First of all, I know this forum, it is like reddit so I don't expect any quality reply from this question. I am not a hater, I am just plain curious. I follow them since 2010 and I'm only happy to see that they're successful. The question still stands because honestly it might prove useful to me in the future if I reach such a level of "popularity". How much do they get per sponsor? I know it depends, that it's variable and the sponsor name and "size" matters a lot, I'm also assuming there's some sort of NDA on that information but still, an estimate would be nice. You can feel free to estimate (using that inch of your brain that can answer seriously and not with memes and other retarded stuff) a quote, and we'll discuss if it makes sense. Sponsors like Ting, TunnelBear, SquareSpace, DBrand... how much do they give him? Usually he does receive free stuff for reviews/projects from brands like Intel, Razer, Seagate but what about those that just buy Ad Space? I'm curious.

British educational youtuber Tom Scott has released a video about common claims made in VPN sponsorship segments. Video summary: You don't need a VPN to hide your password these days since SSL encryption is used almost everywhere. "Military-grade encryption" is what SSL uses as well. Not a wrong claim, but misleading. Your ISP can see what domain names you request, which is something you might want to hide with a VPN. But what they can't see is the whole URL. VPN providers can be compromised by hackers or governments as well. They are great for circumventing geo-blocking and piracy though, but you can't really advertise with that. Originally, this video was sponsored by a VPN provider, but they dropped it last second. tl;dr: VPNs are not a general necessity because of SSL I'm not posting this here as an attack on LTT or anything like that, and I'm aware that many of you will already know most of this. I'm just seeing a lot of channels with less of a tech-focused audience (and owners) do actual scare-mongering that it makes me glad that this easy to understand counterpoint exists.

Hi All, So just out of curiosity , I was wondering how to possibly start if I love building PC's, I have some experience in hardware and got some ideas for builds and would like to get some kind of sponsorship or programme or whatever. For example to make reviews or just the way that I saw people posting build logs here? How does it actually work? Of course getting all the parts myself everytime it's rather hard due to the costs but

People who've done sponsored builds, what were they? Did they work out in the end? What happens if you fail to complete? Is it difficult to get sponsors? etc.

First off, this is going to be a personal supercomputer, so it wont be rows of towers like you think when you hear supercomputer, think of it more a rendering build. Well a little bit about me, I live in a little town called Shoshone Idaho, I live and work on a cattle/farming ranch (roughly 1000 acres of land). I do everything from running a tractor to branding and roping calves, and feeding 150 cows on a daily basis. Contradictory to my lifestyle, I love technology. When i was 13 I saved up my money, bought a broken dirt bike, fixed it, and sold it a year later making 1000 dollars after expenses. I saved up a little more working money and a couple months later I bought an ASUS G75 laptop for my 14th birthday. My dad said it was a the biggest waste of money and mistake in my life. I however I have used it everyday to do homework and everything else you can do with a good laptop for the past 3 years, and its the best investment I have ever made. ( I'm 17 As of last August). Now on the subject of my senior project. As you can tell, my father was born and raised on a ranch just like I was, so he is very non-tech savvy and refuses to be when I try to teach him anything. He probably types 2 letters a minute and has to call me when he wants to use the keyboard. So as you would guess he was not very excited like i was when i told him i wanted to build a supercomputer for my senior project. He will back me up in everything I do, but to him im speaking a different language when i start talking about computers. I have a reference build for computer, and the cost it was close to 10 Grand. I nor do my family have 10 grand to spend on a computer. Sure if it were a new tractor or piece of farming equipment my dad would be happy to put 10 grand towards that because it would pay itself back. However he doesn't see any return in building a supercomputer, so i could get 700 dollars MAX if anything from my father, so there is the reason behind the sob story. So what I came here for Is a Sponsorship(s) and a mentor to help me through my project. I have tried to reach out to multiple YouTube channels because this would be a cool story for a YouTube video and repay them for there help/sponsorship through a video on there channel, but i have came up empty handed on everyone that I reached out to. I would Ideally like to get each of the company's that I would request PC parts from (Intel,Asus,Nvidia,EK,Corsair,etc) explain there relationship to me and my senior project, therefore everyone involved gets a guess you could say credit, if you would, to helping me with this, as to lets say one company or person. My Mentor would just be someone that will say that they will help and guide me through the process of my senior project (building supercomputer). Why I am doing this is because of where I came from and Idaho as a whole. I doubt anyone in this world thinks of technology when they think about Idaho. I'm not trying to change that but as some of you may know Idaho is not top notch in its education. In fact Idaho is 50th, that's right, the worst state in the nation for how many high school students go on to college. This is mainly because Idaho is a very agricultural state, and i know many people who just don't because they have to take up what there family did agriculturally before them. I want this story to go big. Not just for me but for education in Idaho. Maybe this project will bring new light and importance to a subject that frankly, people just want to sweep under the rug. So please, anyone interested in helping me with sponsorship's anyone who is really tech savvy that would like to help me as my Mentor. Anyone who could help me or offer a sponsorship in getting my supercomputer built I would love to tell you more and would love your help. If I cant get any help, I have a plan B, which is downgrading from top of the line everything and the cheapest I can go under 700$ Budget. So please, anyone who could offer me a sponsorship, or someone who would be kind enough to be my mentor, please respond. I need all the help and exposure I can get to make this actually happen.

Hi LTT community and or LTT "crew"(?) During your latest WAN show, I couldn't help but notice some snickering in relation to a sponsorship from Hotspot Shield, which quite apparently has ended. Now things come an go, and that is the way of the world. I have be trying to find out if the sponsorship ended due to issues with their product, or if the co-operation stopped due to inter-co-operative issues between Anchorfree and LTT? ie. should i start looking for a different solution, switch to TunnelBear, or can I ride out my remaining 315 days of my elite subscription with HSS, with peace of mind, before changing VPN provider? YouTuber JackFrags, who was involved in the "EA paying youtubers to talk positively about BF4" scandal has published a video today explaining that some of the accusations are just plain wrong, and others were valid, and explains the facts: Basically: They were not paid not to say anything negative about the game until 29th November, and that rumour is completely false The FTC has said that there will be no sanctions for the non-disclosure of information The program, ronku, simply requires the youtubers to make up to 3 videos which show off the levelution in the game and not to focus on bugs (they could even mention them as long as it was not the focus of the video) The videos that were uploaded to his channel would have been made and published anyway, whether EA had paid him or not, and the content would have been the same The T&Cs of the program have now changed to say that channels are required to say (in the video or description) that it is sponsored by EA, otherwise it is rejected No BF4 content released before the 29th October 2013 was paid, and any positive impressions in those or any other videos (including during the promotion period) were his own, truthful opinions, which were not affected by any money that may or may not have changed hands I personally feel that this is fair enough, and while it would have been nice for him not to have needed to make that video, I understand his position, and would probably have done the same thing if I was in his position. Moreover, none of the other channels that have been accused have made a video apologizing (as of 21:30 UTC on 28th Jan 14) (EDIT: apparently other channels (levelcap) have made posts on reddit - see below), which tells you something about their respect for the community.

If this is inappropriate please move it elsewhere or delete this - I know I am talking about the behind the scenes stuff that isn't usually discussed with your customer base, Camera and production can be exciting/interesting because its still hardware geeking; Market penetration powerpoints - not so much! Unless of course your startup geek like me, where watching LTT and PCper are interleaved with Bloomberg and TechCrunch What I don't understand is why Channel supper fund oops sorry Super Fun isn't a huge cash cow for LMG? Tech TV by its very nature is targeting hardware geeks, but CSF should have broad market appeal? Especially as it should appeal to teenage men who would aspire to be like their older bros. i.e. the LMG group of blokes. Or to 20 something men where the LNG group hopefully reflects the antics 20 something men are likely to get up to. I assume youtube give you statistics about age, culture, gender information, or is that data not broken out? Its just that if my understanding is correct CSF should appeal to a broad range of advertisers targeting those age groups from movie companies, through alcohol companies through to people like Red Bull. Also since Youtube is net based is there a prohibition on tobacco marketing or is that too beyond the pail? Please understand Nick I am not questioning your skills, I am sure you have worked long and hard to generate sales. I am just interested as because i have faced similar issues before with other business. When I was looking at this years ago we didn't have the direct access that is possible now and equally we didn't have the reach that larger companies sought. But that's not an issue for you, you have the right eyeballs in depth? Is it just conservative advertisers or a surfeit of options? The later would seen odd as LMG seems definitely in unicorn territory as far as youtube success goes as i said if this inappropriate please delete and i'll try to take this to other forums such as email
