loaded!". I've seen the tutorial multiple times now to make sure I'm doing everything okay, rebooted to see if that would help and searched online for a while now as well but all of the forums lead to nothing. Anyone else that had this issue and still remembers how to fix it?

I followed Taran's tutorial about creating a secondary macro specific keyboard and for the most part it works, I can write a hotkey in autohotkey and it will work with the secondary keyboard when in google. For instance, I can type with the main keyboard and when I press q on the second keyboard it will bring up a message box and tell me that I pressed q and it wont affect my typing. My issue is that when I write a script to lets say, use the second keyboard's w button to press control alt t, it will work in other programs but when I try to use it in after effects it doesn't perform the action and just presses the w key. The link to the video is included at the end of this post; Edit: also included is a short video of my problem;

So taran made it to a big streamer stream. To see it go to 12:30 in vid

After seeing the Macro-Keyboard series by Taran … with the issues with lua and intercept … i thought it should be possible to cheaply intercept keystrokes with something like arduino … And yes: Some Arduinos can act as keyboards. And there is an USB Host Shield to be able to connect Keyboards (and many more USB Devices) to an Arduino … There are (still) some drawbacks … which might get solved with updated code … see below What you need Arduino that can interact as USB HID (Keyboard) e.g. Arduino Leonardo (≈20€) Arduino USB Host Shield (≈25€) Arduino IDE Keyboard(s) and USB Hubs (if more than one Macro-Keyboard) Your AutoHotKey scripts (where every Keyboard has its own F-Key) See Tutorial by Taran: DIY 87 macro keyboard: The sequel -- Intercept.exe and [TEN] EXTRA KEYBOARDS (If you don't have any yet: Skip anything related to Intercept.exe) Script attached to this post How to setup: Install Arduino IDE open script attached to this post install "USB Host Shield Library 2.0" via Library Manager (Sketch→Include Library→Manage Libraries … not the USBHost Library) Connect Arduino, select Arduino Board Type and port under Tools Read through code to learn Upload to Arduino Connect "Macro Keyboards" to USB Host Shield (and connect that first if not already done) Check Key presses in AHK (maybe press reset button on Arduino or Shield) Maybe change order of F-Keys in Code and redo 4-7 or swap usb connections uninstall intercept.exe? Pros: Special handling of different Keyboards is outside OS All code is open source relatively cheap for unlimited(?) macros easy to modify theoretically even gamepad & midi devices are supported (not implemented in code but supported by used library) Cons: Some Keyboards might not work Currently only keys which have an ascii representation are supported* Currently Numpad Numbers are interpreted as normal Numbers* Non-US Layout Keyboards might behave different than expected** Using Arduinos can sound "scary" (If you do something wrong you could brick/semi-brick your arduino) *I tried to change to sending raw keystrokes instead of the "write ascii char" function … But I somehow managed to brick one of my Arduino Leonardos in the Process … it's quite a bummer because i only got them today I might attempt it later again (or someone else could?) ** Thats because of the same reason as the "only ascii"-issue (Currently the code supports up to 12 Keyboards connected via up to 4 USB-Hubs … but that is changed easily) Keyboard_Reprogram.ino

Recently I used on of Taran's scripts and adjusted it to fit my workflow. I use the numpad (as you can see in the code) as my 'macro pad' but the problem is that my Video Editing Program of Choice 'Hitfilm Epress' and OBS both have the same ahk_class. I found it on his github 2nd-keyboard-master.zip\2nd-keyboard-master\Taran's_Windows_Mods\I_do_not_use I would really appreciate i someone can help me A workaround I found 'For now' is to make a numpad button press a hotkey and setting the app to launch if that hothey is pressed (as you can see in the last few lines). Maybe @TaranLMG Here is all the code: NumpadEnd:: IfWinNotExist, ahk_class CabinetWClass Run, explorer.exe if WinActive("ahk_class CabinetWClass") Send ^{tab} else WinActivate ahk_class CabinetWClass Return NumpadDown:: IfWinNotExist, ahk_class Chrome_WidgetWin_1 Run, msedge.exe if WinActive("ahk_class Chrome_WidgetWin_1") Send ^{tab} else WinActivate ahk_class Chrome_WidgetWin_1 Return NumpadHome:: IfWinNotExist, ahk_class TaskManagerWindow Run, Taskmgr.exe WinActivate ahk_class TaskManagerWindow Return NumpadPgDn:: IfWinNotExist, ahk_class Qt5QWindowIcon Run, C:\Program Files\FXHOME\HitFilm Express WinActivate ahk_class Qt5QWindowIcon Return NumpadLeft:: IfWinNotExist, ahk_class Qt5QWindowIcon Run, C:\Program Files\FXHOME\HitFilm Express WinActivate ahk_class Qt5QWindowIcon Return PrintScreen::RButton NumpadHome::F13 NumpadRight::^F1 NumpadClear::^F2

Hi for whoever reads this, I just want to share a bunch of stuff I've been collecting recently that as of right now enabled me to turn my Ipad Pro into a full wireless macro "keyboard". Quick summary: (very quick because I don't want to lose the productivity freaks that may be interested in this) I was currently running variations of Taran's AHK scripts on Icue but I run out of keys...Unable to get my hands on HASU I did the next obvious thing, "lets give meaning to the 'PRO' word on the Ipad tittle" (in reality it actually works in any tablet). For context, I do 2D animation compositing work Inside After Affects and I also supervise a team of two other compositors (and the film I'm currently working has 1300 shots), every piece of automation is desperately needed. So, to get lots of extra "hotkeys" what I did was to use this OSC app to send MIDI signals to the computer so that AHK could map them and do his work(or my work) for each signal. Example in action: (I didn't had time to make an specific layout to use in After Efects so I was using this keyboard for testing, when I do it I will share it) For those who haven't seen Taran series on Macro keyboards I recommend doing so because this is extremely specific stuff. Now to the actual stuff: Get the TouchOSC App that's been around since 2007 ( works on Andorid or iOS) - Why not any other free OSC/MIDI app? Because Touch OSC has this layout editor that lets you decide which MIDI value/note to be passed on key-press, and if you don't want to get into MIDI you can setup normal Keys and use it with A-Z, 0-9, F keys for macro... Not only that but the desktop editor let you customize the layout of the buttons to your heart's desire. TouchOSC Layout editor (you only have to pay for the iOS/Android app the rest is free). The MIDI signal is interpreted as Notes because MIDI stands for Music Instrument Digital Interface, so the "hotkeys" are represented and mapped as "Music Notes" Download the free TouchOSC Bridge and TouchOSC Editor - (And then you can install them, its pretty straight forward) ( with the editor you can create the layouts and assign values to the touch keys) Go to Github and download this custom made MIDI Library for AHK https://github.com/micahstubbs/midi4ahk - ( This guy, made an awesome job to compile all the work people did in this thread) Inside the main folder you will see a bunch of scripts, most of them for testing purpose. Open "MidiInWMTest.ahk" and press a keys on the tablet to see the signal passed to AHK. - ( And if you want to get funky, configure a key on the OSC Editor to return any note from 48 to 55 and run "Midi_in_lib_test.ahk") The "midi_keymap_template.ahk" already comes loaded with the basic "hotkeys" so you can get right into it (it has several setups for some notes, I believe you can do notes up to 127 + multiple channels, in another file "wheel_vis_sample.ahk "you can learn to capture Control Changes instead of Notes. MIDI has lots of output signals to map). That's it... It is actually pretty simple stuff, the work was already there, all I did was to assign new use to it. If you liked it check out the thread I mention in the AHK forum, this user orbik did an awesome job on a dll to create this MIDI library for AHK. And last but not least all started when I saw a guy doing this TouchOSC layout to control his After Effect. (next step is to get him to share his layout lol) PS: I don't know if Taran will ever get to read this, but if he does, Taran, you are my HERO! You have saved me probably hundreds of hours and dollars from your macro endeavors!

I wanna know how many macros taran has now with a proper update and if there has been any changes to the software he uses to get his keyboards working and also i am a video editor myself and i would like to know how to add more than just the 2 keyboards i have and get them working stabiliy. And i am having some issues with lua macros and frankly i dont want to learn how to code in lua. I would also like to know how your editors work round any corrupted footage they may encounter, well tbh i want to know how they work around premieres bugs. I have used premier for the past 2 years and i will continue to use it but i have en counted points where premier actually corrupts its own project file while in use has that ever happened to any videos in LMG?

We want Taran in another video. This if for people to rant at Linus for making videos that are worse without Taran.

I liked a keyboard I saw very much but I did not need one at that time so I forgot its model name I think it was corsair ... what I also kinda remember is that Taran Van (the guy that does the video editing in ltt) also mentioned that he likes that keyboard either in a ltt video or in his own channel. What I also know is that they dont sell them new anymore(and I think taran mentions that too when he mentions that keyboard). If I get to see it ill remember it... (it had some extra buttons too and I believe its mechanical as well) If anybody knows what I am talking about then please help me out since I need to get a new/used like new keyboard and I would like to search for that one
