Hello everyone! I have been recommended to upgrade my CPU from a Ryzen 5 2600 to a Ryzen 5 5600. Would an upgrade bring an amount of fps which would make the whole deal worthwhile? (Escape From Tarkov, Rust, DayZ, few games that I play) Considering that currently my GPU usage is in the 60-70% range and doesn't go up much higher, which makes me think that it might be CPU bottlenecked. My pc: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti AMD Ryzen 5 2600 @3700MHz 16 GB DDR4 RAM (two sticks, one in the second the other in the fourth slot) MSI B450 TOMAHAWK Windows 10 Be quiet! 650W Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

It's my first time posting in Linus Tech Tips forum. I had this account for a while, but this is my first time posting something so I'm sorry for any mistakes I make. Anyways my old ASRock B75M-GL R2.0 motherboard still refuses to die and I like pushing stuff to it's limits. After fast googling I found out that I7-3770 is a bit more powerful than my current xeon. Is there any sense in upgrading to the i7? I have a RTX 2060 and 16GB of DDR3 1600 RAM in this box of junk. The idea is to squeeze every little bit of performance my current motherboard allows. i7-3770k run through my mind at one point, but even if I manage to overclock it, the motherboard will just die I think, because it's half dead and some of the USB ports aren't working etc.

I've had this thought on my mind, and I thought that I should bring it to the forums because I cannot seem to make a decision. I have two somewhat built computers and listed below are the specs of each. PC #1 CPU: Intel i7-2600k Mobo: ASUS P8Z77-WS (Workstation Board) RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 1833Mhz 32GB DDR3 Case: NZXT H440 (black and blue) That's about all this one has... haha... PC #2 CPU: Intel i3-6100 Mobo: ASUS Sabertooth z170s RAM: 16GB(4x4gb) 2400Mhz Ballstix Sport Ram (white) GPU: R9 390 8GB by Sapphire (painted white) Case: S340 White Storage: 4TB WD Blue (had an ssd array but all the drives died, rip) PSU: Corsair Hx1000i (With white cablemod cables) Cooler: Corsair H110i (My profile shows a picture of this build as the header picture) My question continues to be should I move my graphics card, psu, and hard drive into the h440 and rock that system and forget about the i3 system and sell it? Or should I do the opposite and sell the old hardware? I really don't have the need for all this computer hardware laying around. I'll be buying an SSD for either build to get them back on their feet. Both cases have many damage marks from being taken to lan parties every weekend, so I'm worried of getting rid of all the hardware for whichever route I take. And since both cases are in bad condition, I really like the Fractal Design R6 that just came out so eventually I'd move whichever hardware I choose into one of those once the money is there (my lan party days are over). Since it might be brought up, the system is going to be used mostly for Autodesk Inventor work, Vivado (Hardware Engineering) work, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator Work, and lots of gaming of course. Should I keep the i3 system and upgrade to an 6700k? There are so many open ends to this, and with every upgrade it's just something else to get rid of. I hope someone can see a logical answer to all of this, because honestly I'm pretty confused on which direction to take.

Should I buy Apex for $35? It looks really interesting and I am almost getting bored of the base Arma maps. Money matters so I want to spend it on something I will enjoy and play for a while.

So I got my computer about 1 1/2 years ago and it was the best machine on the block! These days, however, even with the most updated of drivers, I found that watching a YouTube video with the mouse over it for the overlay causes my CPU to shoot up to nearly 40%. And if I full screen the video? Ha. It all but shoots up to the max, so much so, that the system itself crashes to a black screen with a cursor. At first I assumed the black screen thing was due to a virus or something. But I scanned with every scan under the sun, including a rootkit scan and scanning the registry. Nothing malicious found at all. Not even with a boot scan. It happened soon after I bought a Cintiq. So I assumed maybe a faulty driver that came with the art tablet. So I did a system restore back to before I installed the driver. It was after it happened again that I turned to the Task Manager. I began watching a video, and wouldn't you know it? My CPU shot through the roof. The same even happens with a simple little flash game known as AdventurQuest. (Shown performance when playing that game in the image attached.) There was a point that it would do a boot loop and not read the Windows files. I powered it down and thought about it. I removed 1 of my 3 monitors and suddenly it would start booting to Windows again, which is a step up, but now I cannot get this black screen thing to stop and the performance of the CPU is really saddening to look at. I was thinking maybe it's a PSU thing since it would boot loop and power itself off with 3 monitors. I should also note that I have my 2 monitors and my art tablet (Wacom Cintiq 13HD) into my GTX 980 GPU, not the motherboard. What can you guys gather from this? Should I buy a new higher wattage PSU (currently have a Corsair CX750M) and see if that might help? Or should I trash this CPU in favor of a new one of those instead? I kinda want an i7 6700K anyways, but it isn't currently in my budget. I just really need to solve this issue, because I depend on my computer for work. PS: If you want to know ALL of my specs, I have them on my profile!

Hello, I'm working on a new product that hopefully is coming to the big market and I was wondering: Should new pc's in 2016 (and up) still come with a mouse and keyboard in the same package? Because I really can't think of someone (in my circle) who hasn't one of those lying around somewhere. Kind regards

Hello, My name is Ethan, and I purchased an Asus M32AD about a year ago. Here are the specs: Power Supply: 350W CPU Cooler: Stock, I think Storage: Toshiba 1TB 7200RPM HDD Memory: Samsung 12GB (8+4) DDR3-1600 Video Card: Asus Radeon R7 240 2GB Motherboard: Asus H81M-E CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 3.6GHz 4-Core I have also moved everything into an NZXT H440 to make room for future upgrades. I have already put together a new partslist for future upgrades here: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/KingShoga/saved/27xhP6. I'm actually looking at an Aerocool VX700W PSU but PCPartPicker did not list that as an option so it says NZXT Vale. I know it may not be the best, but I'm on a budget and definitely need a new video card at some point. I was wondering what I should upgrade first? WEI says the slowest part of the system is the HDD if that means anything. I mostly play Minecraft and like to use custom shaders, high resolution resource packs, and many mods but this R7 240 just can't handle much. What do you think I should buy first?? BTW, I know if I upgrade my video card, I will need a new PSU as well due to this one not having 6-Pin/PCIe connectors.

This is branching off from another topic I made. This one is for component choice on a PC in this particular budget range for the following specific needs. I am building my first PC and need help with the component choice. I am primarily using this PC for gaming but will use it for CAD programs such as Catia and Autodesk as well as Maya. I am a first time PC builder but don't want to upgrade this PC every year or two. I will be able to upgrade in the future but only if this machine isn't cutting it. Any helpful comments would be greatly appreciated. $2000 including tower and monitor. OS,Keyboard, and mouse not included in amount but recommendations on choice are welcome This will be a starter PC build in which I can upgrade the components without having to replace multiple parts because of the platform. Light use of CAD programs as in a couple hours a day. I am coming from console gaming and I want to try out PC gaming.

I was thinking of picking a GTX 780 for around $250 or should I go for something newer? What do you guys think? Let me know! Thank you!

So I finished building a gaming PC about a month ago now, and am now looking to get a monitor or 2. I am currently using a 32" samsung smart TV that I've had for about 3 years. Still works great and is good quality (1080p), etc. but I now want to get a monitor. I am a little conflicted on what monitor(s) to get. The amount I would spend can vary but will be under $300, probably per monitor. All that stuff can vary though. Anyways, I was looking at a bunch of monitors and had basically been focusing on ASUS and BenQ. I am having trouble deciding though, because I want a low input lag monitor for gaming on my xbox one, but also want a high quality monitor to actually utilize the power my new PC has. Uses: PC Gaming Xbox One gaming Both a variety of games include FPS Productivity (Coding, calendars, emails, school work, etc) I cant decide whether I should go for 1440p or 144Hz or both. Both would be much more expensive but maybe I should spend the extra bucks and future proof a bit/be able to fully utilize my new PC. Is 1440p worth it? Is 144Hz worth it? 144Hz would be good for the PC but then I'd also be console gaming which would not be able to utilize either of those. I would also use this monitor as a second screen for my PC when not gaming. Ultrawide? Maybe I should look into an ultrawide like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4JH3HJ8212 for productivity and possibly gaming, and then a 24" higher resolution/refresh rate/lower response time for Xbox and PC gaming like: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313. Or maybe I should just get 2 good gaming monitors in mid-range like: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014345 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236385. OR get one gaming monitor and continue using my TV for productivity. I'm down to any and all suggestions, and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks in advance for your help!

So I am planning on buying these parts: ASUS strix GTX 960 2 GB 8 GB RAM CX600 Z97P 1TB But, I really don't know which case to buy, I'm not looking for some fancy and expensive one, I just want one that will fit all of my parts and will have good air flow.

Hello My name is Simon Recently I have been wondering if I should upgrade from 1920x1080 144hz (tn)monitor to a 2560x1440 144hz (ips)monitor (maybe with g-synz), but I am not completly sure if I will be able to see a difference?? Since these kinds of monitors are quite exspensive I need to be sure before I buy anything, so I was hoping you would be able to help, if any of you have tried something simular... I have read different reviews of sceens of the nature I want, but the problem is that, how great you think a monitor is... often depends on the previous monitor and how be a jump it was. Looking forward to reading you thoughs about this PS. Performence will not be an issue.

You know I've been watching LinusTechTips for a long time, hell they've helped me build my second PC (so much cooler and efficient than my first), and I realized that even though I watch Linus and the crew do all sorts of things like conventions, reviews, and moving updates, I really don't know the employees for the crew. They have a great online presence, but I thought it'd be really cool if they had a video where every member of their crew (old and new members) had like a minute to just show of who they were. I thought this when I realized Linus media group had moved up and gotten their own video. I thought "I'm rooting for these people, and love seeing their progress, but who are they really?". I'd really love to get to know the crew better, it'd just be neat to know while I'm watching the videos who these people are. That being said, I feel I get a lot of personality in each video, but I just don't think anything beats a whole minute devoted to you. Would anyone else be interested in watching something like that?

Hi guys. What is the best fluid for water cooling systems? I am using distilled water. Should I use any additives to prevent corrosion? I have all copper components. What do you think?

Sup guys, I thought i'd put it out there because i know a lot of people want an answer to 'is it worth getting an SSD?' because at the moment you're using a hard drive and you don't want to have to reinstall the OS and all you games blah blah blah, but I would say that's the only downside in getting an SSD. I was so sceptical about getting one but I just went ahead and bought it, my pc was being held back so much i didn't even realise how much my HDD was 'bottlenecking' my pc. With the prices of SSD's dropping dramatically, I bought a 500gb Samsung 850 evo and my god is it quick. If you're one of those people who just don't know if it's worth it, just install your main games on the SSD with music and all your apps such as steam ect, and but an SSD right now. I just thought I would share with you guys that I took a risk on getting one because I had no idea if it would actually be worth it but if you're one of those people debating on weather to get an SSD or not, it's by far the best upgrade I have done in a while. Thanks for reading I hope I could help some of you out there, if you want any down to earth answers to any questions you have don't be shy to ask even if it does sounds stupid. Jev.

I've been planning on upgrade my graphics card from my current gtx 760 but I intended to to upgrade it eventually, but ever since playing things like Tomb Raider 2013 at normal settings kids makes it be choppy and since I've been planing on getting into AAA games like the new Wolfinstein, Arkam Knight, Rise of the Tomb Raider and other games coming but I do frequently play games like starbound, the escapists terraria etc. Here are my current system specs: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/MRE_Teck/saved/Mw7nTW The thing is my mobo doesn't support sli so that makes me lean twords the gtx 980 Also I'm planning on 1440p 144hz.

What should i choose? A Laptop with a Intel Core i5-4210H Processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX960 - 2GB GPU Or a laptop with a Intel Core i7-4720HQ Processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX950 - 2 GB GPU

I have recently bought a new laptop, so now I'm looking for a wireless mouse to go with it. I mainly use the laptop for video editing, so it needs to be extremely comfortable/ergonomic as it will be used for extensive periods of time. Haven't really got a budget, recommend what you will.

Well Hi! I'm searching for components for my new Pc that I'll build in 2016 (due to safeing up money). But first of all, my current Pc: CPU: Athlon X4 750k @3.9Ghz GPU: Gigabyte GTX 660 OC Windforce 2Gb MB: Asus F2A85-M LE Space: 1 TB WD Green Ram: G.Skill Sniper 8Gb @1666Ghz (or something haha) PSU: 600w Someswissmanufacturerpowersupply Nonmodular Case: Cheap and shitty Sharkoon case.. So this Pc was so good for me, and I'm pretty happy with it, cause i got it for about 600 CHF/$ (Yes i live in switzerland) But now I need a more powerful computer, so yup... May I present you.....Drumrooooooooolll.. THE TRUTLE CPU: recommend sth. GPU: recommend sth. MB: recommend sth. Space: 4 TB WD Green + 240Gb SSD (recommend sth.) Ram: recommend sth. PSU: recommend sth. Case: Corsair Air540 Black (Will color the Airgrill to Green Mint) Watercooling Parts: recommend sth. + Green Mint Fluid + Corsair Fans The Turtle will be fully watercooled and will have a "Green Mint" Acsent to it. I added some pictures for the theme... (and yes i'l gona color my case and fan rings and stuff) So what do I do? I'm a Graphic Designer, so the Turtle has to easly handle heavy multicore Workloads. Aaaand yaaassss: I'm also a bit of a Gamer... So I know there will be much more components available in 2016, but I'd just like to plan so i know how much it will aproxipopilop (I don't knwo how to spell this word) cost. (1000-3000.-) Additional Notes: Using 2 FullHD Monitors, Periphals and OS not needed. And I'm Swiss so sorry for the bad english So yes.. If you have some Time to recommend me some stuff, i'd be really happy

Hello! I know almost nothing about water cooling, and I really want to know what there is to worry about I've seen a YouTuber (JaysTwoCents) talk about algae build-ups and conducting liquids and stuff, and I know nothing about this. Also, what is a custom loop and what is a sealed loop? Is the sealed loop un-openable? Do I have to replace the liquids in a sealed loop? Thanks for reading, and please reply if you know what it means to have a sealed loop, and what I should take into account before water cooling my PC. Thanks! -Jordan

Hello all, I want to create a YouTube channel about tech and tech reviews, software stuff, etc, but I don't want to call my channel "chargerjake" because that doesn't express my love for technology, really. I was just a San Diego Chargers fan so I just put my name together with that, and bam. If it doesn't have to do with tech, I'd at least like it to be something cool or edgy, kind of like Snazzy Labs. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
