Title pretty much states it on this 1 in a nutshell: I'm wanting to hear your suggestions for the best software or browser extensions I can use specifically for downloading tracks off of Soundcloud. I'm hoping that whatever I end up using, there won't be any distortion to the tracks that I download. (Which is sort of important here.) Well, if any of you need more details or wish to ask me anything additional, feel free to do so & I'll reply back. Thanks in advance!

Original Article: https://techcrunch.com/2017/07/12/soundshroud/ "A tense scene unfolded yesterday as user-generated, music-streaming service SoundCloud held an all-hands meeting to explain to employees why it suddenly had to lay off 40 percent of its staff last week." Exiting team members wanted to know why they weren’t warned, while those who survived the cuts wanted assurance that the cost reductions would keep the company afloat for the long-run. Basically Soundcloud Has laid off 40% of it's employees, though the reason behind this is unclear or rather they (Soundcloud) did not give a statement regarding this issue. It seems to me that the company is struggling. I think they can still survived if they implemented unique features for their users and focus on what their strengths are. I hope they don't compete with spotify or any other music streaming services as "Soundcloud" for me is like a big recording company, record label or so that can host your Music. What do you think? if they don't survive, i bet Facebook or Google or Some Big company will take advantage of it. Want to hear your comments below.

Source: The Verge, SoundCloud Premier, 391065963-SoundCloud-Premier-monetization-Terms-and-Conditions.pdf Back in the day in order to get your songs available on iTunes or Spotify, you have to sign with a label. Some independent artist go to the extreme and sign for a "360 deal' which is terrible because for everything you'll earn from tours, concerts and even merchandise, the label will have a cut. But now SoundCloud and Spotify are trying to change that where indie artists can just upload their music to these services and got monetized and get paid directly without having a big label intervening. But as The Verge found out, it poses problems that will potentially screw indie artists when it comes to monetization. Rules for SoundCloud Premier are as follows (more details in the PDF above): But unlike the one offered by Spotify, SoundCloud's ToC says that you cannot sue SoundCloud in the event they don't pay you enough. Also, you can only get paid if you reached the threshold of $100 per month so if an artists earned less, they'll have to wait until it reaches the threshold. Now SoundCloud responded to The Verge by saying: “SoundCloud is the leading platform for audio creators, dedicated to empowering them with the best tools and services to grow their careers. The SoundCloud Premier monetization program operates on a fixed net revenue share of 55% and monthly royalty payments paid net 45 days to creators, which exceeds most other platforms. SoundCloud Premier is completely non-exclusive, the creator always retains all their content rights, and reserves the right to exit the agreement at any time. We are always looking for ways to simplify our agreements for the benefit of our creator community, and will take the opportunity here to avoid future confusion.” But The Verge noted that SoundCloud's response is contradicted by the language of their contract. While SoundCloud may commit to 55% royalty share, they can change those terms without future notice to the artists. But the thing is, how many people will sign up for SoundCloud when Spotify is more popular? Unlike Spotify which will trigger monetization if a song is played even in a free account, monetization will only happen if the song is played outside of the nine-monetized countries (US, UK, Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, New Zealand). If a person already paid for Spotify Premium and that already supports the indie artists, why bother with SoundCloud Premier where songs can only be monetized across nine countries?

So I finally decided to uninstall flash and java due to them being insecure etc. But because of this, I cannot play any tracks on soundcloud's website. It tells me I require flash. First of all, I find it strange that they wouldn't have made an option for html5 instead since they must know flash is insecure. But I mean, it's still a possibility that they haven't changed to HTML5. But also, since I can use the soundcloud app on an iOS device, which doesn't support flash, shouldn't it technically be possible to stream the songs using either HTML5 or something else (like a desktop application)? If anyone knows if this is the case and know how to use HTML5 instead of flash or if soundcloud has their own desktop/windows application to stream their music without flash, please tell me. Thanks!

200,000 Australians can’t be wrong: Netflix is something that probably should come to Australia in an official capacity. Which is a good thing, because based on all the information we have so far, we’re very close to an official launch of Netflix, in the land Down Under. For those out of the loop, Netflix is a DVD rental service that, similar to the existing Aussie service Quickflix, sends DVDs out to people via the post for them to rent, enjoy and then send back. The real game-changer that has caught the attention of hundreds and thousands of Australians, however, is the company’s Netflix Instant product, which allows users to use any device, any browser and any machine connected to the internet to stream an almost infinite library of content for the low, low price of $US8 per month. Australia has been in a wasteland for cheap and liberated access to content in the last five years, with free to air broadcasters and pay TV giant, Foxtel, maintaining a stranglehold over new shows and movies, running them to an antiquated schedule that doesn’t suit the right here, right now habits of modern viewers. These networks have gradually attempted to offer more relevant products to modern viewers crying out for cheap streaming services with the launch of products like Foxtel Play and a myriad of free-to-air catch-up services. For this reason, Australians are flocking to sign up for VPN services in a bid to access Netflix Instant. VPN tunnels make Netflix think that the computer is actually accessing the content from the US, lifting the geoblock wall and making the content available. It’s something that has drawn the ire of the Australian television and streaming industries, with local executives slamming the practice as “piracy”, simply because the content being accessed by Australians via Netflix isn’t licensed to be viewed in the local market. But while the local industry throws stones, Netflix has been quietly tooling away in Australia, working on a local launch. Gizmodo Australia understands that the streaming giant currently operates out of an office in the Sydney CBD, working quietly to establish local connections with agencies, marketers and other support structures. mUmbrella revealed today that it believes Netflix’s Australian operation has recently signed itself up with new creative and social marketing agencies, which indicates that the launch of the Instant product in Australia is just around the corner. The report indicates that a multi-million dollar marketing blitz will flood the Australian market in the coming months. Like it or not, Australian TV industry: Netflix is coming. [mUmbrella] Source http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2014/11/netflixs-official-launch-in-australia-is-happening-albeit-very-very-slowly -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Staying on the streaming news bandwagon What would it take to get you to stop downloading shows via BitTorrent or accessing Netflix via a VPN? How about a streaming service that costs less than $10 per month with access to new US shows as they become available across smartphone, tablet and TV-based streaming products? Meet Stan: the new streaming service for Australia, born out of StreamCo. SoundCloud has made it official, with a real record company. It’s really growing up. Every time a track from a Warner artist is played on SoundCloud here on out, SoundCloud will pay Warnera little bit of money. SoundCloud is a great service, but nothing gold can stay that way, and we knew it would have to figure out a way to keep the lights on — aside from venture funding — at some point. The deal with Warner was contingent on another coming-of-age type development from SoundCloud: its impending launch of a premium service, which offers different paid tiers for different amounts of listening and uploading. The licensing agreement, of course, also applies to the premium plans. So, yes, it’s true. SoundCloud, as it exists in its current form, is changing. It still remains a place where you can discover great and weird underground artists. Let’s just hope that big kid business deals doesn’t mean SoundCloud gets too far afield from the SoundCloud we love. Finally it sings.. Oh boy get ready for Linus tweets with milkshake tag Twitter Audio Card it lets you discover and listen to audio directly in your timeline on both iOS and Android devices. Throughout your listening experience, you can dock the Audio Card and keep listening as you continue to browse inside the Twitter app. We’re launching this new audio card in partnership with third-party streaming services. bam! Instead of sending users out to a website or separate app, songs and podcasts will now play right there below the tweet in a virtual "card," just like videos and pictures. SoundCloud links were initially limited to 50 or so partner accounts listed in Twitter's blog post, they also now appear to work for everyone using them Also Check this out... You can follow @TwitterMusic for real-time updates about accounts using our new Audio Card. iTunes links will soon have quick purchase options from within the app, but for the moment it seems that only one track with foo fighters.. & NASA isn't sitting back on this feature either.. Pretty neat deal imo So what do you guys think? Post your Thoughts/Comments & Rants Down Belooooooooowww... Hey all, so I've been downloading quite a lot of songs recently (never really listened to music), and I just thought of a decent idea. What I propose is that people upload their music (as in music that you've downloaded) to either Dropbox or SoundCloud, or maybe some other cloud service (preferably SoundCloud, because, well, that's it use). So I'm asking before I make the thread is if, A. Would anyone be interested in uploading their music for the benefit of others (so they don't have to scavenge it themselves), and definitely, B. If this is completely legal, with copyright laws and such. I'm sure it'd be fine if the free released songs were uploaded to SoundCloud (or something alike) for others, but I'd like to know about other songs, and if a referral to the YT video and the producer/publisher would be needed. If this is able to be created I'd like it if there was a specified genre with the playlist and/or specified composer/publisher, NOT just "kewl moosik" or "epic sweg beats", but instead formatted like so: "_genre_ - _composer_ - _song name_" with the song, and "_genre_" as the playlist name. I'd like to know if this is possible and if anyone would be interested. Cheers! Edit: This idea isn't set in stone, so if the majority think it's a rubbish idea than I'd easily be able to let go of it. I think this idea is a miss, too many parties to contact for permission to share music.

Hello everyone, I am a huge fan of these three artists, they are french and they produce some unusual electronic music. Some are quiet with bass, some are I don't even know how to describe them... They are not famous, but if you searched for this style for years... The style is near Kavinsky, Daft Punk, College... Thomas Barrandon Was also known as 125# Listen to some there and comment what you think about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6c7YoW40XQ ... and this one from thomas barrandon (awesome tune)

So a few months back, Linus said that they were going to start uploading the WAN show to SoundCloud as a podcast. But it's been months since its been updated. Did they stop doing it, or do they just forget? I would like to listen to the WAN Show as a podcast.
