Hey! I've had some issues with my audio and never bothered fixing it until now. I was hoping to get some advice on how to proceed. MY SITUATION: 1.) My powered Edifier mr4 in general will buzz at a certtain volume whern idle (the roller on the speaker itself). I keep the roller a little down which is just fine, it's not the issue. 2.) my NZXT B550 motherboard rear 3.5mm connector is broken for no reason. They cannot replace/repair because it is no longer selling. I use the front panel 3.5mm connector instead. 3.) My audio configuration is using a 3.5mm out header on my O11D front panel connector. It connects to a Y-splitter. One side of the splitter goes to my Subwoofer (3.5mm to RCA splitter), the other side goes to my edifier MR4's. I do not move the rollers (for levels) on the subwoofer and edifier MR4's as I prefer to adjust volume on windows directly. (Adjusting the speaker would require me to adjust the subwoofer and it sounds weird otherwise) --------------------------------------------- THE SOUND ISSUE I HAVE: ISSUE: outside of the buzz in my situation #1 above, I hear high pitch noise when my mouse moves, and it's really obvious if i temporarily increase volume roller on the speaker. The buzz occurs when I scroll etc. Ther sound seems change a bit if my CPU or GPU is under load, a constant buzz when this happens. My research: My research led me to believe it is not the cables, and it is likely involving lack of EM shielding in the computer. That or it's related to ground loop issues. I've also heard this is an extremely common issue with USB. Apparently, the toshilink is handy here (optical), which I happen to have on my motherboard. --------------------------------------------- HOW DO I PROCEED?: After reading many forum pages on reddit and LTT, I was considering an external DAC or Audio interface. People have suggested DAC over budeget audio interfaces because the quality of the DAC unit inside the audio interface may be very bad (and that the device often focuses on input and ports as opposed to output). Im also told that those dongle DAC's like apple's USB-C one are pretty good. However, I've also read that toshilink's dont allow noise to travel like USB does, and so I've ultimately been looking into Budget DAC's that have toshilink input. Will this solve my issue? SUMMARY: please let me know if this works: B550 -> Toslink Cable -> Budget DAC -> (Y-splitter into powered sub and powered speakers) OR (connecting speaker and sub directly if DAC allows) SOME OTHER IDEAS: Optical to Reciever, audio interface, etc. However, none seem to be economic. Additional Quesitons: Would having a Dac with tube amplifier benefit over one without? Something like this: AIYIMA T10 JAN5654 Tube Vacuum Preamplifier Audio Decoder Do all DAC's inherently have an amplifier inside? Will this matter much for powered devices like mine (speaker and subwoofer are both powered) Will my toshilink cable->DAC idea work in reducing noise on the motherboard? (Mouse movement noise, CPU/GPU load noise, etc) Noticed all the budget DAC recommendations only have 1 output (L/R RCA), any good way to add on more without it becoming gimmicky (bad quality) or super expensive Any sub-100$ DAC recommendations for USA Amazon? If you read these, don't feel pressured to answer ALL of them. that's a ton of work but I do have a ton of questions. Any advice/info is useful

I would really appreciate any help on my question, So I am looking into buying a new pair of headphones and decided to go with the stereo route. since I have only used headphones with digital 7.1 for the past 7 years I dont really know what stereo is supposed to sound like. So when I set my headphones to 2.0 stereo I noticed that when I'm playing for example Overwatch or ingame audio on yt that when a sound comes from the direct left I hear nothing on the right, and the other way around. Is it normal for stereo to sound that way? When the audio comes from in front of me I hear it more balanced in both ears but the sharp left and rights sound kinda odd to me. Any help or info on how to fix this would be really appreciated thx in advance.

Is there a way to default the connection to AG audio and not stereo, when I connect my bluetooth headphones? The high pitch whine is ridiculous. I am currently running Win 11.

Hello Would request your help to fix the microphone issue with my new headset. It is a logitech H111 with single cable/jack for speakers and Microphone. When i plug in to the laptop (TravelMate B113-M) in the port, it seems that it is not recognizing the device. I can hear the sound in the speaker but not able to record/speak. Thanks Enzo

Hi all- My family is in the process of building a new home and in addition to running ethernet cables my dad wants to run speaker wire for his stereo in the wall. We are hoping to use either 14 or 12 AWG wire since some of the runs could be quite long (up to 80-100ft). We only need 2 wire cable instead of I see some are 4 wire. What cable brands have you guys had luck with? There are so many options it is almost overwhelming. We need a 500ft spool. I was trying to stay away from the CCA cable since I know that is not as good as pure copper, but the listings for the wire has that information buried so you don't notice it. Thanks all

I currently own and drive daily a 2007 Toyota Sequoia, bought used it last summer. Apparently the designers at Toyota were too focused on the 2008 complete model redesign to care, but the 2007 model has a cd-radio-cassette-deck setup from the factory. In a 2007 SUV. Other cars had at least an aux input, some even had bluetooth by 2007, but I'm stuck with a frickin' cassette deck. That ain't gonna fly, I need something that bluetooths at the very least. Also the volume knob is miswired or shorted out or something because it doesn't function. turning it left or right does very little, it takes about 30 minutes of fiddling and fussing to get it to a usable level, and even then it can only play CDs, cassettes, and the radio, so I just keep it turned off. I use my Jabra earbuds to listen to music when I'm by myself. That means I can't share music in the car with any of my frequent passengers. I would like to retrofit it with something significantly more functional. I got about $350 to spend on it as of right now, just to get the stereo in working condition, the speakers sound fine. Farther on down the line I would like to install a sub, not to be obnoxious, but to get the "full experience." I have no idea how to do that, I'll figure it out. I know that Crutchfield.com is the best place to find what I need, but I thought I'd poke around in here first, just to get an idea of what to expect. I don't mind spending a day or two figuring out how to install it myself, I just want to get the most bang for my buck, and avoid amateur mistakes. any advice? Thanks! Hi all, in my living room I have a stereo with an amplifier, CD deck etc. I'd like to be able to play music from my phone. Right now I am using an AUX cord, but I'd like to change that, since it restricts my phone to the location of my stereo. What would you suggest I'd do? My first idea was to add a bluetooth receiver to the stereo, someone else suggested to go over wifi, but I don't know if this is simply implementable. I also thought about building a small computer (maybe linux system) next to the stereo to also be able to play flacs from an external HDD, would there be a sensible way to connect to this computer to push the audio to the stereo like with wifi-enabled stereos? For now this is more of a planning phase, so any and all input will be appreciated. Cheers, Smile

Hello! Well im going for a computer upgrade and while im at it i thought why not get a sound card for my sorround system in my room?! Im using these. My current computer wont play the music, i figure its because my motherboard dosnt support 5.1 sound, but I really dont know why not. This is my current motherboard, so I need a sound card supporting 5.1 and with a great audio quality! What should I get? im thinking of any of these.

I need some help. I want others to listen what is being played on the home theater speakers while I'm listening to the same thing on headphones. I'm slowly getting deaf and can hear much better using headphones but I want to be able to hear both at the same time; headphones for me and regular speakers for the others. I have my computer, cable tv, iPod and Blue-ray all going to my receiver and then the signal going to a Samsung One Connect Box and then to the TV. I have traditional front speakers with a traditional center channel speaker (no bluetooth). I can hear my computer, cable tv, and iPod from my Zone 2 line out (all connected digitally (mostly) and analog) but not my Blue-ray (HDMI and optical out) but the sound is very low. I thought my Zone 2 function would control the volume but I tried and couldn't make it happen. Besides, I'd like to also hear my Blue-ray being played through the headphones, also. Someone suggested a de-imbedder (HDMI pass through with analog signal out) where it is placed between the receiver and the One Connect Box but I couldn't hear anything from the headphones. I tried the KanexPro HAECOAX3. Looking at my One Connect Box, it looks like I can upgrade the one I have (model BN91-17814A) and get a unit that has an analog output but not real sure if that would work. My TV has no audio outputs (Samsung UN49KS8000F). My receiver, Onkyo TX-NR656, has a Zone 2 line out and two optical inputs; computer is in one (works) and Blueray is in the other (doesn't work). So, don't know what to do at this point. Do I try another de-embedder or a DAC? Maybe the DAC hooked up to my second HDMI out on my receiver? Do I just get a headphone amplifier hooked up to my Zone 2 line out and not worry about my Blue-ray? Do I get another Blue-ray player with analog outs? And amplifier? Any options on this would be appreciated. And, if you think I should post this to a different category, please let me know.

I've been looking for a simple audio mixer I will use to combine 3 inputs so I can hear them all through my headphones simultaneously. The problem is that at my price point (under $50) I can only find ones with mono outputs and/or less than three inputs. Can someone find me the right mixer? Bonus if it also uses 3.5mm jacks rather than 1/4 inch for the inputs and outputs but I know that's probably not a thing, and I'll just have to buy a few adapters. Thanks.

Hello, Realtek HD Audio driver won't play any sound in Stereo with headphones plugged in. And when they're in, the background sound is way louder than the sound of voices. I solved that by only using or the left or the right channel in the windows settings the sound is still crappy AND mono. Also, in YouTube, the sound will just go back to the background being louder than the voices. I too noticed the Realtek software doesn't even recognise my my headphones in the first place. So I had to manually checkmark "put out mic/line exit to front panel" in the settings. The sound quality stays the same, but then I can't even regulate the left/right scale in the windows settings anymore. And I'm kinda stuck there, so if anyone would like to help me out, that would be nice. Thanks in advance! Specs: Audiochip: Realtek ALC892 Channels: 8 (7.1) Front Module: 2x USB 3.0, 1x Mic, 1x 3.5mm Headphone Jack Audio exits: 3x Analogue GPU: Intel(R) HD Graphics 510 Headphones: TRRS (Apple) (should be stereo capable, I also checked if they were broken but they aren't) Drivers: (all updated today: 20-10-2016) Audio- in- and out-put version: 10.0.14393.0 Sound, video and games version: 6.0.17936 System-devices version of Realtek HD Audio: 10.0.14393.0 GPU driver version: 20.19.15.4501

So I just finished building my rig, freshly installed windows 10 and I have problem with my speakers. I'm using a Logitech X530 speaker set and it's 5.1. My mobo is an MSI B350M gaming pro carbon with Realtek ALC1220 audio chipset (and audio boost 4.0) that supports 7.1 and has 6 outputs: S/PDIF( not my concern) and 5 3.5mm audio ports. I am plugged into 3: Line in, Line out and Mic in. The windows is 64 bit, all drivers installed. The problem is that only 2 front speakers work when I test them with windows. I was told I should look into the realtek software but I haven't got one, only something called realtek high definition drivers which is not a program. Any idea why it's not working?

So these 3 are pretty cheap at the moment and I'm wondering between 1 of the 4 they are basically same price at the moment https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vibration-Function-Professional-Headphone-schwarz2/dp/B01K9Q7IM2/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1509136347&sr=1-2&keywords=g1000&th=1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01HCRH9WU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2VX6OV6T7NMPB&psc=1#customerReviews https://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Gaming-Headset-Quality-Lightweight/dp/B00CJ5FPSG/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1509137586&sr=1-1&keywords=g230 also wondering about which color I should get since with 2 of them I'm currently using the tracer 7.1 sphere but they aren't working well lately and I can hear through only 1 ear most of the time

I've seen a lot of comments on videos where people are reviewing 1000w+ speakers and everyone says that they won't actually put out 1000w. So I was just wondering would my 2 wharfedale delta 30's (75w rated) actually output 75w each? I'm looking for a new amplifier and can only find ones that are like 60w per channel or below. Would that be powerful enough for my speakers or not?

So I'm not expecting this post to get much if any traction but I thought it was worth asking. Do any of you know how to, or a place where I can learn how to jailbreak my new car stereo? I installed a new deck in my car so I can have fancy touchscreen/handsfree tech in my 9-year-old Pontiac Grand Prix (still worth it though) and learned from my brother that he has a friend who has jailbroken one before so that he was able to mirror his phone screen on the stereo. I mean like a full mirroring where you can go in and out of apps and all the fancy shit your normal phone already does. This is horribly unnecessary but also extremely tempting to do. The stereo is a Pioneer AVH-X2800BS. I don't know if the specific stereo matters or if all of the AVH codenames can be jailbroken the same way. So how do I do it? I haven't been able to get into contact with my brother's friend and see if I can get any info from him. I tried googling it but that yielded no useful results and venturing past the 2nd page of Google are pastures I'd rather not wander in. All I'm really asking for here is at most a forum or some kind of website dedicated to jailbreaking anything and everything so I at least have somewhere to begin to search for myself. Thanks, guys!

So, I purchased a used Panasonic SA-HT700 from our thrift store. Everything appears to be in good condition. The bass and the speakers all work when I am playing DVDs. However, when I try to play music from another device through the stereo audio inputs, only the bass and the front speakers work, which makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, I am not looking for perfect sense. I am looking for a possible workaround to get the entire 5.1 setup to work when playing through the AV Inputs. Is there any possible solution? I hope my situation and question makes sense.

HI. i am planning to buy the sony mdr 10r. it currently sells for 100sgd which is abt 70 usd. There is a huge discount on it. I am wondering whether using a stereo headphone with something like razer surround be as good as a gaming heapdhone. I am also considering the hyperx core for 85 sgd, which is about 59 usd and razer adaro, also for 70usd. Please advice on which headphone i should buy.

Soundbar {hdmi out} + Stereo {rca in} = lots of good music? or fail? Has anyone ever tested if you could use an hdmi converter on a sound bar to use the hdmi out to rca ~audio only in~ "a stereo" to make them work together? I just got my first sound bar but its just not there compared to my stereo, the stereo is old and only supports rca in so I was thinking of trying this out to see if it worked to combine both. Have found no information on it so my hopes are not high that it would work, Thanks for your time

Hello everyone, Today my sound started to act up. When i plug in my regular 'jack'-headset i have nice stereo sound. If i plug in my USB-headset (Razer kraken pro 7.1), i only get sound through the left side. BUT It gets weirder ... when i plug in my 7.1 surround sound system (via HDMI on my motherboard) i get sound trough all the speakers, BUT only music, speech / dialogue seems to be muffled all the way into the background. So watching series is a nightmare ... Things i have tried: -> uninstalled Razer synapse and Razer surround. -> uninstalled any other sound related software i could find (Realtek HD audio manager) -> checked to make sure that balance is equal to left and right sound within windows. (Properties -> level -> balance) Using Windows 10 x64, other details of my set up you should be able to find on my profile. Thank you for trying to help! If you have any follow-up question do not hesitate to ask!

Using a 2-Male RCA adaptor cable I connected my stereo speakers to my monitor. That worked great. I later decided to try to connect my speakers to my motherboard. As I unplugged the speakers, I forgot to turn them off. Now, my left speaker no longer seems to work (no audio) with the motherboard nor the monitor. I have ordered a new adaptor cable, as I suspect that it's damaged. But I'm concerned if it's something more serious. Perhaps the speakers themselves sustained damage? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I had switched on Mono for one occasion a couple weeks ago in the windows sound settings, and even though i turned it back off, ever since only my left channel is working (subwoofer is working). I have a right and left speaker along with a subwoofer (logitech Z533), and to make sure that it wasn't a hardware issue, i switched the inputs for the left and right speakers and then only the right one was working, since it was playing the left channel. I just got a brand new pair, thinking that maybe it was possibly a hardware issue, but they are still doing the same thing upon installation. What could be wrong? How do i get both channels working again?
